Well given that the light numbers sit around 6-12ish percent we are a rare breed.

One worth standing our ground and fighting for.

Yeah, I end up the only light in the game on my team pretty often now. Not that I really mind that.

I still drive around in them, but I'm probably nowhere near your skill bracket.

It is as much luck as it is skill - any decent shot at you and you collapse.

Most players aim for a 30-35 damage alpha, and the absolute most heavily armored section you can have is 36
(24 front, 0 rear, 12 internal. CT)

There is some skill in learning the approach (IE, looking like less of a target) but the moment anyone with decent gunnery notices you and decides to take the time, you are out of the fight.

And THAT is what keeps the Locust out of any competitive groups short of SMM, where it's position as the fastest stock mech in the game is only contested by the Cicada, which was designed as a 40 ton Locust anyways, but has the disadvantage of maneuvering like a ground-bound Jenner.

Quite possibly

Quite possibly

If by stupid you mean being unable or unwilling to think
I rather doubt it.

Welcome to the club, we have jackets.

Also, there are plenty of builds in here to help you master the art of the fragile squirrel. Ask if you need any help.

Also, which one did you buy?

Good choice there plenty of ways to play the 3M and the support usage of the 2 AMS is fantastic. Or you can go all lasers either way it is great. Better start than the missile variants.

yeah like Monkey said, good pick- most people tend to agree it's the best of the Locusts (assuming you can twist their arms to the point where they have to pick one as being "least useless" in some people's cases) due to the biggest potential alpha and the dual AMS. if you bravely decide to go for the mastery/eliting the 1E and 1M seem to be the more popular of the remaining 4 though i have a soft spot for the original missile dingy (cause it's too small to be a boat) the 3S.

and i knew you seemed familiar Monkey when i dropped against you in your single handed victory on Manifold yesterday where you got 7 kill/5 assist in your jager (think it was dual gauss) during your 12-10 win. i was the LRM treb you killed at the end. i just couldn;t remember where i remember you from til i came back into this thread.

Id say the 3M is the best beginner choice as the 6 hardpoints in the 1E may cause overheating issues to the untrained.

As for the jager thing well that is a different person with monkey in the name (there are quite a lot, a few marik too) I dont even own a jager anymore. I had the missile variant when they first came out but it was just too slow for my liking and I sold it. I almost entirely drive lights these days, then some med/aslts and I only own a K2 and a dragon in the heavy category.

Anyone tried a fast narc platform yet? http://mwo.smurfy-ne...efd1bc9cd124b33

I am too lazy to get in a decent sized group to test out the last narc updates.

Or if you play with a group you can swap the ML for a tag and take a "fighting" ecm raven with you and you are set.

i just meant of the other 4 variants besides the 3M the 1E is considered one of the better options for the Locust (hardly anyone has a nice word about the 1V and the 3S gets complaints about not being able to use all 4 missile hardpoints w/o heat issues). i actually run my 1E with just a LPL and a SL because of the heat with anything other than 6SL in the 1E, and it's different than most locust builds i see out there..

as for that match i don;t remember the house the other Monkey was, maybe they had an extra space or something in the name- thought it was you when i saw you posting here. oh well i've been wrong many times before what's one more?

but with the fix for the SRMs the 3S and 1M are useful though even if you can't get all 4 bays on the 3s filled. SSRMs are all bt useless now on the locust.

1 SRM2 and 1 SRM4 is pretty awesome (or 3 SRM2s on the 3s)

I actually started using the SRM2 and 4 modules to get that extra 12m and it has actually been a great plus as I've seen it help me out a bunch of times now. You wouldn't think 12m is a lot but it just gives you that little extra edge to keep your distance.

i should try the LPL option on the 1E but i think the locust does best with fast cool down weapons even if they do less damage.

1 LL/ERLL + 3SL is also a good option on the 1E/3M

EDIT:
b+ugg+er is bad word?

i run my 3S with 1ML and 3 SRM2s w/ 2 tons of ammo. lasts a bit longer and runs cooler. 4 just is too hot. even 2SRM4s is kinda iffy. i never bothered with streaks because you also need to cram in BAP and i'd rather use that extra 1.5 tons for weapons/armor/engine space. 1M i actually went w/ 2MPLs and an arty SRM 2 (i actually run out of slots to fit everything trying to either add a 2nd srm 2 or a extra ton of ammo- could have either or but not both)

thought about the LL/3 SL build but never got around to trying it.seems like it would work ERLL to snipe then the SLs for up close stuff.

the thing i've noticed with the LPL build though is once you show you can hit their legs once or twice with it in a short period of time a lot of lights won;t stick around to see if you can get that third and fourth hits in. so yes i've had lights run from my Locust 1v1 (except firestarters, i hate seeing firestarters in my locusts). the SL i tossed in because 1) i was at 19.6 tons w/ just the LPL so shaved off a couple points of armor and tossed an SL on it and 2) if you're running hot/waiting on cooldown you can keep firing the SL til you cool down enough to use the LPL again, keeps the other mech kinda honest since you're still shooting at it.

yea thats what I was doing on the 3S, 1 ML (sometimes SPL) and 3 SRM2s but I think I had more than 2 tones of ammo (2-1/2 or 3? can't remember)

1M i was doing 2SL, 1 SRM2, and 1 SRM4 and whatever ammo I had left.

I guess I'm all mainly for short cool downs and short durations. I just had an amazing round in the 3M with 3MPL + 2SL..was last one alive against 4 and won at last second with a mad rush into enemy base cause last guy ran there. turrets got me highly critical and I overheated on the last blast that killed the guy...heart was racing for like 45 minutes after that round and I had to stop playing.

also...I am starting to really enjoy pestering folks that go out with regular PPCs....like they forget about the 90m minimum range...three times in the last 2 days I ran into mechs like that and you just get in there face and they panic like crazy and just keep wasting heat using those PPCs on you.

So never take just PPCs...take at least one of each if you want to dual them or if you take just one, you better have a backup weapon better than MGs and not be a slow mech...

I'm pretty sure they don't like the sexual implications of the verb definition. The filter wouldn't let me use pretty much anything I could think of as an alternate equivalent, lol. Was going to say, "Blahblahblah" definition, and basically copy/pasta that.
