thing this is my best locust round ever, not sure . I think I normally end up in the 400+ in terms of damage and usually lots of assist and a kill or two (or three)

Nice match Bigbacon! Matches like that make the other team just curl up and cry knowing they were done in by a lolcust! Make them know fear!

I wish the game tracked your tonnage kills. I love knowing that I've killed Mechs with twice my tonnage in weapons alone.

That is an insane match.
Although I did manage to I think destroy one component off of each mech last night. I had 21 destructions with 12 mechs on their side lol.
All while cloaked under my ECM and hiding on Veridian, which is quite possibly the best map for this little evil death machine.
SO much so that I paid to get different camo colours so I blend in . That way if I shut down or such I am harder to spot :)

And after looking at my KDR and W/L.....I might be nuts but I'm thinking 3 Loci, and 1 KGC might be my first Drop deck. Just over the Min, and with lots of evil packed in 20T Chassis.

Best is if they are also getting shot in the front then they may not realise that someone is behind them dealing the bulk of the damage.
THIS! If you can creep up behind almost ANY mech without being noticed, just target it and wait for some inbound LRMs. As soon as they start hitting, unload into their back. They never figure it out. Ever. It's pretty great. Just take note of their name in case you see a new forum thread about "OMG LRM HITREG IS COMPLETELY BROKEN"

I wonder how many people complaining about hitboxes, and being shot in the face resulting in damage to their rear, is just Locust pilots?

Yeah I'm sure that happens. Sometimes when I destroy an enemy mech I like to walk on top of the wreckage to let him know that there was a light mech behind him. He should be able to see that in the death cam.

I like this :). Not only did I kill you but now I am stomping all over your carcass! Also, I still like the idea of a locust specific warhorn :D

Five kills, one match. Go.

I got that in the 1V, I believe, three months after they released them.

IIRC, the 1V is the mech I got it in first (I mean in any mech ever) as well, back when MGs owned things if you got close enough to use them. I've done it a few times since in my go-to mech, the 3M, though.

I just know they used to be better. Back when the video for the Dapperjager came out and stuff. They are still alright; I just can't seem to make them work for me on anything but the King Crab.

I find them pretty solid on the 1V, the Ember, the Dapperjager and my Vindicator.
Trying em with the King Crab, seem alright so far.

Anything with 2 is OK as a backup-crit seeking weapon.
Anything with 4+ is a good critseeker and can drop off a component in moments after armour is gone.

So I've finally (even though I've owned them since way back when the Phoenix Overlord package was available) decided to embrace the insanity that is the Locust, thanks in no small part to IraqiWalker.

Tried his LCT-1V build, which I think is awesome conceptually, and really keeps the spirit of that mech, but man...do I ever suck with that thing. I thought I was bad in Ravens? Oh man, Locusts are opening my eyes to how bad I can get. Match after match having trouble even cracking the 100 damage mark. So humbling man. Seriously.

Finally tried something else, which I so far seem to be a bit better in (match just now had 211 damage, 1 kill, 6 assists, and a match score of 69, which I will totally take under the circumstances ;) ).

This is my current build (http://mwo.smurfy-ne...1216a7ff2f78327), which I use with Vision and Siesmic, as well as ERLL Range/Cooldown modules, but I still haven't even completely maxed basics yet, and I know I still have a long way to go to even break into the "decent" category. All that being said though, I can see the appeal, since it really is fun being so fast and small and irritating, and when you DO get a kill, damn but it feels great.

Don't feel bad, I don't think I've ever broken 100 damage in my 1V. But I've had 700 damage matches in my 1E.

I guess it just comes down to whether or not you know how to use machine guns (or if you only use the ERLLas on the 1V, ... sniping?)

I've been messing with the V1 lately too. Got it mastered, but gotta say, its rough. Sniping can work out due to rapid fire ERL if you have the mods and range is epic, but few maps allow you to really take advantage of it. Radar Derp helps a lot too. I run Radar Derp, Zoom and Seismic. Breaking the 100 mark is possible, but it takes a lot of luck and being all sorts of crafty. Most games end with running for your life from an Ember or Spider. Trick is to find a mark, hit him 2 or 3 times and move. Also, don't take shots from the front. If they see where you are shooting from, your position is known and its only a matter of time before you have company. I found myself playing the V1 like my LRM boats (real LRMing, not spam boating) Fire and move, fire and move. Don't let them figure where you are. Best bet, take the time to sneak behind them and eat some back armor, then, dart off to a flank and repeat. Getting fair damage is easy, scoring kills... not so much. You don't have the lethality for a high kill score. You are here for consistent and harassing damage.

I also recognize that my role as a high speed harasser and sniper will become a bit easier once I unlock speed tweak. It's just the grind to speed tweak, and the realization that I have 2 more Locusts to load-up and grind before doing it, that is intimidating.

Still, I soldier on. ;)

And yeah, the range/cooldown boosts on that thing. Unbelievable. It almost makes your ERLL feel like a Pulse laser...

Anyone using the fall damage module on their Locust? Been tinkering with the idea since it seems like it could assist with a high speed get-away and allow you to do a bit more cliff-jumping in the right scenarios, but I don't know if it would be worth sacrificing another module to use.

Don't have it. I rock target decay, adv arty strike, spl cooldown and range, and radar dep on my twinked out 3M. Going to get adv uav soon for it, and after that, maybe seismic.
