Plenty of damage but only a few kills. Are you managing to put it in the same spot or does it get spread out?

If you haven't got one already, the target info gathering module lets you see the weak spots on mechs quickly.

You may also wanna spend some time in the mech lab so you can figure out if your target is running an xl or std engine. It helps with deciding between the side and center torso.

I'm pretty good at hitting components consistently. In most of these matches I'm running a dual gauss jager. With that mech I can consistently hit a targeted spot (eg the left or right leg) on larger mechs or some general area on light mechs while they are on the move. A couple of days ago, for example, I legged at Locust from 850 m while he was running down a hill at full speed.

Also I have a pretty good idea of which mechs are running what, and use target info when I can.

In the games where I won last couple of days, I actually had much lower damage but more kills.

Also, notice that in every one of the six games I posted, I had or tied for the most kills on the team.

The problem here is when the team gets bad enough you are always fighting multiple people at the same time. There was so much incoming fire in some of these games that I did not even have time to get locks before needing to get back to cover (and nobody was providing locks either). So often in these situations I just send a shot to front cockpit area or rear CT to any mech I can shoot safely and hope for the best. Unfortunately, with a bad team, everybody on the other side is really healthy.

With the dual gauss jager, the Adv Zoom is absolutely necessary. So I have one remaining slot for either the module or an improved arty strike. I almost always choose the arty strike because of the ability to hold back an assault temporarily.

With other mechs (eg my brawler Atlai), I some times chose to take the module.

But, I have to emphasize, it doesn't help much to take a module to identify enemy weak spots, when your team is so bad that most enemies aren't weak anywhere. Eventually, there's just no beating back the tide.

Well there are three ways out of your situation.

Accept it, drop with a group or improve.

Accepting it means you have to start playing for a different reason then winning. Don't look at your damage and think you could have won, but look at it and see that you've done a {Scrap} load of damage. Play around with different builds, see what else you like, ect.

You can find groups for pickup games on any one of the various Team Speak servers. There is a list somewhere. Or maybe find a permanent unit to play with.

Improving will be hard but its the one you can do alone. Again you have to ignore the performance your team. They're a given you can't change. You can improve your own performance. Even so I would recommend shouting at your team, it helps your mood and if you shout useful things you may also win more often.

you will learn to get over it, when you cannot build and load out for the conditions of the drop then its just random cluster fk

no team ever in reality has no idea where they will drop or what gear they should pack, mwo match making is ludicrous because no pilot ever gets put in such a position.

so many builds would be perfectly fine and players would have good games using then if not for having no idea what planet or even which universe or alternate reality they must face.

this side of the so called game is an absolute joke.

The funny thing is that I was playing at what I thought was the NA prime time. On Thursday I was watching JagerXII's stream and tryin to sync drop with his premade. The MM would not let me do it. Actually scratch that, the one time it did, it inexplicably put EVERYONE who was good on the winning team. 2 premade lances from the looks of it. I looked at that and my jaw dropped. They apologized ahead of the time. :(

On the second night I could tell from my friends list that some good people were playing, but I wasn't seeing them.

I think I better start dropping in premades. Even without team speak at least you know there are some competent people on your side.

Yeah, I'm going to set that up. Some times it's just more convenient to convene a group of 4 friends without everybody jumping on TS, which still has benefits.

an ordinary pair of headphones ( which 99.9% of people already own )and a $10 clip on lapel from any local electronics store will work just fine.

no need for players to fork out $200 or more on games headsets.

Your best chance is dropping in a premade with your current gauss config.

A dual Gauss Jaeger only works well when supported and not really good at solo pugging. You could go AC40 and that tears up noobs who don't torso twist really easily. Another alternative is go CTF-3D and just pop tart which should push you up pretty fast as well.

You will never be placed on the team with good premades because the premades will push up the team elo significantly. They'll shove in weak players to make the numbers and then put average or slightly better than average players on the opposing team. Usually that would mean you actually since you don't have bad elo so to speak.
