Yes, I would. As long as there was a singleplayer campaign.

Well, not really, mostly because of the turn-based aspect. RTS would be okay, but after all it's called MechWarrior Online so I want a MechWarrior game! ;)

Yeah, I would play it if it was RTS. If you, for example, controlled a lance or company of mercenaries and did missions in an RTS style like MechCommander 1 and 2, facing off against other players. Especially if you created and customized the mechwarriors at your disposal yourself.

But TBS... no.

Online and turn-based? Maybe if it was one integral part of a "bigger" game. Don't really need that much of a real-time interface for abstract troop/unit movements. But for an online game which involves steering/moving something these days, turn-based most likely won't float. Something like the system the "Total War" games employ might work, splitting the game into two parts, but even that would get easily tedious if too many people are involved. For single player it sure is an option still, either as classical turn-based or in the modification of a realtime game you can accelerate and pause at any point (like the "Hearts of Iron" series from Paradox e.g.).

But just imagine you have, say, 20K people online and every single battle there would be fought out turn-based, even some involving a full Mech battalion. Back from my TT experience I can tell you, those are going to be loooong matches... ;)

Kinda makes me think of how Bloodbowl was made into a PC-game, and I'd like to see that side by side with a MW-style action game.

Should make this question into a poll....

I don't think that would be as much fun as the feeling of riding in tons of steel.

I like turn based games and all so I would love to get some new one with BT/MW setting indeed but not necessarily a mmo, smth with single player campaign + multi would be just fine.
Meanwhile I strongly suggest to take a look at some of Front Mission games ( http://en.wikipedia....i/Front_Mission especially FM1-FM5), maybe Armodyne(ps2) and Robot Warlords(ps2).

I'd just like to mention that the Earthsiege/Starsiege series had these two fantastic little games called "MissionForce: Cyberstorm" and "Cyberstorm 2: Corporate Wars" which are basically turn-based strategy games in a similar-but-not-battletech future. Instead of Mechs you have HERCs, and a variety of ground craft (tanks, hovercraft, etc.) Lots of the weapons are similar, but if I recall, Mechs have shields as well as armor. Maybe shields/armor/structure a la Wing Commander or more recently EVE Online. Either way, there were lots of interesting things with that - different weapons did different penetration - there were EMP-style weapons that only did damage to shields, certain ballistic weaponry that did much more damage to armor than shields, more balanced standard lasers or e-beamers, or other weapons that ignored shields altogether. Either way, it provided for interesting gameplay, sort of like how flamers were used, there would be some very quick light HERCs using energy whips to pour on the pain...It allowed for a lot of interesting/fun tactics for a turn-based hex-based games. You might enjoy them, but as far as I know they don't have multiplayer anymore.

Yes, of course I would. It's the best thing could happen to me.
