Anyone find anything better to do with a LCT-1M than this? http://mwo.smurfy-ne...ebc6d065080542d

Had one match with it so far, and it seems pretty decently functional, but, I'm curious to see if anyone else has some fun ideas with this sucker. I HAVE to use this one of course, since it's a Davion mech. :P

LCT-1M
This is my goto Locust most of the time.

ATM, my favourite and best performing, with consistent decent damage output.
Good for strafing passes, firing off 1-2 volleys of missiles with the lasers as you go.

Just had my best match in any Locust with the LCT-1M build I linked above. Still modest in the grand scheme of things, but it felt much better. Viridian Bog, 2 kills, 4 assists, roughly 450 damage.

And I'm testing it with the Fall Damage module. So far it actually feels like a real help in Locusts. When you need to just book it and escape, being able to jump off a decent sized cliff without losing a leg. Saved my little butt at least 3 times in that match.

Can't wait to unlock two things. Speed Tweak and that 3rd module slot...

The difference between tweaked and nontweaked is phenominal.

Only time I've ever (and likely ever will) spent MC on GXP conversion was to get my Pirates Bane Tweaked.
I know your pain (from doing the other 5 manually) and am well on the way to mastering the Bane now....

Stick with it though, the end result is worth it.

With your build though, if that's the armour distribution, I'd front load it more.
Something like this LCT-1M will make you a little more survivable, the armour on your back is so low, anything big will drop you anyway, and 2/3/2 is enough to stop tickling lasers on your ass.
But the extra front armour will let you take at least 1 AC20 shot to the face, and with your torso twist range you can use your front armour as rear when being chased, and trade shots at the same time.

This build LCT-1M drops some ammo for mediums meaning it's far easier to put all the damage in one location while flying by.
This will be more important once you've Speed Tweaked the mech though.
Dropping the armour on the head and arms doens't especially matter, as the head hitbox is almost non-existant.
The arms are teency so can get away with little armour.
At max I've never lost an arm before a torso.
Since I started running 5 arm armour, I've lost an arm maybe 3 times before I just died.

I kinda want to try a LPL locust, but at the same time... I don't think it'll be as good as a 2 MPL locust sooo.....

Those are some interesting points. I've been sticking with the MLs over the MPLs simply to capitalize on the quirks. With the modules it gets my MLs almost out to the range or a LL, and the recycle time is pretty sweet.

I have noticed that I almost never lose an arm though. May have to give the arm armor suggestion a shot. I definitely like the suggestion of more armor in the front. I was already trying to go what I was considering "low" armor to the back, and don't see much reason not to go lower, especially once I get Speed Tweak.

Really finding I enjoy this Locust more than the LCT-1V. It plays a bit like a smaller/faster Huggin that can't jump. For the sake of faction pride, I think I'm going to work on the 3S next, but I'm still trying to decide how I deck it out.

I run my 3S with 1ml and 3srm2 because I don't like to be completely ammo dependent. I keep the srms on chainfire most of the time so they are like machine gun missiles. With 3 the first one is rearmed by the time you fire the 3rd so I don't miss the 4th one. But also consider that I am not a top tier locust pilot so take my advice wih a grain of salt.

The locust really made me challenge my preconceptions about how to armour my mech.

Every time I came back to it, it felt so alien and wrong to leave so little armour in certain places.

I normally go around 6-12 armour on the head, max everywhere else and a 1:3 ratio on torsos.
The locust you really haven't the armour to worry anyway.

You're never going to get head shot. (I think maybe... once in around 400 matches in a locust have I been killed by a headshot, and I'm sure that was accidental.)
And I know people (many in this thread) who run 0 head armour.

But at the end of the day, Locusts are really like nothing else in the game.

Faster and more nimble than pretty much everything, smaller than everything, and with armour made of a stiff card, boasting twin heavy peashooters.
It's amazing, and according to my stats, fully 1/5th of my games are in the seat of a Locust.

I regret nothing.

You and me both! xD

I can actually tell people how to play a Locust better than I can pilot them...... ><

I've said before that if I would just take all of my own advice I would be a much much better pilot :)

And there is something special about locusts that drags my pointer over to them whenever I am in my mechbay deciding which mech to take out :) even though I should be mastering mechs for my CW drop deck instead. I just finished mastering the 1e and I have speed tweak on the 3m so I will finish mastering that one next then on to the 3s...

LCT-1M
The small size, speed, and accel/decel quirk makes it a great little Narc launcher. I have a lot of fun with it.

Locusts (The insect) come in hordes that ruin crops. In the U.S. that is namely corn. They will eat an entire field within a day.

Okay.

It's official.

I am well and truly hooked on, no, absorbed completely by, no, compulsively obsessed with...playing my Locusts.

You have to work so hard for every little bit of anything in a Locust, and you're just as likely to die in a glorious fireball as actually be of any use. But damn. When you pull it off...it gets in your head man. It somehow feels 3 times more rewarding to have even a decent game in a Locust, than to have an excellent game in almost anything else I've played.

What is this madness?

I will neither confirm, nor deny, that I may...or may not have...just purchased a 1E, leaving me needing only a Pirate's Bane to complete my..."collection"...

Or not. I'm not admitting to anything.

I think everyone who enjoys playing a Locust has also enjoyed the Dark Souls games, or would definitely enjoy them if they haven't played them. Nice, relaxing, casual games, those.

Welcome to the club. :)
I'm working to getting all 7 of mine fully kitted.

By this time next year, I intend to have all 7 Mastered, with an XL190 (plus a spare XL180 and XL170 for the set (not each, that's just crazy)), and a full set of modules each.

This is going to take a while.

Have only 1 mech in hangar, haha. After few tries on Ravens (want buy them back after some time) and JGM-6S, stopped on LCT-3M. Fully uprgaded it's really great mech to annoy big guys. Love it so much.
