Nice idea, but you need 4 more heatsinks to make it work.

i've run this but drop case, and use 2 MGs + 1 ton ammo and make it an ERLL

i would also make the rear armor 4 on each point. I'd also drop ferro because if you ever want to drop the LL you'll need those slots for more MGs and what not.

Or just take a normal large laser and basically never overheat

Locust is underrated for many reasons. Easy to leg and kill, looks weird compared to its original counterpart that everyone was use too, Spider 5k does the job 1000% better, Locust puts up a fight that doesn't even live up to its name (unless you are really good), and you can easily spot it going anywhere because its profile is like a small cicada. All in all its just used because you can acquire it very cheaply.

its really not that bad, I rarely get legged and most of the time my deaths are my fault because I did something stupid like hung around too long back stabbing someone or got hung up on something.

Their leg hitboxes are notoriously hard to hit now. The hitbox fix for them was great.

So, the more I use this thing the sweeter it tastes to me. Had a match on tourmaline (not really even a map I like very much) last night where an enemy jager decided to try and solo flank my team. Returned from forward scouting to flank him just as he engaged my team's left flank. He turned to face me when I zapped through his back armor in two shots, and promptly lost most of his armor to the rest of my teammates, after which I wound up sawing his legs off. Went back to what I was doing, and wound up behind the main body of the enemy with some kind of gauss sniper misery and an atlas. Took them on in tandem, and wound up tearing them to pieces. Shoot until hot, run in a circle behind the hill, repeat. End result, 3 kills, 3 assists, 440+ damage. A personal best for me in any mech. Still haven't even finished basic efficiencies either. Locust is kind of a beast, except when you round a corner and get one-shot by ppc+gauss before you can so much as engage the enemy. Hit or miss as a mech, but more hit than miss imho.

I've had that same problem. Took me several drops in my slow BLR to shake off the speed addiction.

Also, i like that ERPPC set up. It's gonna be very annoying. Especially if you team up with a CDA-3M packing 2 ERPPCs. His ECM plus your third PPC shot, will be a nightmare if you coordinate.

yea i'm liking it as an annoyance. Had a great round on caustic valley using advance zoom and sitting in the back hills around and taking shots.

Again though it is one of those things that the team you are on never takes advantage of. I'll get 3 or 4 guys watching for me to pop up again and my team will just be hiding behind a hill somewhere doing nothing.

kinda peeved with the coming SSRM damage reduction...makes the 1M and 3S even less of a threat.

here is to hoping they can fix the SRM hit detection.

edit

maybe I am a tard....I keep forgetting it is X damage per missile....kept thinking it was going to be 2dmg be salvo but it is 4..

guess it still kind of sucks.

An XL400 goes a long way toward that... or so I am (semi-hemi-demi) reliably informed :D

Amen to that. When I decide to change my 1S to a brawler set up. I will definitely slap an XL 400 in there.

Technically a slightly smaller one would be more effective (I think) as the sheer weight of the 400 prevents adding more heatsinks/weaponry.

Having said that - it is much easier to get an XL400 (especially with the BH on sale) than a 380, 390, or whatever.
XL 380 is 6(!) tons lighter after all - and you only lose ~4KPH mastered

I threw an XL375 in mine, since it also let me max out the engine in my Wolverine 6K. The Battlemasters handle the XL well, and really go a long way towards curing their sluggishness

Beautiful thing about the 375 - room for 5 heat sinks in it. It makes it a lot easier to energy boat if you can throw in a stupid amount of heat sinks.

Will the new jumpfall module be a must have for a Locust?

No, they also recalculated how fall damage happens now. So the Locust is going to be much better, without the need for the module. The module is excellent though.

I want to save for the target deprivation (I think it's called?) one. Used it a bit on the PTS, and really liked it. I also liked how the dire wolf chassis tends to get left behind by its friends. My locust loooooves the new clan mechs. Loves them. I felt like I could run through lasers without a scratch, probably because of the slower burn on C-lasers. And the new AC? Burst mode? Slightly more likely to take one shot, far less likely to die from getting one-shotted. The advent of the locust is nigh, my friends. If we get CW based on tonnage, the locust will be THE IS platform to use. Lowest tonnage cost of anything, 50% faster than anything the clans can field, and surprisingly dangerous for as few weapons as you can carry. It'll rule the battlefield until the fire moth is made.

Spiders will also be good, I suppose.
