Given that the Clan package would be delivered in June 14, that would leave us with two Inner Sphere mechs to be launched before the Clans.

January - Battlemaster
February - Griffin or Wolverine
March - Griffin or Wolverine depending on February release
April - ?
May - ?
June - first Clan mech.

Chances are good one of the two IS mechs might finally be the Flea, unless PGI gave up on that idea completely.

That leaves the second mech, which I believe has to fill the last weight slots that remain unfilled yet. In my view that would be the 95 ton slot, and the best mech that I would think qualifies for that would be the Banshee.

Assuming PGI has given up on the Flea, I would think the replacement might be along one of the filled but least populated weight slots, as in only one mech is currently slotted.

I sure hope that our Kuritan brothers get their beloved Thorn in May.

It's just not a proper Kuritan light lance without Thorns.

We need the Firestarter so that we can FINALLY have a contender against the Jenner (not counting pre-HSR lagshield Ravens), and we need the Banshee because the 95-ton bracket has no representation in-game yet.

Considering how well the Jenner went over on the public, odds are good they may just be reconsidering the Flea - though I think that they said the only reason it's not in the game is because MASC isn't up and running yet.

There are far more mediums than anything else (especially accounting for the imminent release of the Griffin and Wolverine). What we're most lacking are lights. One might be the Flea, though that is dependent on MASC. The Firestarter is a possibility either in addition to or instead of the Flea, but that would give us a third 35-tonner. We currently only have one each of the 20, 25, and 30 ton brackets. Two options come to mind most readily: the Javelin at 30 tons and the Mongoose at 25. The Mongoose has the added benefit of including an ECM variant, though it would require MASC.

That said, we have one fewer Assault than we do Heavies. As much as I'd love to see a Cyclops or an Annihilator, the Cerberus and Banshee do seem somewhat more likely given that they're basically the only two 95-ton options given the current tech level.

Since none of the first eight out of sixteen initial clan mechs have MASC, and at least two of the other eight do, it's unlikely one of the in-between mechs is going to be the Flea. There might be a chance it is released sometime between June of 2014 and January 2015 if the devs release IS mechs alongside the clan releases, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Besides, the devs already mentioned that the next light mech is going to be "humanoid, controversial, and a specialist" according to an NGNG podcast. So that most likely means the Firestarter.

Edit....

.....

unless the Urbanmech counts as humanoid enough.... ;)

If the UrbanMech has a fairly wide open engine size range, then it will work and be more than just a novelty.

Locusts and it's faster cousin, the Flea will also fill a niche, literally. Tonnage restrictions for pre-made teams may mean you will see somebody in a Locust just so his lance mates can have an Atlas and a Highlander.

We'll see, though. They could pull another Quickdraw on us and come out of the blue with some other mech like the Grasshopper or such instead of this mythical humanoid light mech.

Unless PGI breaks there rules again (like they did with the commando when the Locust was released) the Locust is the faster of those two. The Flea almost catches up when using MASC, but otherwise the Flea is one of the slowest lights we could see.

Um... Jenners have been immensely popular since at least the beginning of OB, excepting only when they couldn't compete against ECM plus broken hitboxes and no HSR. And they were still fairly popular, even then.

Maybe thinking of the Locust?

To be fair, the Combine did receive a few Thorns from Comstar, but hardly enough to call it a typical Kuritan battlemech.

Next mech will be humanoid and controversial? I smell Warhammer. It is both but don't know about specialist.

The other has to be Flea since it has been announced like over a year ago?

Given how weak the locust is i hope we dont get flea until weight limits come in, at the moment most take heavies and assaults and speed alone does not win against superior firepower.

Exactly, when the heck did a Thorn become beloved. I coudl see a Panther (not that it would be of any use compared to the Jenner) The Panther IS beloved however.(in 3025 TT gameplay it was a monster also)

Re the Flea, I don't see it being very useful, the Locust kind of proved that point IMO., 20 tons just doesn't get you much in this game. Lights that might be better in the game would be the Firestarter,, Javelin (I know really), Wolfhound (rather boring layouts)

I doubt an additional light other than the Flea will be added however. The other mech will likely be assault or heavy.
