THAT is a great set up for a 1V. I will try it out for sure.

After reading other sections of the forums last night I seen someone talking about a locust build I had not yet tried, I updated my post with much insanity look again. also now poor again I just cant help myself T__T

Oh GOD! Whyyyyyy?
The good news is that you won't need THAT much in C-Bills for the clan mechs (looks like the most expensive bunch will be about 10-12 mil, instead of the TT 23+mil.)

I want more advanced Locust load outs that use standard engines instead of XL engines. Occassionally, I get into games with mechs that can kill my XL locusts in one hit. The left and right torsos do not hold enough HP to stand against the meta 35 alpha strike. Only the large center torso can survive a hit by 1 hp and with a standard engine the locust can sheild itself with the side torsos without worry of a XL engine blow out. Ones the sides are destroyed they add damage mitigation if shot instead of being shot directly in the center torso.

So does anyone have some standard engine builds I can use?

Koniving has some (I think?) and there is always Tesunie's Locust
Big problem is though - locust does not really have the health to survive a 35 point strike anywhere - max health on the CT is only 36 - which means that unless you go 0 rear 24 front - you will die to any 35 point hit that hits any torso.

Though you could try running a modified stock build I suppose..

you are so limited on weight for weapons as is but you can take a 3S with a STD180 1ML and 4SL and you'll be pretty good to go.

1E STD 180 + 6SL

save some weight and remove the head armor.

with the XLs you get like 6 to 7 tons for weapons/ammo

looks like STDs you get maybe 3 to 4 ton for weapons so you greatly limit yourself it seems to me. I would take an engine less than a 180 unless you have speed tweak then a 170 is the lowest.

the missile ones, for me you really need 2 tons of ammo or you'll get left stranded quickly (least for me)

sadly again, the STD engines just steal weight that you greatly need for these things.

i think you mean the 3M, the 3S is the missile one. but yeah probably the 1E or 3M are the only ones that would be STD engine friendly since lasers are the lightest weapons the extra weight of the std engine wouldn;t hurt them as much.

i agree that 2 tons is what you need for missile ammo or don;t bother- unless you want a lone SRM2 or streak, then 1 ton of ammo will last, even going to a srm 4 means you're going to run out of ammo halfway through a match. or least that's what happens to me.

My standard Lct-3M is essentially stock, I moved the AMS ammo to the head so I could swap CASE for an extra half tonne of armor, and added DHS, but the overall load-out remains unchanged. My Lct-1E runs 4 Med Lasers on a standard 180 engine and is linked below...

ETA:
Most of the stock load outs are reasonably effective so long as you add Endo and DHS.

LCT1-V almost sock is good enough.

LCT-1V

Stock 3M is fine. Lose Case, and upgrade to DHS. You'd be fine

The 1E stock is good. Just get all upgrades, and you have 1.5 tons (roughly) to use. I slapped AMS

LCT-1E

Just wanted to add that while the Locust does have a special place in my heart I do wonder why it is only light mech without either a Jump jet or ECM variant? Would adding one or the other of those really turn it from one of the 'worst' mechs to being OP? And I hope the new fall mechanic won't be the final nail in this misunderstood mech's coffin.

ECM makes sense to me if it is suppose to be a scouting or support mech to begin with. the JJ don't bother me though.

True, they climb hills well enough without it. :)

As for ECM - I think the ECM variant is well out of timeline, but don't quote me on that (really)
Or alternatively - the Locust was build to be cheap - ECM is a (relatively) more expensive piece of equipment.

The ECM Variant is either mid or post Jihad unfortunately, so a loooong way off yet.

Ecm or jjs on a hero would be nice but screamed p2w even tho its a Locust.

I would like something unique as a hero, say 2 machine guns, 2 srm2s and like 2 small lasers

i want a hero locust so bad.....

they should do that... like give it like a 170 to 190xl, endo, DHS, 2 SL in CT, 2MGs, and 2 SRM2, ton ammo each for each arm. (1 balistic, 1 missile per arm)

what is that.. 1 ton + 1 ton + 2 tons + 2 tons? that fits with in the locust parameters. with endo and DHS.

so 2 beam, 2 ballistic, 2 missile.

hell, i'd buy any hero locust they toss out, they could go the arrow route and do 6MGs and like 2 SLs...

oh and ECM for giggles.

Yeah.
2, 2, 2, AMS, would be good tiimes.

Give it a Police Squad scheme, and call it the 33-1/2.

Alternatively, yeah, a pseudo 5W2, with ECM, 2 MLas and a TAG, just no MASC.
That's 4.5T, so so space for a few other bits too.

Best thing is when a hero locust does finally come it will only be 1500MC or they could go the fang/flame route and bring out more than one locust to still have decent sales that week.

So grabbed my locust with the ERPPC (7 tons) on it and slapped on a LL and 2ML (also 7tons) has 1.37 heat efficiency and I managed to do 295ish damage and one kill before my team go rolled on caustic, people who say locusts are crap and there is no variety to their builds are crazy... was max engine too.

Also 2mpl, 2spl and 2sl is an idea for the 1E

Armor was at 107 with a 190xl but you could always drop the engine down a little for some more armor.
