If only.

A Clans intro like that would've been interesting, exciting, and good for the game and the company.

Sorry to tell you this, your ideas are either impossible to realise and implement or so out of scale they are a waste of development resources.

you're right, doing anything that'd be exciting for the fans is way out of scale for pgi.

the publicity the "coup" of devs suddenly turning up and tanking matches in clan mechs... you have no idea how epic such a news spill would've been...

I think the Devs just don't understand human psychology/marketing very well.

I think the only things they understand are "money is good" and "a fool and his money are soon parted."

Yet another reason to be sad that the Clan Invasion Starting Now** (**six months from Now) is little more than a holiday marketing push.

Well written and planned, never to be.

I don't think they understand Mechwarrior or Battletech very well TBH.

I'm going to quote myself from last Saturday, if you don't mind:

We all expected something awesome, with AI or GM controlled Clan mechs and maybe some defense missions and some high-stakes sounding InnerSphere News announcements and pictures if not video but literally none of that is going to happen and that's tragic ;)

This was so amazingly fluff-less.

Please explain how developing things that were going to be developed anyway and then modifying XML files and applying a single additional weighting variable (and a boolean at that!) to the matchmaker code is "out of scale" or "impossible". I am legitimately curious as to what you see are the problems.

Because all that is needed to implement new features is edit some XML files.

At the very least, that's all that is needed to give us some of what we've been asking for, yes.

Besides the stuff that PGI says will be in the game by May in their own roadmap, there's nothing in my description that requires any additional features.

Mint Frog, this was beautifully written, and very heartfelt. I salute you, and will drink a toast to your health, and what could have been.

This is a great dream. I would want this to happen on or around the one year anaversery of official launch. With MWO players fully engaged in successor state warfare, PGI jumps in with the clans as you describe. That way it really does upset faction standing and forces IS players to respond.

The OP's basic idea is similar to what I've been thinking of sense I started closed beta.

Well it could be possible to do this.... it means that they have to roll back...
Sry because of the overall negative feedback we delayed the Clan package to a different date. Players that bought those packages are refunded.

(modify May - to October)
Bring CW as soon as possible
must be ultra high priority after UI2.0

However to roll back means is to say: "Ups we did a mistake!"

Nice post I was moved. I wouldn't mind if they roll back and take different approach because if this keeps up things are going to get worse especially if they mess up new features and they don't have much room for mistakes unless they roll back.
