"Wait they dont like their vision blocked in any way?" "Lets put in black out next patch, they will like that im sure"
"Wait, how come we cant grasp the simple fact they dont want their vision blocked or silly things added for no reason cept we cant get CW off of paper and need to look like we are doing something"

all this complaining over somthing so very minor, THIS is the reason there hasn;t been a mechwarrior game in over tens years, developers don't want to put up with this {Scrap}, heck even over at the narc thread ppl are bashing the devs for "going in the right direction but its NOT ENOUGH!!!" and its not everyone i know, but my god the ones that don;t like something are like that kid at the store who wont...stop...crying, and the moms trying to figure out whats wrong and he just cries louder, sigh......

I think it is fine.
Someone will probably just turn the Gamma down anyway to shoot across the map like they do now, which will reduce the effect of the mildew/mold/frozen glass. So does it really matter?

Yes. Because many of us don't exploit, and we don't appreciate the devs creating new ways for cheaters to exploit us.

It's called ''feedback''. Most companies appreciate receiving it, because it helps them satisfy and retain their customers.

No, the reason there hasn't been a MechWarrior game in over tens years is that MS owns the IP, they have been focused on creating profitable games for their Xbox platform, and Mechwarrior hasn't fitted their economic model. MW isn't a ''skin an existing engine within an existing genre'' proposition, nor can its graphic model diversity fit easily within the hardware limitations of an Xbox console. In short, the projected return on investment of creating a Mechwarrior title - projected sales less cost of development - has been a much poorer business case for them than just churning out another FPSer or Racing Game or Sport Sim V12.

It has nothing to do with whining players.

So stop making **** up.

this is how it should look like honestly..

but of course..here we are putting two things against each other ..immersion/realism vs game readability ..and honestly..I am all for immersion..

so you are saying when your back is to the light, and that light shines through the back of your mech, this is how it should look? Immersion is the complete opposite of real world?

and when you are inside underneath tons of metal, the light should still shine through your back?

1.) Pretty sure it's dust, not ice. (Bye-bye "Realism" "even my car can defrost it's windows" arguments)

2.) I had to LOOK for it the first few matches I played it is so under-whelming.

3.) Seriously...I don't know, try actually playing the game instead of bitching on the forums.

Actually if the glass progressively got dirty AN had a means to clean it... that would kinda make sense. But having PoS visibility... Man I am old and getting blind! :D

depends on map and what direction you are...some maps are very bad when the light it on your back (apparently there is a rear window in our mechs now...but one-way because you can not look behind you)

I played every map except Alpine I believe yesterday and never found it to even remotely affect my gameplay, then again maybe I simply didn't notice from the obscene amount of motion blur I suffer from when my mech gets hit with a small pebble (even with motion blur turned off)...

Yet another example of the poor decision making at pgi hq. Will they ever learn?

Increased immersion? Give us a break...*sigh*

the sky dancing on Manifold is highly distracting when you are trying to line up a shot on a 1/4"-1/3" tall target!

Well, I saw this effect only during two matches of later UI2.0 test, but I totally loved it. I'll give MWO another try on Feb 4th, so I may change my opinion, but so far empty frames of cockpit irritated me much more than dusty windshield of a Mech (some of Mechs are supposed to be centuries old, so what did you want?) Windscreen wipers monetization idea is great fun actually, thanks for lulz.

So yeah it's not a huge deal but not something I think they should be working on. We dont need anymore hero mechs or cheap rip off sales until we have proof cw is being worked on and progress is going like it should have a year ago. Just my 2 cents...

Oh and why doesn't the windshield have some sorta wiper? That would be a safety issue would it not?

I don't mind the glass, but I'm losing 6-10 fps even with everything set to "Low" or turned off on a low-spec machine.

Can the glass be disabled for "low" settings?

I would like to see it the glass start clean and get progressively dirtier throughout the match.

Although I have not noticed the windshield being an issue, I think PGI is going to dial back the effect after the huge kickback in the forums. That's fine too.

It is quite distracting on Manifold when marching to combat and the sky jiggles unrealistically with every step, Ant I do not appreciate losing/missing a enemy mech 1/3" tall cause my glass is a PoS I'd have replaced in transit! :D

Limited visibility in a sim game? How horrifying.

If we wanted massive FoV with no obstructed screen, go play a game not trying to emulate a sim. As it stands, you're stuck with awful third person or trying to squint through your cockpit's limited visibility.

I love it.
