Tonnage limits,
Disconnects replaced.
Dare I say we have to be patient on this one and could be a reason why other balance issues are not being addressed so readily as PGI/IGP will want to see the effects and changes to game play and tactics as a result of any applied tonnage restrictions.

This.
sadly there also have been an issue of people purposefully disconnecting to make more money easily as well. But the exchange of players would fix that quite nicely

I agree that the there is a huge problem with matches.

I have recently played a number of games where our side has 10 mechs verus 12 on the other side (plus they outweighed us).
Why cant the last thing the matchmaker do is compare is there 12v12(or11) players and if it finds 12v10 split it so it is 11v11 players.

I can understand that up to a point. However with no set date on the above, players are going to grow less tolerant of the flaw/bug/design over time.
The 0 ping/never load:
This should be corrected by now, IMOHO. The count down shouldn't even start until both teams are loaded up. And, after a period of time, if a player is sitting at 0 ping, the match maker should drop them from the match and replace it with someone else. Its pretty rare to see that 0 ping actually load into the match after 20 seconds.
The disconnect as soon as the match starts:
This could be either players purposely disconnecting, or due to bugs with the software causing a client crash. The latter should be being captured with crash data and being worked on. As for the former, take away any and all rewards from disconnecting from a match. No match points, no cbills, no xp, nothing. The player did not contribute to the team, and should receive no reward.
Purposeful disconnects/farming
Players who purposely disconnect from a match are creating a negative disruption within the game for other players. And PGI should treat it accordingly. Seeing the same players disconnecting over days, announcing their disconnect because they hate a map, don't want to die, etc.... should be dealt with. Otherwise, lax enforcement of the rules will only encourage such behavior.

I agree with most of what you have said here but I think you are leaving out another significant portion of the disconnects. Namely the people who are purposefully disconnecting because they are veteran "middle tier" players being lumped into a match with 2-6 trial mechs (aka new players) by the matchmaker. I've seen this happen multiple times recently and hell I've even been guilty of it myself of late (though I try not to). As it stands today, seeing those champion mechs in numbers on your team is a f***ing death sentence. It doesn't matter if you're out on your own pugging or even if you're in a team of 4 there is just no way you can make up for having so many ineffective new players on your side.
I don't blame the new players, in fact I sympathize with them (I was a HORRIBLE pilot when I started this game back in closed beta) but I DO blame PGI's matchmaker for throwing new players into the deep end of the fire and then telling them to swim :/ This imo is a major contributor to the disconnects of late.

As to tonnage limits, blame the cap whiners. Skirmish is bring Assaults or go home. The people who wanted Skirmish to avoid base caps are too simple minded to switch to just Skirmish mode, that or they enjoy stomping people who bring balanced mechs to the fight.
PS: When I am in a Light/Med and realize we are up against a Assault team, I base cap. You play your meta, and I will play mine.

This doesn't even begin to touch of the surface of my rage about this game's memory corruption.

Have you tried the repair tool? And made sure your drivers are up to date? The mechbay etc uses Flash and I find that having Chrome open when I am playing can crash me (I suspect it's due to Flash loading in a page or some such as it's totally random).

I should've put the standard disclaimer of: YES I DID EVERYTHING BY THE BOOK (updated drivers, used the tool often, etc etc).
The game is the culprit, and there's no other source causing this behavior. Full stop.

Many people are running it with no problems and even I have stretches where nothing goes wrong. My guess (and yes I work in IT and deal with troubleshooting various issues as one part of my job) is something running in the background causing a conflict.
Have you cleaned up your startup list? IE made sure that Dropbox, MS Office, Adobe XX etc etc aren't preloading in the background? How often do you reboot the PC? (I ask because for some people it's whenever the power goes out).
FYI for anyone who is seeking to tweak their OS I recommend BlackViper.com. It's not a commercial site, just a site run by a fellow gamer geek who likes to tinker with OSes. He breaks down each and every process by what they do, are they safe to turn off or set to manual etc etc. Been using his site for a long time (think when XP was new).

I've gotten file corruption for this game even AFTER a fresh Win7 install (with the requisite Service Pack) after a format and repartitioning and all (the file corruption also happened during WinXP as well). I've very minimalist, so most unnecessary apps do not start up automatically AND everything that auto-updates is set to disabled or manual updating. It's not hard to isolate the culprit when the culprit is literally just one app.
MWO is the FIRST APP that I've gotten to install after everything driver-wise is set up.
You can go through all the startup stuff that you want me to try out, but ultimately MWO is the culprit.
I should simply just create a thread "MWO is killing Windows and causing BSODs" because that is the actual case, since it is the sole source of memory corruption.

Yeah same thing.
But the thing is with mediums, because the Elo is lower, while I get matches consistently, they are often weird tactically.
It's like watching a train wreck in slowmo, but I'm not in a mech that can really make up the deficit and carry.
Pretty much resigned myself to take mediums only in premades.

I think there is some magical ELO bracket while in mediums. I don't think I had that this time around while grinding in a Shadowhawk though.
It's fair to say mediums have a special place in the MM.

I would love to look at the server data to see if there is a noticeable correlation between Elo and weight class.
