I know you guys have to make money and all, so while you read this, keep in mind I'm not really judging you guys for your pricing of the packages. I think its fair, given that you said that the target demographic was twenty to forty-something year old male with disposable income.
I'm not part of that twenty to forty-something year old male with disposable income demographic, the most relevant in this instance being the "disposable income" part. I don't have much of it, but I've got enough that I could spend some every month. For me, a package deal like this is me choosing the package over a few months of Mech Credits. Mech Credits or the Package, and honestly, the Packages seems like a pretty good deal... but its still a little too rich for my blood. You can see that I bought the Phoenix Overlord package. The reason for that - you priced it at $20 a tier instead of $30, meaning at $60 I got three chassis instead of just two (which is an extra two or three weeks worth of gameplay for me). I went Overlord, because once at the Overlord tier, I got an extra month of premium time, which has a value of about $10-$14, which I usually buy anyways, so getting the Battlemasters at that point was only $6. The more I spend, the more you make it worthwhile, I appreciate it, as I'm sure that others do to. If that wasn't there though, I would've stopped at the third tier for the Thunderbolt.
Now you know my reasoning behind how I went so far with Phoenix. I got my money's worth, I'm quite happy. I didn't get any of the Clan packages though, because they're literally 50% more expensive per tier. I can't even get three mechs for the Clan packages that I could get four mechs for with the Phoenix package. Two of my favourite Clan mechs are tier 3 and 4 in Wave One, and if they were priced $20 a piece, I would've pounced on it, even without the bonus premium time attached to it. In Wave Two, you have my favourite Clan Mech at $90, which, again, is really steep for me. The a la carte packages are $55 for three mechs. Its really offputting. I can understand the pricing, and I don't begrudge you for it, but for these two clanpackages it was just a bit too steep for me. I'd like to see that in future IS packages that its $20 a tier, and that the Clan packages were just marked so high because the chassis themselves are more costly in game, and while I'm not going to throw a hissy fit or anything, I'd be really disappointed if they were as steep for a single tier as the Clan packages were, but more relevant to yourselves, I won't be buying the packages. I don't know the numbers behind all of the package sales, so maybe you're making more selling higher to less people than selling lower to more people, and again, I'm not begrudging you if thats the case, but if you don't know the numbers, I'm just pointing out that there's at least one player who would put down cash, $80 and more, if the packages were less costly.
