My biggest problem here isn't the price or format (though those $500 mechs are a bit absurd). Its the missed opportunity. PGI had a chance to really introduce the Clans in a slick way and instead it feels like they were released rather unceremoniously. Sure I was anxious for their release much like the rest of us, but instead of a surprise invasion and release that paralleled their arrival in the books we got this. I know high expectations can lead to disappointment, but the hype machine was of PGI's own making IMO. Instead of whispers followed by a bang, I feel like we got a pop followed by a whimper.
PGI could not have botched the Clans (or this game in general) any worse (I take that back, I am a firm believer in incompetence having no bounds)
Not to take away any of mint frog's thunder, because he has some original ideas in that post, but you can go back TWO YEARS and see this exact same idea rehashed a dozen times.
We were discussing a scenario exactly like this when I first joined the forums and there were only ~50,000 people on here.
The fact they had TWO YEARS to figure out how they were going to do this, and this is the big finish? The whole reason they chose this time period was so players could participate in the invasion...yeeeeahhhh not so much anymore.
