How could I hate you when I've started to love the Dire Whale? Almost as far from a Locust as it's possible to get.

It's horrible against locusts tho. I just spray 'n pray and hope for someone with Streaks/pulse lasers to keep them off me.

3UAC5 2UAC10 is sorta the strongest Dakka build that you can mount on any mech in the game.
Your build doesn't have that double tap burst damage and that's pretty stripped down for armour. A Highlander IIC probably has 15-20% armour than your Dire.

I'd still think dropping some mediums and going LPL helps a lot with your shielding. Works like a charm on the W.

Locust thread hijacked? Sry guys.

It's also the only mech and build that I've regularly broken 1,000 damage in, and regularly get 4-6 kills in.

Annihilates mediums and lights with just one click, no ghost heat. And if there's any open components on heavier mechs, it'll rip them off faster than Robocop loses an arm.

4x10 or 6x5 works out more effective.

You are talking to the guy who was playing Locusts back when quirks weren't around and people reported you for running them. Optimal is not what I like. Flashy, and cooky though, that's my jam, XD.

anyway i bought my self kodiaks [for that kdk3 dakka] at the begining of the event.
crawled trough skills and mastered one.
[that way i added 300 tons of dead weight to my mechbays. it will fit next to the 400 tons of dead weight of my Atlai collection...]
Got bored of it before i even finished.
Looked around and found locusts rusting near the dumpster. mechs that i bought [while drunk] about a year ago, and said what the hell. lets annoy people!
and i love it. I LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT!
for the first time in 2 years or so, i feel happy playing this game again. [unless i get heatshoted with gauss while running 162kph...]
i run 1V with erll and machineguns. [i like lpl but without mguns its just not the same] erll for tickling and mguns for striking terror in the hearts of my enemies!
i do 100 to 400 dmg in games and i dont care! im having a blast.
i stopped playing lights after firestarters came out and made my jenner obsolete. then i was thinking bout arctic cheaters but decided to stay IS and got the thing i hated. ember. worst purchase ever.
but locust... maybe i will stop loving it when i eventually get to t1 and people will be finaly shooting straight, but for now? its pure pleasure for me.

I am very glad to hear that. It's always nice to find something that reignites your fun boosters in a game.
Also, I just saw this post in The Daily Whine thread

Yep, that would be me. Hunting locusts with dual ERPPCs in a Kit Fox is about as rewarding as piloting the damned things. It really makes you happy when you nail the things at 800m+ for a crossmap oneshot by ST destruction.
On the other hand, occasionally...you get those times when you fire off four clean double hits, and you hit everything but the part you need >.>

like when you run to a place you think you could climb and the netcode goes "we would like you to stay here for few seconds until we figure out if you can or can't make it" ?

This was the best I could quickly pump out... I would love to hear is anyone else runs this (or anything like it) and how the heat effects the play.

While LCTs have good enough mobility to make sure your LRMs hit your target regardless of cover, the main problem is twofold.
IS LRM launchers are kinda heavy, even compared to SRMs. This, combined with Locusts' low tonnage, make it a real challenge to pack enough ammo. Then comes the problem of maintaining a lock. On a Kit Fox, I can reliably carry a NARC with at least one ton of ammo to make sure that I don't lose lock because of a pole or something.
Then comes the other issue of AMS being able to chew through any LRMs that you are able to throw out. With the biggest realistic LRM launcher on a LCT being a LRM5, a single AMS without overload will completely cancel out one of them - both with overload. If you carry two LRM5, that's half your firepower or all of your firepower gone down the drain.
