That hurts. Especially when a mere day before patch notes hit I bought the 1M just to have fun with 1km TAGging. Ah well. Time to adapt. And play a lot more 1V.

So i should take that ERLL off and put a LPL and nip at the enemies heels?

So what are the cool kids running on their PB's these days? I have been jumping around between 4ml (way to generic for my tastes though) and Ovion's 4 spl, 2 mg build (has no arm or head armor so it isn't for the faint of heart). Anyway, what are you guys running now, and will the upcoming 20% ROF quirk entice you to dare the blinding muzzle flash of machine guns?

I'm running a single ERPPC and ECM. It's kind of a joke, since I couldn't quite figure out what else to do with it.

No, I'm not running 2MGs on anything, RoF buff notwithstanding. 2 is not enough. I'd just run myself out of ammo faster in that machine anyway. 4SPL isn't bad, but it's not good either since the PB has the same mobility quirks as the 3M and 1E.

I may have to go back to some kind of MPL-based build at some point, since that worked really well for me in the past.

Actually, you know what I kind of miss? Yes, the 3M, I know, I rant about it a bunch. But also the 4 MG + 1 MPL 1V. It wasn't really good for me, since my patience isn't sufficient to wait for open components, but it was a neat idea on a neat 'Mech.

Still the classic 4SPL, 2MG for me. You just don't need that extra armour, those bits don't do anything and you can live without them. (well, not the head, but when was the last time you got headshot in a Locust ;) )

Still sticking with the 6SPL 1E, because they're classics - they work without or without quirks, so are basically untouched by changes.

Funny thing you should mention that. I took my LCT-1E out for a spin yesterday, with 0 armor on the head.

40 seconds into the match on Crimson Straits, spotted enemy team from halfway between Epsilon and the big island in the middle of the water. Flashed locks across the whole group to give an indication of how many enemies there are in that particular area.

Boom. Locust falls over dead, and I was confused as all hell. I front-loaded the crap out of my armour, so how did I go down in one hit?

Turned out it was a RVN-4X running full tilt across the top of the platform firing dual ERPPC bolts. They happened to hit square on my cockpit >.>

I went back to my SplatFox after that. Just not my night :P

Ouch.
In 2-3 years, across 8 locusts, regularly running 1/0 armour on the head, I've been headshot maybe twice.
So that's crazy bad luck man.

I one time had the mg ammo critted out of my pb's head without dying. I am not even sure that is possible, but it happened anyway.

Could be the ammo was destroyed without exploding. An ammo explosion of a fresh ton of MG ammo is 160 damage.

The muzzle flash doesn't bother me, I usually close my eyes when I pull the trigger anyway Posted Image

[smurfy]http://mwo.smurfy-ne...7a8fb4883f283d8[/smurfy]

I like keeping a ML on there, just so I have a ranged item to plink at enemies early in the game, sometimes I also replace it with a TAG if I'm feeling like a challends. I don't know why I feel like I need the AMS, but the sound of it alone comforts me - also the 175XL is only there because I am too lazy to keep uninstalling one of my 180XL from my Urbies.

Better sharpen your executioner's axes, guys. Flamer stun is real. Check out the latest NGNG video on the flamer update.

Work on getting those headshots, because your 20-point alpha in their cockpit is going to be absolutely deadly.

I'm thinking of strapping flamers back on my Ember. The problem though, is that the time before the flamers start overheating my mech has been reduced, making them even harder to use. They'll ruing an Arctic Cheetah's day though.

You can just let go of the flamers for a split second, then keep firing. It resets the timer.

Do you think chain-fire will still work to reset the self-overheat?

Also, wow. I think I finally found a 'Mech that I love more than my Locusts. My Jenner IIC is SO FUN to drive. I just got out of a match where I was the last one standing where I had to force a draw due to actually expending all of my ammo. That's really rare for me. If they do a Locust IIC, I'm buying the expletive out of it. All of it. DO A LOCUST IIC, PGI!

Xl180 2xspl, 2xmpl no arm armour barely any on head.

On a seperate note been getting annoyed by being kicked out of t3 every single time i get into it i lose. So i went what the hell attempt four ill take my 1v and was rewarded with a gem of a game. Two kills on a warhammer and a marauder plus a very dangerous duel with an ebon jag which i barely survived. I really should just stick to locusts.

You know....

LCT-IIC-9:

350 XXL engine. On a 25-ton mech, with two Improved Heavy Medium Lasers and a LAMS. Last I calculated, that's a 25-tonner that can run at a blistering 224kph after speed tweak.

PGI pls. Can we have this?!

My final match with the wonderful Tagmaster 1M turned into one of the funnest matches I've ever had. A good salute to a build I didn't get to use long but that I'll definitely miss.

The pug dropped us in Crimson. After the initial grouchiness at the saddle, I sprinted up over and behind the enemy. Not an immediate target, I set up a little business of feeding target information to my team from the next ZIP code. It went on for a mere minute before it was clear that red team was going to come out on top. I'm sure sitting far away and tossing the occasional LRM5 cluster wasn't helping much.

Suddenly I was the only mech left against a team of seven with almost seven minutes on the clock. Feeling bad about the prospect of forcing spectators to watch a dinky mech try to survive, I flicked on my microphone. I mumbled something like "Hey, I'm new. This is just a fun build. 1km sensor and TAG range, heheh. It's getting patched out and I'm saying goodbye. I'll just go jump into the meat grinder and end the match."

The response was an immediate "Don't give up! Make them work for it!" followed by "You can do it little locust!" and soon the rest of the team was joining in. Surprised and emboldened, I thanked my lucky stars that I'd put a Radar Dep module on the boat and zoomed off to give the enemy team a good fox hunt.

Already under pursuit I zigzagged off through buildings and leaped into the water to take cover. Hoping that the turtles following me were a little thick and realizing that I needed to go somewhere I hugged the coast before hooking inland to climb the big middle hill. Somehow nobody saw me and I made it safely to the top. Scanning around, I saw a few enemies and (at my team's overwhelming encouragement) started hurling missiles at an armless, armorless, AMSless hunchback 900m away.

As you might expect, this did almost no damage but it certainly pissed off red team. A whole lot more than one crippled mech started coming up the mountain at me. I flew off the mountain and kicked off round two of the urban dodging and sprinting challenge. Someone on the team suggested "Hide underwater!" and a few others followed that up with "Dive! Dive! Dive!" Already laughing I l leaped off the northwest cliffs and powered down as soon as I was right up against the edge of the map.

Facing the shore and knowing that my time was about to come, who should walk around that corner but the messed up HBK. By some miracle the pilot didn't spot me and kept bumblefucking along the shore. Two red team buddies followed him and when they were facing away I powered back up and ambushed them with my ML. Right about then the other four reds showed up. I died real ******* fast, but not before I took down the hunchback. There were cheers.

It was an abysmal match but it'll be a great memory. Definitely a good sendoff. Thanks for the build, Fox.

My pet build had been "Mixed Greens," with 2MPL, 2ML, and an XL180. 3MPL was a close second. The ECM helped offset the reduced speed.

I haven't run PB since the skill nerf though. Might go to an e-war build with a BAP and 4ML. Even if the counter effect isn't enabled, it still allows for better sensor range, targeting data speed, and shutdown detection/locks. That, or I'll just find a place to jam another DHS.
