Exactly! Staying true to a BT simulator.. your only view should be out the cockpit. I hope they put a little definition layer into this part as well. Maybe you just see dirt, maybe part of the horizon, any environmental variable. Having the cockpit splash down in a river or lake would create a little anxiety too since you would
seem trapped underwater.
Though, when I say in-game comms might be disabled, I also mean tools like radar, even if only the short range 250 meter one is the only one that works when you are downed. There should be a chance that your whole cockpit is dark but you should have the opportunity to call out positions to teammates on voice comms if you have visual on any enemy 'Mechs.
If you are looking at dirt, and your cockpit is dark though... then you can bail and go nab another 'Mech. This depth makes more sense in differentiating it from other games.
