Oh I will - but I am on a limited budget, so I am trying to stretch my MC as far as I can.

Gotta wait for the sales. :P

Man I love Locusts, but sometimes a Stormcrow or Maddog with a bunch of streaks waves his mouse in your general direction, presses a button and BOOM you're dead

Thats the thrill and appeal of the Locust. You simply cant get hit. Or you die in flames.
YOLO

And the shaming of killing someone solo in the worst mech. Mandatory smack talk afterwards. Look it up. Clan, IS, Comstar, pirates, all have this law. You get solo killed by a Locust, you must be berated. Preserves the circle of life. Cue Elton John.

This worst part is, if you are running from the streakboat but he manages to get the salvo off just before you slip out of range.. you can hear the "wshhhhhhh" of the missiles launching, there's that inevitable 1-2 seconds or so that it takes for the missiles to get to you. and during that short amount of time, you know you are screwed, but can't do anything about it! lol

This is why all my Locusts have Warhorns.

I don't especially like Warhorns myself, but it's that act of rubbing salt in the wound.

Whacking out someone in a Locust is the worst, especially of the opponent is another light. I had a match last night I killed a Raven with one. I felt so sorry for the pilot because I KNEW they were a newbie. They stopped dead and tried to shoot me in the face but they were hugging the wall so hard their left arm and torso fire were hitting it and not me. 3M. Had enough time to double alpha their cockpit with 5 SPL's, point blank range. Literally the third headshot kill in my entire time playing. If that pilot sees this post... I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

I am not sure why, but my LCT-1E is murder on other lights. . . I think because the general rule is don't engage in a duel with other light mechs, but I have been able to take out a number of lights by chasing them long enough to get an alpha in their back and drop them while they tried to disengage.

You just gave me an idea !!!!
In going to suggest a Locust Warhorn.

When you get a kill, everyone nearby hears:
(deep and preppy a-hole voice)

"KILLED BY A LOCUST!!!"

I would actually pay money for that!

But, it would be awesome if it was standard equipment on all the locusts!

my favorite kill to date-in a 1E in mordor. was latter part of the match we had 4 or 5 left other team had 3 or 4 and i had just run screaming and panicing for my life from a couple of the enemy i was spotting for our slowpokes and survived the run back to the friendlies (note- locusts are great for FF as most of it goes over our heads intstead of taking off body parts) and kept going into the volcano to try and pop up behind them via one of the other exits when i saw it. direwhale on the center platform, friendly jager playing peekaboo.

i find the ramp leading behind it and head on over and take the first alpha at the whles RT. no reaction, shoot again, whale kinda turns slightly towards me as i easily slip behind it. whale starts waddling after the Jager who now finally moves into the center. another alpha, still no reaction, heat becomes an issue so alternate 3 and 3 shots, whale starts "charging" up the ramp to the jager. another alpha- no more direwhale. don;t think it ever saw me. we ended up winning 12-8/9ish

Managed a rare 12-assist game today (466 dmg) in the 3M, using 5 medium lasers. Even on a cold map, I noticed that the MLs are still quite hot. I may have to give up my love for "the green" and learn to work with the SL/SPLs lol

even four MLs on the LCT-PB have proved too hot for my taste, so I switched to 2MPL/2SL instead - and it's been working like a charm.

running 5SPL on the 3M, too. it's a much more in-your-face (from a Locust, lols) playstyle than with MLs, takes a lot of getting used to.

Well, this isn't exactly how it turns out every game, but I will definitely say that whoever thinks the Locust is bad is wrong, wrong, wrong.

That's a general rule? Whoops. I do that all the time. I kind of thought it was my responsibility to take on the enemy's lights as a light brawler. Especially since I win far more often than I lose when it actually comes down to 1v1. My rule is to avoid mediums like the plague since they can turn fast enough to see you and carry enough ordinance to one-shot you.

I could be wrong I have just read that a bunch of times "Don't engage in a duel with another light because even if you win it is likely that you come away glowing red". Or some such thing as that. But anyway, I am obviously not good at following what I read because I never miss an opportunity to fight/chase enemy lights away. It was striking to me that the locust seems to be my best "light killer". But then again it might just be that kills are so much more remarkable in a locust I take better note of them.

I think that is precisely why you should leave the lights to your mediums. Chasing lights off and helping to take them down is fine, but going mano-a-mano is usually a bad investment. Sometimes you get the drop on a Jenner and manage to back-core them before they know what's up, but more often than not it devolves in to a deathspiral.

Personally I rather stick with going for the heavies and assaults with the occasional slow medium thrown in.

Yeah, like said, as a general rule avoid straight up duels with lights.

This primarily refers to the 'traditional' circling of each other, as you're either not heavy enough to take them in a fight where their mobility mitigates yours and/or they're often better armed and armoured.

In these instances, if you win, there's little doubt you'll almost always come away severely damaged.

However, if you do engage a light, don't let them circle you - force them to chase you, facing backwards and torso twisting while you lead them to your team mates, or if possible chase them, get behind them and don't get off their tail (unless they lead you to their team mates), use your speed and mobility to keep at of their fire arc and in their rear armour.

and yah this tend to be the issue with a 1v1 light fight you just dont have the staying power to take that kind of damage and still be an asset to the team by that time normally you have taken to much damage to help to much

and as a friendly warning to locust pilots watch out for ac20s big time i learned that if a locusts armor is not at or near perfect an ac20 slug can and will 1 shot you found this you while lvling my highlanders runing a 733 that had a stock ac 20
