That would actually be a nice idea. You could scale the rewards for kills and such up based on weight differential. Locust takes out an Atlas? Get a bonus

Would self-regulate the assault/heavy overload.... It would have to be a fine balancing act between running assault/heavy versus c-bill bonus...

Too much and we'll have nothing but lights and mediums and too little there's not enough incentification.

Well I think it would actually give the min/max crowd a want to run less than assaults if they could earn more rewards by running lighter mechs which would instantly change the meta in general

I'd rather see it as a team bonus instead of a straight "X beats Y" approach. Lights are there to outmove and pick apart assaults, after all- now if the team is 125% of yours in total weight? Go ahead, give everyone on the weaker side a bonus to make up for it for whatever they're doing. But don't penalize the other guys.

This just in, 4-man ultra-light or ultra-heavy lances cause the matchmaker to fail to the lowest common denominator, aka, you stacked the deck when you launched 4-lights. You can tell quite easily Bravo lance on the other side are the only ones with a modicum of skill and what you and the other likely-2 premade groups on your side did, is as deplorable as Joseph's favorite DDC-heavy drops.

Don't get me wrong, it looks neat, but it doesn't make dropping ultra-heavy or ultra-light any less cheap. ...but hey, society always provides crutches for those who need it.

Thats all I call what we have been doing to date. We are not playing Mechwarrior Online we are just preparing for the day when i actually launches!

In the 14-16 months I have been here, Murphy's Law has not reclaimed a single planet from the Clans. We have not Captured a single Clan Mech we have not lost Ground to a Clan Wolf Trinary or Cluster. I have YET to play MW:O! B)

I think that is a good idea right there. I'd be way less put out if I know I'll get more the for the fight I can put up. Right now a 4 DD-C lance of semi intelligent people can faceroll nigh on anything.
At least if you do come across derp lances like that, you'll get rewarded properly for making it harder for them.

Pretty much. How do you do 15 damage in a Highlander? Doesn't even matter which variant. Or a Victor or a Boars Head? I understand that each lance was a coordinated 4 man group focus firing on targets but I can at least get 100 damage hitting all the fast moving targets around me before I go down in big mechs like that. If I were in a medium or heavy I might drop faster with all those lasers hitting me. Maybe they are had regular PPCs and couldn't do any damage.

This is actually a perfect example of why the matchmaker is so fubar. If the majority of your lights had been spiders or ravens or locusts you would have lost. The jenner is the only light with firepower equivalent to something between a medium and a light mech..with armor almost equivalent to a medium and retaining the speed and size of a light.

Last night I had a match that was FUBAR beyond belief in the MM.

Enemy team had SIX ECM atlas. The other six were 5 heavy mechs and 1 light. My team was 10 mediums and my heavy mech. None of us had ECM. The opposing team's ECM atlai were 3 in a premade exploiting the ecm and matchmaker fail mechanics and the other 3 were not premade.

Yet somehow the idiotic MM decided to put three non-premade ECM atlas into the team that already had 3 instead of putting them on my team. Our team had a lot of mediums and their had none... yet the MM did not put mediums into their team.

That is where the tonnage and fair match failure of the MM comes into light.

You get ambushed by the fast mechs from behind! 4-5 run past you and eat your back armor and structure like candy.

Sky I hate to say it but that fault is ours, for thinking that every match needs to fair an balanced.

A PUG group can blob just fine. It's getting them to stick to one target when multiple ones are firing at them that tend to make PUG packs scatter like quicksilver. Many accidental stompings in a PUG vs PUG game come when one group is timid enough that they basically feed one 'Mech at a time into the wood chipper, and each death makes the next guy come in even slower (and gets shot down faster). CLG follows in a hurry.

The big key word you just used is "CAN" sure they "CAN" however that is like saying a pug driven team is all on the same page and does what they are suggested to. --

In my pugs.. I have one guy on his own going the op direction, I have another trying to go up a wall for 60 seconds that he cannot. I also have that one guy that starts off by shooting some of us taking us down 5% with some stupid laser test or something he miss clicked also then causing some people to open up on him thus taking more time.

You know.. the same stuff that happens in Premade groups all the time...

Yeah...

That's actually a perfect example of how the ELO MM works well. heavier weight with lower skilled pilots couldn't overcome higher skill levels even with better firepower

It also looks like a successful 3x4man sync drop, the legends most be true  11 Jenners with 8 of them being JR7-F...if that Cicada had been a Jenner would the game have imploded? Or maybe all the Jenners would have combined into one super Jenner that weighs 420 tons and does 1800kph, and has 6 medium lasers that do do 60 damage each at 3240m.

I don't have much on topic to say, but I just wanted to point out something funny I noticed. You know you've been playing too many online games when this title:

835T Vs 470T - Drop Balance is Working Great

reads as

BEST Vs ALOT - Drop Balance is Working Great

Which is weird, because dropping one or two high elo players with a bunch of low elo players was actually an issue for a while! Not so much anymore, though. Anyway, just thought I'd share. Struck me as funny in both the HA-HA and strange ways.

Last day or so? Fun watching 12-0's where one side gets 6+ assaults vs. a motley crew of a heavy or two, some mediums, and a random light or two. I'm seeing fully armored mediums go 100% -> dead before their weapons can cycle once from sheer mass of fire. Sometimes I'm on the 12-0 side, sometimes the 0-12.

What a pathetic, sad excuse for a matchmaker this has become.
