Some mood music before we get started.

From Paul in July of 2013....

Do not fear, I am VERY well aware of the hot topics right now and they will be addressed. I am not going to give numbers or timelines until the changes have been put forth into a pre-release build that will be about 2 weeks away from going live. At that time, I will fully let you know what the changes and implications of any balancing will have on the game.

From this point forward, in our quest to hit our launch date, you are going to see an aggressive series of weapon updates with each patch.

That being said, high on priority is the SRM spread/damage and the high alpha meta going on in the game. I'll update you on these as soon as the changes have been put into test.

Balance changes since July 2013...

July
  • LBX Spread buffed
  • MG buff buff undone
  • Ultra AC/5 buffed
  • AC/2 nerfed to fix Ghost Heat issue
  • SRM refire upped for smaller launchers
  • Gauss delay nerfed
  • PPC/ERPPC buff undone 8 months later
September [LAUNCH]
  • Ultra AC/5 buff undone
  • Attempted but failed flamer fix (range/heat transfer)
  • AC/2 Ghost Heat reduced slightly
  • UAC/5 given slightly more ammo
  • Jump Jet fix for stuck terrain system
October
  • Fixed non-worthless strikes (Search Replace 10 -> 40)
  • More shake added to a few guns
November
  • NOTHING
December
  • NOTHING
--------

"Aggressive weapons balance" + "Top Priority" means undo buffs that broke the game, mish around with a few tweaks, then simply stop ever fixing anything anywhere?

This post is made in memory of:
  • The Flamer. Worthless to the end, but keeps being made prettier. This weapon makes the particle effect guy cry when nobody uses it.
  • The NARC Beacon. Doesn't stack with Artemis, doesn't track, weighs tons.. left abandon since the game's beginnings.
  • The Command Console. A piece of gear you can buy and stick in your 'mech that still does nothing.
  • The Machine Gun. From worthless to possibly OP to worthless so fast I am still recovering from whiplash.
  • The Large Laser. Still painfully handicapped at 2 despite everyone repeatedly asking for higher limits....
  • The AC/2. A bad weapon that was already down when Ghost Heat came and kicked it down, to the ground.
  • The LBX/10. Still a terrible weapon that is in every way inferior to the AC/10. Remember when they were going to allow it to swap ammo types?
  • Pulse Lasers. Great for a few months, "temporarily reduced" and have been hot, interior weapons for more than a year now.. I fondly remember when 3 LPLs could make up a main load out. I miss you, Pulse Lasers.
We also mourn the section of our garage gathering dust including the Awesome, Quickdraw, Stalker, Kintaro, Locust, Commando and all the rest, wishing desperately they were given some advantage to make them viable and worthwhile again.

It doesn't have to be this way. Where is the aggressive weapons balance? Who counts undoing some buffs and adding some tweaks as such?

Will PGI ever spent the 5 minutes necessary per match to fix this?

No because the balance guy can't balance without adding 3rd tier terrible mechanics not described or explained via in game mechlab.
And the developers collective can't seem to manage their test server for it to contribute to testing small and wild changes on a mass scale to get meaningful stats.

It was going to create a thread where people agree with you that not enough is being done.

Far too on topic.

Not even a note of why it was moved when it clearly involves balance. Personally i would challenge its move.

If i were to guess, Egomane has moved it on a wild whim

Wild whim?

Lets see...
- Discussing a topic, we already have at least a hundred threads about, in a not friendly way.
- Personal attack to Paul (even you do not name his name, it's clear as glass who was meant) in the second post already.
- Thread got moved and we get discussion of moderation

Truth or not! Unconstructive topics get moved. Be glad I didn't make your post against Paul or the discussion of moderation report to process.

Learn to post constructive and you do not have to fear moderation. Of course you can contest my decision with a mail to support@mwomercs.com.

It's like people are too dumb to know what constructive means.

It's ok, i understand uncomfortable topics dont make good reading.

When you move a post, with no explanation of course you get moderation discussion...this is not china, at least not yet.
