Probably not. Mechwarrior is all about driving around a giant stompy robot and blasting the **** out of people. If I want to play a stategy game I'll stick with the BT boardgame.

Boardgame and Megamek. Don't need a turnbased strategy game. :)

Well, I would play it, but it's not what I'm looking for in this exact game. I want to see some action after all these years...

Has anyone here played Iron Grip: Marauders? It's an indie turn-based strategy game. That one is getting close (but not close enough) to how I imagine the PC version of the good ol' Battletech. And with all those Asian and Asian-like turn-based MMO's everywhere I look, I wonder why there's no such thing yet.

Yes, I'd love. 3d megamek. When I play the tabletop I always play on 3d terrain. However I'd like someone else to make the game and this team to focus on making the sim incredible.

Agree with this. This is what I should've said. At this point I'll take any new BT game and be thrilled, but since the title is Mechwarrior I'm expecting fierce real-time combat.

Yes, I'd love that. I've been thinking if I ever won the lottery, this is exactly what I'd do. All the features of MegaMek (and more!) with updated graphics and the ability to make user-created missions/campaigns...with an economy system!

Oh, and I'd have a cheat code that would let one of your mechs hop across the board, pick up an enemy, slam him down and roar like that little monster-chess piece in Star Wars!

If megamek only had a little programm that lets you manage your own merc unit and gives you computer generated contracts and sets up the enemys/maps for you.

I know theres something similiar allready but its all player controlled... and not really fun if you dont have a dedicated game master that comes up with everything.

Anyways.. sure i would play a turn based strategy game. The genre might not be so popular but hey... i like me some micromanaging stuff.. thats why i still play X3 nowadays cause you get simulation and micromanaging your own little company empire.

In a heartbeat.

Total War:Succession wars. I'd probably die.

As a big fan of the total war series I'd agree but it's not what the OP asked.
Yes to a 3d turnbased version of the TT, even better if it had elements of RPG

MegaMek: Legends is a campaign setting for MegaMek players. It's probably not the exact answer your looking for but it's the best I've found of combining tabletop Btech, multiplayer action and having a strategic umbrella to the game.
There is also another Megamek campaign game out there , I forget its name, its set more in 3025 era. Do a quick google search and you can find some games like this.

Legends used to be awesome, what they turned it into over the last few cycles isn't.
MegamekNET is the 3025 campaign.
Mekwars: Forever will be starting it's new campaign in the next few weeks, it's actually set at the start of the clan invasion and will push forward in the timeline.

I would be happy with a little more animation in megamek; gunfire, sfx etc
I would also want a MechCommander 3 of any time before Jihad
But I would want MW:O to be a first person mech sim with turn-based overworld (1 day = 1 turn) or something

I would suggest Neveron, which was essentially a turn-based, BT-style MMO. But it's gone the way of the dinosaurs. It went from something like 300 battles a day to there being... one right now.

*check the website* Hmm, maybe it's up and running again. so yeah, hit up Neveron if you want. It lacks any semblance of graphics, and even their java-based stuff hates most browsers, but if it works for you, you may want to give it a shot. Hit up the arena, as it's the only way to get any real fighting done within a month or so of hard empire-building.

I would certainly play it, I would even play it if it was just a "Mechcommander 3" or even a "Crescent Hawks: Episode 3" I'm happy with anything they can come out with, I want more Mechwarrior. It'd be kind of ironic if you could drive your 'mech into the hangar bay, jump out, stroll to the bar, sit down at some table and play a nice game of tabletop battletech...

Would even give the devs the time of day if they made a TBS game.

No.
If MWO is a RTS/TBS I will not play.
There are enough of those already.
If MWO is a FPS/Sim style, I doubt I'll ever sleep again.

No, nothing against turn based strategy, but I like MW for the simulation of honking great machines combined with realtime combat strategy. I get my turn based strategy game fix already through boardgames and tabletop.

I think I would prefer a Real time strategy ... something like End of Nations is proposing http://www.endofnations.com/en/
Only Mechs :)
