Greetings all,

Ref the "Glass":

Having worked in many real armoured vehicles and had to use many optics that had similar glassed views, I'd say it is reasonably close to what the material should be displaying. The temperature changes effecting the "fogging" should only be evident for a very short time as the real "armoured Glass" would normally have heated elements embedded to off set/remove that effect. [on/off switch]

The scratch's and defects are true to life for a combat vehicle, [this is not your week-end drive vehicle] and would only be replaced if there are cracks or chips that effect the use or stability of the material. [environmental protection trumps all if the seal could be breached]

The effect of the outside terrain moving past the "Glass" is more evident now, and does give the pilot a better sense of movement.

- Bryan tweeted that the toggle for the "Glass" will only be available in Private match's. -
We're looking into a toggle for the cockpit glass for video creators. Also, we plan to allow more camera controls with private matches.

Just some observations,
9erRed

It's subtle in some areas but not as much in others. It's very noticeable in Canyon Network for example.

It seems to depend on the amount of sun light shining through the glass. In full force the glass effect is then too much.
I noticed it most when the sun was behind me.

I used to get bloody good frame rates when I last played (Last feb) come back to this pos with fps in the 30's despite having a better system now. Not sure if it is due to glass, but wouldnt be surprised as other cry engine games run fine.

After seeing this will probably be another year before I look in on MWO again and War thunder get's another £400-500 revenue that you missed out on last year.

update your video card drivers any time in that past year? If anything they have optimized the fps factors more. I get better frames with the same system as I had a year ago in most maps, some are about the same.

Zombies ate it...but it is still coming.
I'm pretty sure it's frickin' setting for the Crysis engine is it not? Just HOW LONG does it take to get it in?

We keep seeing "...next patch is a big one...", every two weeks, but seriously, there really hasn't been anything significant added

Niko it is frustrating to be on the receiving end of this {Scrap}.

When will PGI start ACTUALLY making promised dates? Have they EVER delivered on a feature on time?

I'm having hard time thinking of anything that wasn't/isn't late...

OK, just tried Advanced Zoom... yuk. Can't see a thing.

Definitely shouldn't be optional in the main game!

Would still like it toned down a bit though.

I was just about to post this. The effect is definitely more pronounced when the light source is behind you, which is actually the opposite of the way it should be. This can be reproduced on all maps, but I found it most obvious on Tourmaline.

Something to look into, perhaps?

Also, the effect should be reduced when using any zoom (advanced or otherwise) as you're focusing well beyond the glass.

Just played some more, really annoying. Praying for a hot fix. Please do not believe my immersion is improved by decreased game enjoyment. Was this a thing people asked for ? I could just have spent LESS money on my card for crappy graphic. As to all the "just deal with it" people out there. You already are disabling many of the effects that imped vision, I understand if you need me to be blind for you to succeed. This is not a "I hate PGI " rant, I have mostly enjoyed the game... This effect is a MAJOR downer, and since it only negatively affects a percentage of gamers, it is in effect targeting them. The real answer for me is simple, I'm going to go do something else now. If you want people to stay, spend time developing things people want.

You all whine to much! Seriously the glass is one of the best things added! I like the effect it's just right and not to strong. They only should remove it for videos not play, and that option should only be available in spectate mode.

Forest Colony map, as well as Terra Therma, in my case anyways, are already very difficult to see anything. With this new cockpit glass, I can barely see anything at all now.

On other maps though, it works great, like Canyon and Crimson Strait. Played HPG and barely noticed the glass unless I was looking straight up into space.

Personally, would love the option to turn this off on some maps, but keep it on others. Catch 22 in my case I suppose.

What I can't find, and I've searched, is a single post where someone states:

"You know what this game REALLY NEEDS is? Cockpit glass! THAT would make a world of difference..."

Nothing even remotely resembling that, so I'm kind of annoyed.

Again, all they've done is add ONE MORE THING that obscures the view.

Crimany if this is the direction you're going just make every f'ing map like River City Night, then you won't have to invest valuable time in such questionable directions...

Seriously, this is extremely disorienting and annoying.

Try walking in a Jagermech, zoomed in focused in the distance for fire support. The huge green smudges and scratches zoom as well, becoming much larger in your view, and bounce up and down. I really struggle to focus past it.

Please, please get me a toggle fast. Please.

I like the concept of the glass effects, and around the edges of the view would be fine, but seriously it's like another (much worse) film grain. It's awful

It's just awful and not "realistic" or "atmospheric" I wouldn't have a car with that dirty a window ever. I don't need something that makes my decent monitor and graphics card look like a ****** monitor and graphics card.

So option to turn off would be nice but you'd be better scraping it or make it a feature you could turn on if wanted as it's not going to make new players love the game more.

I don't suppose you take your car for a spin in the desert, the beach, the moon, dusty abandoned old villages or to warzones very often, then? Stuff gets dirty.

My only comment at this time is that it would help a lot to know the settings and maybe even monitor size/resolution of people posting feedback.

I've seen tons of screenshots and thought "this person and I are not playing the same game" due to various factors. And it's possible the effect is very different in appeal at different settings.

Maybe the people posting it's amazing could post some screenies of what they get, and the people who hate it could post of the all green screen?

Wouldn't surprise me if it was bad on certain systems, and not others. Every other graphics related item in this game follows that pattern.

Love the effect, would immediately fire/shoot any tech who would leave my cockpit that dirty. I see the need for a texture, but it should not obscure view to this extent. Especially with the silly fog effects already messing with MWO visuals, this is too much.

I don't think, it's dirt on the glass. I think it is damaged glass, like scratches. Or "glass which has already seen several battles". "Battle-hardened"...

please remove cockpit glass, it's very pretty and really adds a layer of bluish/white-ish-ness over everything. but immersion is does not add. In fact it detracts.

I feel like my mechs has developed cataracts and I now need surgery.

This REALLY makes the game unplayable for me on some maps.

PGI also announced many weeks ago that Feb. 4 was the big patch and all Jan.patches would be small.
To be fair, keeping up with all mwo news is tricky, and there's a lot of misinformation out there where people repeat something they misread.

It's gotten better, but really easy to miss a lot of news.

Please take the people who worked on this feature and reallocate their time to community warfare, thanks!
