It's actually really nice that this is kept up to date. I fell out of playing for a while because of other competitive gaming obligations but now that I'm free I want to pick up MWO again towards a competitive level. Since I'm an in-between and not quite a beginner but absolutely rusty in remembering "this & that" and of course no clue about the newer additions to this game since I stopped playing a year ago, this has been really helpful in finding my niche for information.

All over it, will be recommending people your guide as I get other people to play too.

I just need to pile on here.. great work, thoughtful layout, good illustrations. Being a graphic artist myself, I have done a lot of educational materials in my career.. This work is very, very good - and I know the amount of effort and research it takes.

A very heartfelt thanks for your efforts - they rightly are being praised..

I started just a few days ago and this guide told me everything I wanted to know about the game (like hit boxes, critical hits, inner sphere/clan differences).

I can't thank you enough, great work!

The docs seems to be gone now, if it can't be replaced can this be unstickied?

As a new player, I'm dying for a good newbie guide.

Hey Raketefrau,

I am also looking for this newbie guide!

If anyone here has a copy of it, would you be so kind as to share that with Raketefrau and I??

Thanks

AM

I've got some old advice floating about, if'n you want to peruse it. Just take note, I don't use or make meta builds, and my mechloadouts are put in for completions sake, rather'n as recommendations.

I've not been playing much recently though. The big takeaway I feel from those threads is more tactics rather'n build considerations.

I know it's not as comprehensive, but hopefully it'll help.

MercStar still has a copy: http://www.mercstar....ed-12-30-15.pdf
Be aware that the guide was written for the state of MWO in 2015. There have been changes in balance, techbase and mechanics that are not accounted for in there.
  • The entire skill system and module system were replaced by the new Skill Tree in 2017.
  • We had engine desync (where the agility profile of a chassis is decoupled from its' engine size)
  • A bunch of chassis were introduced between 2015 and 2019
  • The heat capacity and dissipation values were changed
  • A bunch of weapons had been subject to years of minor tweaks and rebalances
  • Lock-on weapons were changed in... was it 2018 or 2019? Anyway, lots of differences there
  • As a result, the recommended builds and drop decks are... not so recommended any more.
