When i first got the BLR's I had no problems with the 1D and 1S models. The D model sporting STD 340, 2 PPC's, one LL and 2 ML, with 21 Double heatsinks. And the S model with STD 285, LRM 15+10,2LL and 2 ML with 20 DHS and 4 ton of LRM ammo
BLR-1G
But the BLR 1G was struggeling...It was not dealing enough damage, it overheated like hell...
I had the ML's with each torso. So 3rd weapon group 3 ML's and 4th other 3 Ml's.
I tried chainfiring them, to save heat in one weapon group, rapidly pressing it, but then i found out that the chainfiring stop working properly when i started using the PPC and AC10.
With results...Frustrating matches and a W/L of 0.85 and a K/D of 0.90. Comparing this to my other BLR's: 1.5 W/L and 1.1 K/D.
So i went towards training grounds, redesigned it a bit. And kept my toe with 3 things: It must sport 6 ML's, it must have a PPC, it must have a STD engine
BLR-1G MK2
This became my build. Several things changed:
-AC10 swapped to UAC/5 (or AC5) with simular ammo loadout.
-3 extra DHS added
And the most crucial change was this.
All left ML's are put into weapon group 3 (Left shift button here)
All right ML's are put into weapon group 4( Space bar, i never use JJ on any mech)
All of these are Chain fired. The results were half the heat buildup, with a rapid fire of medium lasers pouring out, and what seemed to be also much better hit registration. These burst fire ML's have scored 10 kills in the last 5 matches. Not to mention the firepower of the UAC 5 and PPC
Weapon group 5 is like a panic button for opening fire with all 6 Medium lasers at once.
So guys, i hear alot of people complaining about the BLR-1G. Keep on testing builds after build after build. And you'll find it.
End tally now, after 15 matches:
W/L increased from 0.85 to 1.23!
K/D increased from 0.90 to 1.20!
Average damage output is up from 300 to 550!
The BLR-1G has become my second most played battlemech. And i am enjoy it alot. Seeing those 6 Medium lasers burst firing and keeping firing.......oooh such great satisfaction
