We all know that MWO will use Cry engine 3, so you can download cryengine 3 free SDK here (free for non-commercial use) and test your PC configuration. I'm sure that's not the same engine that developers use, but it should be close enough.
When you download the 1 GB large zip file, you don't need to install it, just unpack it on your hard disk and browse to Bin32 (or Bin64 depending on your OS) folder and run Launcher.exe file, which is some kind of demo game made in CryEngine 3 with FPS counter included.

On my low end configuration I got 20fps, but demo is with all high end graphic settings (FSAA, High-Res textures, Hi LoD, Water simulation, reflections, etc) so I'm sure I can get more fps when graphics details are set on lower settings.

Cheers!

I know. But what about people with PC configurations bordering on those specs?
And also, I would always prefer checking 'demo version' to comparing specs on the paper.

My PC is getting 5fps. Not playable. Will look into getting a quad or hexacore amd system in the next month. No wmy MWO will cost upwards of 600 dollars. Hear that devs? Make it a good game or i'll send nukes to Terra, Comstar will suffer.

No tips will get it from 5fps to playable. Win xp sp 3 32bit Core 2 duo 6320 at 1.8ish ghz and 4 gigs of memory apparently isn't enough. A definite barrier to entry.

Ouch... ouch... ouch, that's just painful to read bro ;)

Also, if you have more than 3 gb of ram you should get a 64 bit OS otherwise the excess is wasted. 32bit XP only supports 3gb ram max.

That I understand. I've built literally thirty five thousand systems and I left that job five years ago.

I am in the process of ordering my new system, the essentials of which is an ivy bridge i7 quad core, nVidia GTX570 GPU, 8 gig of RAM...

It'll run it without even breaking a sweat, it runs Crysis 2 on Ultra at a huge frame rate...

What do you think about this four core system with the optional 6450 hd radeon?

http://configure.us....en&s=dhs&cs=19

570 and change. That way i dont have to build anything (no time as i'm caring for my three kids during the day) and it'll come with an OS.

I'm pleasantly optimistic to be perfectly honest.

I played, and beat Crysis 1 on a Laptop with outright failing cooling built in 2008.

One of Toshiba's Qosmio line of premium laptops, 2ghz duo core, 4gb DDR3 1066mhz Ram and a Geforce 9700m GTS 512mb.

Only time Crysis 1 gave me trouble was during the damn snow stage and the final mothership fight on the air craft carrier.

If Crysis 3 is superior in optimization then it's grandfather engine. I'll be enjoying tolerable FPS.

TLDR; No monies for upgrade, gonna hope my clunker can run it!

It will run MWO on medium I guess, and it's cheap and convenient but this is a really low-end system, especially the processor.

I might have to build one myself then. Argh, not looking forward to that.

You know, while I think the quoted person above could have asked the question a bit more clearly he does have a point. What was the criteria used in order to establish the following:

- What resolution they consider "minimum" that is supported? 800x600, 1024x768? Other?

- What detail settings did they use?

Oddly enough, having some experience with this, when I was doing this professionally I'd use the following criteria:

Resolution (minimum): 800x600 or 1024x768 depending upon the game
Resolution (recommended): 1280x720 since this was the resolution most console titles were targeted for

Details (minimum): Low, no AA, Anisotropic Filtering disabled
Details (recommended): High, 2x AA, Anisotropic Filtering enabled

This tended to satisfy both those who actually bought the game as well as the marketing folks who always ask "Can they be lower? We wanna catch...." while wondering how accommodating they would be if they bought said game and had to run at the same specs.

Not sure if this will help the conversation but wished to toss my c-bills into the pot. ;)

Well the minimum resolution of the crytek 3 engine sdk single player was 1024x768 so maybe thats their absolute minimum.
