Balance I think is the best it had ever been but many deep issues remain

No advancement an the joystick front that I'm aware of.
Matchmaker seems to work more often than not.
Clans aren't actually in yet.
With the exception of SRM hit detection, weapons are in a pretty good state.
Download it and play. It'll only cost you a little time to see if you enjoy it.

The game's balance is as good as it's ever been - and UI 2.0 is coming very soon. (call me crazy for believing them

I don't know about joystick support - I'm a mouse man myself.
Clans aren't coming until June - though you can pre-order if you so desire.

1) Im curious, why do you think its Play to Win? Perhaps we can give a better response on that if you explain your feelings?
2) Dont use a joystick for this game. You will respond slower in just about every level. Use a mouse its just plain better.
3) Matchmaking still has some issues but games tend to be overall fairly balanced. You will get an odd game now and then. Nothing is perfect.
4) Clans still have yet to come out. Unless you are reffering to guilds?
5) Weapons are overall fairly balanced for a mechwarrior based game, need a few tweaks.
6) There are plenty of players. If you are looking for people to play with or a guild, I would suggest taking a look into outreach.

-joystick support same since closed beta. nothing new on that issue.
-matchmaker is still broken.
-weapons balance is a bit better than what it was a year ago. but it still need a lot of work. PPC+AC ftw. hit dection is still broken. especially with SRMs
-i dont think there are a lot of players but i'd say there are enough.
-clans are not here yet. but you can give PGI more money to make sure you get them as soon as they come out.
some minor issues like CW and UI.2 you dont need to worry about...im sure they will be implemented by 2015.
that said the core of the game is still good and if you havent played for a year you will find the game has changed. give it another try nothing to loose just a little of your time

By large the casual player is begrudgingly enjoying the core strength of mech-on-mech action while patiently (or not so patiently) waiting to see the first glimmer of community warfare. The top-tier players are getting restless for stronger balancing efforts.
At the end of the day both parties are struggling to not rip each others throats out.... so I guess everything's normal?

Some top tier players like the balance and are worried that others will ruin it

Still no reason to play. Still get 2-3 disconnects/AFKs/empty team slots. Still have hit reg issues. Still alpha strike warrior. Stil borked heat system.
But hey u can buy a gold clan mech for $500 if u can't think of anything more worthwhile to do with it. Like buying 12+ AAA titles during the Steam sales for example.

Tell me the truth... being in the minority is kind'a refreshing ain't it?

Sadly, the community intelligentsia will lump you in with us "group-thinkers" for failing to be adequately enlightened or accuse you of impersonating a top-tier player...

Shrug, The only thing you can do is keep posting really. That said this is one of the most caustic, close minded, illogically angry and overall group of ner-do-wells in a forum community that ive been a part of in awhile. I can see why most avoid the forums.
That said. Just based on who I play with and the numbers I put up, I doubt anyone would accuse me of not being close to top-tier

The game is fine, but UI 2.0 has put too much on the back burner. And no this is not P2W.
If any would be interested in a P2W game it seems that one needs to go to the Chinese browser game market, from what I googled.
As for weapons, the main concern is spotty hit reg, most noticeable with missile weapons.
I'd say if you have time, keep the game on your rig, use the repair tool and check-in every now and then to see for yourself.

Man, these forums seem to be one of the better forums out there.
Dooming and glooming is often standard fare when users are anonymous, and this forum is made more interesting when individuals can have more than one account! So I take much of what I read with a pinch of salt anyway, and it helps that I've been in other game forums before coming here.

1. I was thinking of coolant flushes or something. The memory is vague.
2. Hell no. lol Wouldn't even be worth playing at that point. I've done piloting in real life and have an expensive joystick just for games like this. Literally the only reason I was excited about this game is that I have a new game to use this for. I might have mouse on the side for sniping though.
3. Word. I just remember either winning 8 alive / 8 dead or losing the opposite.
4. Aye, guilds. CW etc.
5. Sweet.
6. Cool.
Thanks for all the replies, guys. Once I finish up my little project and the BF4 campaign I'll probably re-download and jump back in.

GL! As I said, strongly suggest swinging by outreach and looking around at merc units there or at the factions and picking some folks to play with.
This game is 100% more fun when you drop as a lance.
