idk why people said the quriks killed the locust 1V...

Using the typical 1 Med las + 4 MG or 1 MPL + 4 MG still get minor buffs and also it's still better then before so if anything any build possible on the Locust 1V should be better now then before...

Also @Person that told me 4 MG + ER large laser can fit on the locust 1V.

I tried the build, 10 single heatsinks ruins the point of having a rapid firing er large laser. it made it quite hard for me to survive even on snow forest colony where I'm sitting in the water in a cold map with single heatsinks in the legs with still gaining to much heat for comfort...

And this is coming from a guy who runs a twin PPC 5 med pulse 1 med laser banshee =l

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...c95e149718b34bb Not exactly useful, but doable.

It's more than the ERLL is now faster firing than the ML. From any intelligent outlook, the ERLL is the only build, because the others look (pardon me) ******* ******** compared to it. The four Ballistic mount light is more or less forced into a build where you can't use any of those mounts effectively. As I pointed out, the only thing that's close to usable is Med or Small Pulse, and those are just BARELY better. Compared to, say, the 3M, the quirks it got where akin to a shot to the groin, especially for anyone who payed money for a Machine Gun bug. I:

i used the 1V and liked it before quirks so i don't see why anything would change that.

But hey a hero locust, that can't aim down or anything, the arms are only shields... hmm, still tempted to buy it when i get a computer again. No A.M.S. hardpoints? i was hoping for 4 A.M.S. because i'm that crazy. Maybe it will get missiles in the arms as a retrofit. Probably not though.

At last.....I have elited my 1E. Zip Zip Pew Pew!

I can finally stop cursing the heat inefficiency of 6xml and a 30 point alpha on this diminutive little chap. :D

I was contemplating which mech to start with after I elited my Orions and Stormcrows. I was in dubio between the Locust and the Dragon. I absolutely love my Death Knell but the Dragon was a kind of mech I didn't already own. The locust hero being announced and it having ECM was the clincher for me. I have now started with buying the 1E and am running it as such LCT-1E.

I am having great fun with it. It is very close to my Death Knell and work almost the same but it cannot take the damage that I can take in the Commando. The Tag is a really nice bonus though. I have never run one before and I have found that every other game or so it rakes in a great big pile of C-Bills.

I am looking ahead now and need some advise. I will get the hero locust and will need a third mech which I have choosen will be the 1M. I have two builds in mind;

LCT-1M

Seems the best build. Medium lasers are still the mainstay and carrying two with some back-up is a good way to build arround it's quirks and will no doubt perform well. Two and half tons of ammo seems like a waste to me but the there is no good way to use that one ton excess. BAP would be nice but that would leave my SRM's with only twelve shots.

LCT-1M

Two SRM4's will do decent damage and the ammo situation is a lot better. I hate not having range though. So many battles start of with ranged pocking and this mech just cannot do that.

What do you guys think?

I prefer the 3S to the 1M myself. It has increased torso range and comes from the factory with Endo and Ferro. I also feel that the 3S's +30% to missile range is superior to the 1M's cooldown and heat-gen quirks.

I spent extra bucks to refit my 1E back to the stock build so I could play in Stock Mech Mondays. As much as I'm regretting it because it means I can't use it in regular matches, it's forcing me to play some other mechs that I haven't used in a while, so it's a welcome break from Locusting.

So yes, Stock Mech Monday plug. Bring a stock mech at 9:30est tonight and have fun. =]

Honestly, this: LCT-1M

SL are all well and good, but 2 just isn't enough.
The 2 MPL give you significant kick, has more range and cycles faster than the Smalls, and the 2xSRM2 with a ton of ammo gives you a decent extra bite too.

Honestly... with how much they cost... why didn't you just buy a second 1E?

Worst case it's 1.5mil C-Bills + 300MC for a Mechbay.

I'm a free-to-play player, so I don't have the mechbays to spare. =/

If gifts was a thing. I would give money to all well deserving mechwarriors that I see.

(PS: I'm not rich. It's just I am comfortable with my purchases in game thus far (abused 50% off mechbays to get double my moneys worth) and I would love to help people out, even spending something like 5 dollars would make a big difference)

10 Mechbays is 3000MC (15-20 if you wait for a sale), which even before I went of the deep end, was a reasonable deal and expanded your choice significantly.

Well worth £9 / $15

@ Nightshade - (because Win8 is not even letting me fake quoting right now)

There are ways to do it - had someone give me the money to get Arrow for example - but they require both out of the box thinking and the insanity (read - courage) that that implies.

It's doable, and requires trust, in that you need to lend your log in details to someone (or honestly, just paypal them the money...)

Didn't take giving my info away - he just send me the info for one of the disposable gift cards to buy the MC with
(Which can also take a fair amount of trust)

Chop the engine down to a 180 or so for mediums on the 2SRM4 build, i had that mech with 2 SRM4 2 ML (may have been 170XL) and it was fantastic at hit & run (three kills in a row in last seconds of a match style). Single heatsinks too, would have been better if i had doubles.

I seem to have developed the very "useful" skill of looking directly through the words "heat warning" and not seeing them. Very handy while running a locust around under the feet of the enemy.

Could be. . . (sorry more sarcasm ;)) I guess DHS would be a good investment, eh?
