Okay, this might be sacrilege, but I was brought up on the old videogames and did not even know the table top existed until recently. I have a lot of fun with this game, but I feel like theres something missing. The tactical effort of the current game times is really fun and interesting, but I think we can do one for just a bit of insanity.

A skirmish plus mode, 30 minute timer, respawns, end of the map is team who's dealt the most damage wins. Straight up, simple, mech on mech ruination. You can play a little riskier because of the respawn ect. But it was one of my favorite game modes in Mechwarrior 3 and 4.

Like I said, I don't know if this is against all gods of the Battletech Canon, and I have no idea how it would work with say, the repair function and c-bill experience function, but hey I know it'd be a blast!

As long as dying doesn't affect your k/d/r I'd be up for it. Near endless battle of heated mech on mech action.

PGI is working on a respawn-mode. It will come some time this year. (I think, they said summer. So... winter.)

You preload a "drop-module" with 4-8 (different sources mention different numbers) Mechs. If one gets destroyed, you respawn in the next one.

I'd be up for it, even though a large chunk of players say "no"

why? because player choice, you can't really win against that.

You want your 1 chance? have it
You want your Respawns? have it

Didn't they cancel that a while back?

It was called "Dropship mode" and got replaced by the concept of a lobby system, for some reason.

Its been a while, but that's the gist of it as far as I can recall.

-edit-

Anyway it'd have to be four mechs, because that's what you have by default.

People would cry PTW otherwise, and in this case they'd be right (unless there was a tonnage limit too, so having 8 slots would only allow you to pilot three locusts, three commandos, and two fleas :P).

I'd just like see missions and scenarios, you know, what mechwarrior was known for before MW4 multiplayer came around.

Unfortunately that would mean that the devs would need to take a break from creating more cockpit items and such, we surely can't have that happen eh?

We can just assume they got overrun and the Prince died.

So long as it's not a component in CW, I'm ok with it.

I figure that it's something that pick-up players might like, but those of us who prefer a story might not want to use that.

I, for one, didn't like that mode. What I did like was CTF, but while it was in MW4 Vengeance multiplayer, it didn't make the cut to MW4, meaning I haven't played any CTF style Mechwarrior in upwards of a decade.

Then again, "CTF" wouldn't make sense in CW either, so raiding components from a base would be better.

Attack/Defend mode will have limited respawns for the defending team. You will be able to bring up to 4 mechs I believe.

CTF with mechs is unbelievably fun.

Remember FUN?

realism can jump off a cliff. CTF would be a great gamemode, with 4 mechs per pilot and 3 flags best 2/3 wins CTF in this game would be amazing. it could easily be tied to CW as a type of Capture the enemies intel, but dont lose your own) type explanation.

a little imagination goes a long way.

Man, I'm just happy that this didnt get shot down in flame, and that theres a bunch of people who remember how insanely fun the MW4 multiplayer was! Woooo! I'm totally down with the drop ship mode, I think that would be a pretty good middle ground, I mean the game I think needs some more fluidity in the matches, I do get a little tired of "oh you got caught out for 10 seconds, now you can't play that mech for 15 minutes while the match finishes" that happens occasionally.

There are no firm plans for any of this, its all been suggestions and possibilites. I like the idea but kills should be the metric not damage or everyone will play high alpha stomp bots.

Just like Mechwarrior 4, which is why I really didn't like multiplayer.

cERLL+cGR Poptarting Assault Mech Spam all day er'ry day, and no mech was fast enough or strong enough to effectively counter that tactic.

MW4 Mercs / Mektek as a multiplayer game was nothing but a lesson in frustration and ragequitting unless I was willing to do the exact same thing as everyone else.

ESPECIALLY since finding a server with limited ammo and heat registry was a challenge in and of itself, turning MW4 into what I called "Counterstrike Twitch-Click".

There's a good reason why preferred to just play single player over and over, and good reason as to why I was a huge skeptic when they announced MWO would be multiplayer only.

Luckily, PGI have done a pretty good job at preventing the huge meta bias towards a handful of designs like we saw in Mechwarrior 4. I'm happy with that.

Well considering that you cant turn off the limited ammo or heat functions currently, that definitely stops a lot of the alpha spamming, and they've been nerfing the alpha slapping quite a bit, so I think it could work under MWO. I mean, I guess if its the drop pod at least it could still be kills, it would make sense, just a longer more drawn out skirmish where maybe players can take some more risks. Right now one of my biggest problems is either playing too cautiously or just getting caught in a bad spot and getting wiped out a few minutes into a match, if something like this was a game mode you'd have one with a little forgiveness and the game play could be a little more fluid.
