Sooooo, my 4 year old son dropped my laptop on the ground and now it doesn't boot up. It is now necessary that I live vicariously through you guys. How do the little bugs play after the second great nerfening (#neverforgetlct3m)? Also, are there any good decals for decorating your swarm?

(Ps. Hard to be mad at a 4 year old that meets you at the door with a Battletech map in his hand saying "Can we play mechs?)

I imagine they will eventually be nice, but right now they don't shade or light properly so just look out of place.

******* hell.

I guess the incompetent whiners have won yet again.

Let's take the lightest most unarmored mech in the game and remove even more of it's armor.

I am pretty sure anyone of us would still play the locust even if it only had 4 armour on it's legs max.

also I have not yet played since a while before the nerf so am hoping to play my 1V and 3V.

Had of lot of fun with my Pirates Bane the last weeks. The Nerf shouldn't really hit me any bad. I mean, what does a PB have arms for anyways? And nobody ever bothered to aim for my legs, always going for center torso. So screw this little bit of armor, but still, I'm failing like really hard the last few matches. Anything else besides the armor nerfed on the PB or am I just having a stroke of bad luck?

Oh I'm still playing but the nerfs to the 1v are noticeable.

The extra face time is only made worse by the structure nerfs, one or the other would of been fine but both is pretty horrific.

And the legs are even worse, the people that couldn't aim before don't even need to try now. They can just sweep a laser alpha over your legs and you will be in trouble.

Kodiak gets a nerf and KDK pilots whine and cry and go away. Locust pilots get a nerf and suddenly it's all "F- YOU! CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!"

Right screw you PGI.

(Something funny going on with link not saving full allowed armour).

Let's be honest gents, the Locust had +16 LEG ARMOUR.

That was 40 hitpoints on each leg compared to 48 on an unquirked 35 tonner. Equal to a 30 tonner.
The locust was just above half the size of the poor 35 tonners.

By PGI's baseline, this was unfair.

Let's get real. How many firestarters, panthers and wolfhounds did you see last month? The light queue was literally oxides for 2 days, then locusts and arctic cheetahs.

I wish my computer was up and running. I was looking at the quirk changes a little more closely and thinking it looks like the 1v is the only one that I will have to change load outs, maybe. I have jumped back and forth in the past on the 1e between 6ml and 6spl so I will have to try them both again. Nothing changes on the 3s or PB. 1m still looks like 2mpl&2srm2. 3v is the pile of crap it was before and low and behold, with its 25% cooldown quirks the 3m has meaning and purpose again. So, no the sky isn't falling and this will change very little for long time locust pilots. Just all the people that jumped on the bandwagon will fall off now. Honestly, I really just wish they would have left locust pre-rescale size and left the quirks alone.

On a side note. It would have been interesting to give the 1v mpl specific quirks and buffed its mg's so it could go back to its original role instead of boating 1 super laser (which I admit was really fun ;) )

Part of that is the absurdity of how tall the humanoid lights got. As a guy who really got into Panthers, the rescale REALLY hurt the brawling variants. That one arm that houses 4 out of 5 hard points the 9r is so easy to pick off now...

The 10k is still a monster ppc machine, but range posts a large role in that. I moved to locusts because I wanted a light that still feels like a light. Consequently I think I feel in love, and agree that the locust is still going to be at the to of the fun IS mech roster, when in the right hands. And like I nodded to before, it is kinda nice to see all of our salt turn to resolve.

Send like tenacity is a required trait for strapping on one of these rockets with legs... Now if only we can talk pgi into giving us the ARROW IV, I know it weighs 15t, but I'm sure we could make it fit ;)

(I would actually much rather have snub ppcs, light ppcs, or xpulse lasers)

Embarrassing note, I have just notice the my Wolfhound appears to be eye level with the Awesome on the testing grounds...

Yeah, the Locust will do fine. It's the rest of us who are screwed.

Well, i still love the Locusts.

Only change was:

Before the patch you either got lucky, you met someone less skilled and had fun wih it. Or you got someone equal skilled and had an interresting match. Or got unlucky and killed quickly.

Now you can get lucky and have an interresting match, or someone just oneshotkills you (maybe legs you first and then kills you) because he/she got lucky.

So the locust is still fun when it's fun, only those fun matches are scarcer.

Locust is very hit-or-miss, but once in a while you manage those amazing matches with 700+ damage and a match score of 500.

Enough to make up for all the times I got one-shotted by some triple ERPPC monkey with a lucky shot. Posted Image

To be fair to the Awesome, for the front torso fix it got, they made the SIDE profile of the torso far wider.

It's always been a short, squat mech.

After a few matches more, I think, I just had a stroke of bad luck, and yeah, +16 Leg Armor, each, was a little overkill anyways. So, PGI, Challenge Accepted Posted Image

i have a question, probably a noob one but can someone please tell me if in snafets when it says 18% heat dissipation on the 1V is that a positive or negative? because I can't tell if it is telling me that it dissipates more heat or less.
