Spider SDR "Spyder"

Fielded by the infamous Robinson Ranger Jim "Spyder" Crowle, this modified Spider-5D is a marvel of custom engineering. Built on a Crucis II Delux Endo Steel chassis, Spyder gains additional weight savings through the use of a VOX 255 Extralight Engine and Durallex Light Ferro-Fibrous Armor in place of their standard alternatives. These weight savings have been put to good use, as Capt. Crowle struggled to equip a variety of sub-systems.

Spyder's mobility comes from the VOX Engine - allowing it to reach speeds of up to 151.5 kilometers per house, and a pair of Pitban LFT-10 Class V Jump Jets which allow it to reach heights of 17 meters with ease. Crowle has been known to put these jets to good use during combat, expertly juking to avoid enemy fire while conducting reconnaissance. The agility of the mech, combined with the Garret-Guardian Interface 2B ECM Suite, have been reported to cause mass confusion in the enemy lines once Spyder has arrived amongst them.

The mech's firepower is supplied by a Diverse Optics Type 30 Large Laser and a pair of Aberdovey Mk III Medium Lasers, giving it decent striking power at medium and short ranges. Cooled by eleven Double Heat Sinks, Spyder runs quite cool during skirmishes. An interesting feature specific to Crowle's mech is the ability to quickly swap the Large and Medium Lasers for a trio of Valiant Ruby Dart Medium Pulse Lasers. Specially made on Robinson, the Medium Pulse Lasers have been configured in such as way as to easily slide in and out of the sockets meant for Spyder's regular weapons payload. The trio of Valiant Ruby Darts is used when the mech will be assigned to anti-infantry, or light-mech hunting duties. While some might believe the firepower of this mech to be quite light, it is worth noting that Crowle once downed two lances of DCMS mechs during a raid into Kuritan space.

Spyder distinguished itself during two missions during Operation: Broken Arrow, firstly when using its advanced O/P 500A communication system to transmit information regarding a potential subterranean DCMS supply depot back to headquarters; and then helping to rescue a downed Karnov VTOL pilot during an intense firefight.

All told, Spyder is a formidable presence on the battlefield, and a great asset to the Robinson Rangers Brigade.

Initial Mission outline is as follows:


*Mission Brief - Operation "Divine Intervention" *

On December 15th, 3049 Task force "STEEL ARROW" will penetrate the Free Worlds League frontier via Wazan. From there, an already waiting fleet of "merchant" jumpships will provide the means to jump the 29 light year distance to Asuncion. We will deploy our Leopard Class Dropships Vanguard, Resolute and Unrelenting Fury Disguised as FWL Resupply and Medivac Dropships.

Upon Landing, elements from 2nd Regiment will eliminate HPG station Delta in the Valk pass 500km South of ObjectiveDish in order for the main element of Task force "STEEL ARROW" to land.

With the HPG station down, outbound comms will be eliminated. Our fleet of inbound Union Class Dropships Stalwart,Avenger, Dauntless and Intrepid Will land ground forces on the outskirts of Boreal Vault to the North and Sulfurous Rift to the Equator.

From there Operation "Divine Intervention" Will Commence

Objectives are as follows

Primary: Secure and destroy orbital guns code named "Alpha" and "Omega"
Primary: Search and destroy elements of the mercenary unit employed by House Marik "The Seraphim" aka "The Pink Chickens"
Secondary: Capture enemy mech stockpile
Secondary: if possible, secure objective "King Chicken" (outlined on the AFFS "Most Wanted" deck of holo-cards) for interrogation by Maj. Dimento Graven
