Definition of pulse from dictionary.com:
3.the rhythmic recurrence of strokes, vibrations, or undulations.
It would make more logical sense to have the pulse lasers look like they did in MW:2. I don't recall how they were in MW4 but since MW3 is the only game that I've seen where pulse lasers were a constantly maintained beam of light, I'm assuming that they took it back to the traditional pulse laser.

Pulse lasers of all sizes have been around in the Inner Sphere since 3037. They have been confirmed in game from the start.
Remember that IS pulse lasers are relatively appalling when compared to their Clan counterparts.

Now, how will you depict Standard Lasers/Pulse Lasers in MWO? –GB_Krubarax
[DAVID] A standard laser fires a continuous beam that applies damage over time while it remains on. A pulse laser fires a continuous beam that blinks on and off. (Not the blaster bolt style of light ‘bullets’ that fly at the target.) Damage is applied in short bursts each time the laser blinks on.

those actors must feel silly holding their ray guns in the air only for the effects to be added in post production.
also, looks like the trope of the charging hero getting killed goes back pretty far.

I picture the way it's discribed as the pulse lasers being full on solid from mech to mech, and flashing completely off and then back on and so on. I'd imagine they are different color than other lasers...

Expect the weight to be higher than a standard laser: the devs have said they are sticking to the weight/space numbers of tabletop for weapons.
