From what I've been told, Machine Guns cone expands as you fire, starting off smallish (1-2 components at optimal / max range) expanding as you fire to cover the entire mech or more.

So it's better to fire your MGs in bursts, rather than hold down the trigger.

No. MGs work like a laser.

They do as far as travel time is concerned
Except they do have a cone of fire

Stand in the testing grounds ~150-200 meters from your target and you will hit multiple parts

Ok - I just put DHS on my first Locust (the 1E as should be obvious)

Now to find that 6SPL build

ISSUE: Don't know if it's just me, but suddenly It's really hard to break 100 Damage in a 1V. Is it Machine guns, Hit Reg, or just me as a player?

MGs did get nerfed several months ago. I want them to be a pinpoint weapon, instead of the template one that we have right now. MGs right now operate like flamers, hitting multiple parts instead of exactly where you're aiming.

Absolutely. I've only played it a few times, only once in a locust, but it is fun!

I do so love when I get top score in a Locust.

Posted Image

I wish I could make 200,000 in all my matches.

I also wish I didn't have to go to work so I had a decent shot at the challenge today. It'd be nice if we got like, a week's notice before they were doing a challenge, I think. Totally had time I could have used for that if I had realized it was happening.

In a Hero Mech with Premium Time, it's not too hard (thanks clan packs xD).

I'm hoping we get the Locust Hero soon, then I'll master it in a day or so. :D

I respect you pilots, cause y'all have balls to pilot these little frail things, but the Locust isn't that underrated.

Someday we may have to start the overrated locust thread. But untill then...

Someone should start an "I was killed by a locust" support thread on the assault builds page. :D

I think all assaults need a support thread when these little terrors are about.

I had one park itself right behind my Victor, and I regret only putting 4pts of armor in the back.

This is part of the reason why I never go below 16 on the rear on my mechs. Just in case one of those 6 SPL lunatics is around.

Normally I keep it up more Walker, but lately I've been finding my frontal is lacking so I changed my loadouts a bit.

I paid for it today lol,

I took the plunge and acquired 2 Locusts.. of course they're the ones that have the armor and structure upgrades already, the 3M and the 3S.

The 3S has really surprised me. 4 SRM2s and a ML can be pretty potent, and I really like the missiles because I fire them and get the hell away. I've actually survived a few times to the point where I run out of SRM ammo. That's crazy! I like it so far, I can consistently get a kill and 300+ dmg.

The 3M so far is another story. I simply eat sh*t in this mech lol. A split second really can mean life or death in this mech, and having to face the enemy with lasers can be tricky. I've tried 5 SPLs, which works okay, but I never was comfortable with the range of SPLs and SLs.

Any idea what I should be looking at for the third Locust? The 1V can do 4 MGs, but then you're even more dependant on your team to open up armor. 1M has two missile slots, maybe do a 2 MLs and whatever SRMs can fit.

This really is MWO on hard mode. I really want to see how these work with speed tweak tho, it's like nearly a 20 kph bonus!

Speed tweak is a huge difference (allows you to run XL 170s with more dakka/cooling while still going at top notch speeds.), for the 3M I recommend one of 3 builds:

5 SPLs or MLs, 3 SPLs or MLs with 2xAMS, or a mix of SLs and MLs.

For a 3rd locust, the 1V is great to round out your variety in builds. You can also go with either of the others as they handle much like the two you currently own. Which allows you to run identical or close enough set ups on different mechs.

As for hard mode: Welcome to the ranks of the lunatics, and the criminally insane. We got strait jackets and Oreos. I sincerely hope you enjoy your time with the other locusts.

It really is an unforgiving machine.

I also want to apologize to any try-hard I-only-run-laserwolfs-so-I-can-win-every-game crowd that happens to end up on my team lol.

Hopefully when I hop back in my Firestarter I will be better.

Just had a hilarious match where I got legged by an Oxide about a third of the way through it, and wound up using my crippled leg as a shield for my other red internal structure one. Managed to soak 2 or 3 alphas from a Griffin and one from a Stormcrow (which I legged as it ran past) and end the match alive, against all odds. SRM12? I'm cool, I have 5SPL.

Ah man, I love this machine. It's pretty fragile, but every once in a while I get amazed at how durable it is. Went from 170kph skirmisher to 15-40kph tank and somehow pulled it off.

edit: Oh yeah, the point. If you have a borked leg, swing your lower half around to hide your good one.

I ran mine with 4SL and 1ML in the nose.

Haven't quite been comfortable with just SL (except on 2 Firestarters) but the ML ran to hot (SHS clear through Mastery)
Use the ML for poking people with - and the SL for infighting
