@xhrit Just stop trolling on this thread. He isn't saying don't support PGI, he is saying that he wished this happened instead of what really happened.

I am sorry, but "encouraging others to not pay for a bad game" sounds a lot like "don't support pgi". He makes a lot of good points in this post, but I just can't get behind trying to sabotage the MWO community as revenge for some perceived "betrayal" on the part of PGI.

Besides pointing out my uncanny ability to predict the future, I'm not sure what your point is.

Telling people not to pay for a game is not the same as telling them not to play it. If I've broken some rule, report me. Otherwise stop trolling my thread.

I haven't seen any of your predictions come true yet.

I understand he may have posted this elsewhere, but what part of this post specifically did he "encourage others to not pay for a bad game"? Where? I only see a potential start the Clans could've entered.

Tell me about it. He cost me $50 worth of lotto cards, and let's not even get into my other gambling debts. He said the Washington Generals were due! :)

His axe to grind comes from elsewhere.

At least I didn't tell you that you were going to fall into an industrial shredder like that old gypsy woman we met in Vegas.

It has the same effect. If enough people stop paying, then the developers run out of money and the game shuts down, and everyone stops playing.

No grasp of real business though.

On one hand the #savemwo has advocated not spending anything on MWO but then expects all their heartfelt realities to appear.

What resource does this marketing strategist intend to use "pixie dust"?

(BTW I'm not advocating anyone should pay in an FPS game or how you spend your money, but to have pipe dreams and not pay a penny? Self fulfilling prophecy for broken dreams)

I'm flattered by the amount of influence you think I wield. However, I fail to see how it has anything to do with my suggestions that major content reveals should be done in a way that better promotes the brand. If you have something relating to the OP to discuss, I am keen to do so. If you want to talk about off-topic things, perhaps we can take it to a more appropriate location like PM or in the Star Citizen thread.

You brown knights constantly crow about the #savemwo crowd never offering any constructive advice. When we do, you scream even louder, saying our advice isn't worthwhile because any constructive advice is actually a secret troll intended to destroy the game.

You just can't win with some people.

My biggest problem here isn't the price or format (though those $500 mechs are a bit absurd). Its the missed opportunity. PGI had a chance to really introduce the Clans in a slick way and instead it feels like they were released rather unceremoniously. Sure I was anxious for their release much like the rest of us, but instead of a surprise invasion and release that paralleled their arrival in the books we got this. I know high expectations can lead to disappointment, but the hype machine was of PGI's own making IMO. Instead of whispers followed by a bang, I feel like we got a pop followed by a whimper.

PGI could not have botched the Clans (or this game in general) any worse (I take that back, I am a firm believer in incompetence having no bounds)

Not to take away any of mint frog's thunder, because he has some original ideas in that post, but you can go back TWO YEARS and see this exact same idea rehashed a dozen times.

We were discussing a scenario exactly like this when I first joined the forums and there were only ~50,000 people on here.

The fact they had TWO YEARS to figure out how they were going to do this, and this is the big finish? The whole reason they chose this time period was so players could participate in the invasion...yeeeeahhhh not so much anymore.

Imagine for a few minutes a world where MWO was in the hands of a development team that prioritized core design pillars, allocated resources effectively to avoid bottlenecks, and did not find themselves caught in the quagmire of trying to balance complex systems by adding additional complex systems.

I guess I am just glad that "major content reveals" are not prioritized by PGI as a "core design pillar".

one other thing.. It still p i sses me off that they crushed mwll. Say what you will about that game, but at least those guys had passion.. and vision..and talent and balls, and for the most part it worked..
I always felt that the primary problem that game had was just the amount of active players.. Anything over 100 players online at any given time would have ensured an epic match.. As it was , there could be 2 active servers, and most of the time it was a decent match, often epic. Many epic games in mwll. Its almost impossible to have epic within 10 minutes.

I t just goes to show you whom you are dealing with when it comes to pgi.. To be threatened by a game that had at that point 50 players online at any given time.. un ... freakin... believable

MWLL and MWO are very different experiences. I play both, but MWLL is lacking players and requires them, so sometimes I jump back here. In fact, every single Mechwarrior game up to date has been different in many ways. Just no comparison, it's like comparing an Atlas to a Locust, so many differences.

This is a perfect idea, and I so wish it had been implimented. I'd have given my eyeteeth to have been in a match that five Clan mechs 'crash' by wiping out two full companies. The Shock & Awe.... I can still dream about it, even if it won't happen that way.

xhrit please keep threadshitting because it serves the dual purpose of bumping the thread and making PGI apologists look dumb.

"Hey wouldn't it be neat if we had an awesome reveal event" "EVERYTHING IS FINE, SUGGESTING BETTER IS SABOTAGE!"

PGI's game is perfect because PGI made it. Suggesting that it can be improved is heresy. Prepare to die.

May 8th - 10th

The invasion week events are topped off with a tournament that showcases the strength of the still new UI2.0 by allowing organized teams to compete with the new Clan battlemechs. Coupled with the tournament's start is an announcement that accounts that do show a login for the past two months have been gifted with the injection of the Nova.

While at first glance this might be seen as rewarding players who don't play, it is actually a good faith attempt to bring back players who may have written the game off in the past. The gifted mechs are not lost revenue as they would not have been purchased by inactive accounts anyway. Instead, it results in an increase in revenue and active players, filling the queues and guaranteeing MWO's continued growth.

But it is rewarding players who don't play.

Such things are done other way: create another Clan Omnimech not from TRO3050 line and less famous overall (but still timeline compliant and front-line chassis with Omni technology, something like Huntsman/Nobori-nin, or Lupus, or Pouncer). It could've been a great move to create Coyotl (the first Omnimech), but it only has two variants. Then grant it to everyone, both active and not inactive accounts. Thus everyone could have a taste of genuine Clan Tech, but nobody is granted famous Invasion chassis and nobody is rewarded for not playing.

If the player continues to not play, it's not a reward. If the player returns to play the mech, the reward is for coming back to play. Presumably the game will have improved enough by that point that a returning player will want to stick around.
