Uninstall

As the game is at the moment it is certainly no fun for a new player, to have to constantly die to learn anything is just pointless and it defies all reasoning behind playing a game to have fun and enjoy ones self.
Regardless of whats coming and bugs and other game issues, for a new players experience it is just awfull, as a whole this game feels as though it should still be in beta testing and not classed as a viable product to be sold. I have given suggestions only to be trolled and de-railed.
I will install the game next year perhaps if it is still up and running, but i think i can find better use for the space it's taking up on my hard drive.
Thanks again for the lesson in how not to make a new player feel welcome into a game.

Sorry you feel that way. Maybe try again down the road, hopefully you'll find things better off then. FYI, MWO should still be in Beta, most of us just treat it like it is. Although, it isn't a product that is sold. It's free. Minor point though. Again, sorry you didn't have a better experience.

All so a lot of these mechs are no good until you elite them Lights are almost worthless without the speed boost and assaults without the twist/turn speeds.

It's not just the steep initial learning curve, that is a common factor in many games, double so for simulators (if we can call this game that), but the unintuitive and sometimes convoluted mechanics (3PV that hides your minimap and radar, ghost heat, arm lock and throttle decay that's on by default...) and vital information provided trough one of many media, oftentimes hidden from the less dedicated followers of this game.
With all that considered, add the common matchmaker fumbles, repetitive grind without and griping content that makes you want to play again and again (as opposed to just force you to play again and again), we can't be to astonished when a newbie gives up on this game after only 2 weeks of playing.
On the plus side, he is planning to check back in a year, so he might see some improvements on a couple fronts. Like, the first phase of the CW could finally get out of the development phase

This game sucks for new players. Now, maybe we don't need new players if you all will be rolling in gold mechs. But I think PGI should be bending over backwards to make the new player experience better.
Later Baba, come check things out in 6 mo - 1yr... we may be better off by then.

Sorry man but talking smack is a time honored tradition. If folks don't have the skin for it they should not play or post in a competetive arena. I have had much, much worse said to me and I retorted with a quip and a smile.

Name me one other FPS game that doesn't pit good people against bad people. Call of Duty games pretty much eact up sales every year yet they are essentially the same thing as this. CoD4:MW had people using the MP5 and AK-74u run and gun style and would roll over entire teams if they were good at it. W@W, the MP-40, MW2 had the UMP45 and Akimbo Glocks as well as the super accurate ACR, MW3 the AKimbo FMG9s. Those games also had people who could cheese hit detection. Tell me again how these games are doing?

I would not call what the above have been doing "talking smack" - what they did was to patently belittle someone for uninstalling the game.
Regardless, MWO is NOT a competitive arena and being a bully does not do anything to build the player base of a game that has serious community issues on top of a game that is ostensibly still a Beta. "Minimum viable product" of a Brand IP is a recipe for failure and the community, even the [redacted] trolls, should try to do more to encourage people to stay on. Being a richard cameron about it does not help.

Those games also provide singleplayer experience, ability to fight with/against a selected group of people and lessen the learning curve trough tutorial, as far as I remember (the last CoD MP I have played was MW1, so I might be wrong about the newer versions).
Plus those games have an huge cult following and have the means to get the sales. MWO does not have that and new player experience should be an essential part of the player retention (although that does not mean that steps should not be taken to retain your veteran players trough other means, of course).
Pointing out CoDs traits and successes as an argument that new player experience (or anything else, for that matter) is fine in MWO is just plain wrong.

It is not wrong since that game gets new players as well as the older players. It is the exact same thing as here. MWO brings in new players to BT as does older vets who have plpayed the older games. And they all have a learning curve of some type. Learning to controll your mech or learning how to drop shoot each has a skill set.
Also the single player campaign in each of the CoD games doesn't really set you up for MP because the SP guns sometimes act differently in Mp or you never see some of the guns in SP.

Or, as I suspect, none of us will be here as MWO no longer exists at that point.
The ship is on its way down kids, with holes below the water line and fire raging across the upper decks. It would be nice if the devs used something other than explosives to attempt to fix it.....
