If it's a feature allow me to disable it. If it's a core component of the game , then see ya later hope your game crashes and burns.

I'm sick of their {scrap} They give us garbage we don't ask for promise core components that NEVER show up make the game graphics require higher and higher end machines. They ignore feedback from thousands of their players and expect us to like it.

HEY PGI look at my play time since you put this in.

(For the rest of you it's less than an hour, from someone who played 2-3 hours a night and at least 10-15 on the weekends.)

I expect them to make adjustments to it but at current I can't play without getting a major headache, I like the game but not that much. Looks like War Thunder get's all my time now, and my MONEY!

the kind of toggle you are asking for will put some at a more advantageous position, so... Either have it all on, all off...or toggle for private matches(maybe no toggle, maybe team vote yes or no)

How does a toggle giving a more advantageous position matter in this game? I can already toggle to 3rd person view, and I will have the advantage of no cockpit glass, plus I can peek around walls too.

Ok, so I don't normally bother posting about patch issues unless things are really broken or easy fixes but the new "glass feature" is something else. The last few days I've had to stop playing MWO after the onset of a headache. I mentioned this to someone I work with today and they had a similar experience where they felt nauseated on Wednesday evening. My co-worker suggested it might have something to do with the new "glass feature" that went in with the patch Tuesday morning. At the time I was just me and unaware of this thread.

I heard rumors a simple on/off feature toggle is in the works and I would ___HOPE___ PGI could slip this into the Friday sale patch for us. Seems like a simple enough piece of code to implement before someone start a class auction lawsuit or cites the Americans with Disabilities act.

Have to agree with all the complaints above and I didn't even need to play long to feel discomfort in my eyes.
High FOV in a very open mech (spider for example) makes it very bad, especially when moving 170 kph and jetting around.
I would rather see the mech feet to slope adaption animations back, would bring way more immersion. This does nothing to immersion for me. Glass does not glare in fighter planes like that (Ive been in a cockpit of one) and I am sure in the distant imagined future they would have polarized glass or some other material that would have built in filters for any kind of light emission. I mean - we can see laser beams that is impossible to see with naked eye...
I want an option to remove windows, I don't even care if I lose all cockpit armor in return ;)

I cant play with cockpit glass, makes me nauseous, Kinda like the effect I get when trying to read a book in a car. It's all that bobbing motion of the scratches/dirt and effect in my peripheral vision that causes it. Not that I was playing the game much lately I definitely can't play the game in its current state tried a few times just to make sure I wasn't having a bad moment at that time, but nope its consistently hurl & headache time after a few mins of playing.

Hope it becomes an option Real freaking soon. but I doubt it, I'm on an Island.

Ok, I never really noticed it all that much until tonight.

Today I was on River City and in the tunnel below the dropship. For reasons I cant understand, I got about 50-60% of my window obscured. It has to be a bug.

So, I've gone from indifference(personally) but feeling pity for those physically effected, to, well, hatred.

PGI, add me to the list of people that find your new "feature" to be ****. Your feature is making some sick, buggy, causing some people massive framerate slow down all in exchange for, um... what exactly?

I am 54 years old
And like most people my eyesight is not what it used to
I have accepted the fact that I have to wear glasses to read and play this game

However since the last patch I get eye strain and a headache from playing this game

To the ones that say go to a doctor:
I get yearly eye exams and I am told this is normal at my age

To the ones that ask how I can drive a car:
I still have great eyesight at long distances. I can easily focus through a windshield at an object 20 feet away and rid myself of any spots on the glass. However focusing on a computer screen approximately 20 inches in front of me does not allow my eyes to focus past the annoying cockpit glass

I play mechwarrior games. I have played basically nothing else since MPBT:Solaris.
To expect me to go anywhere else or play anything else is way beyond rude

All I ask is that PGI realizes this new feature is causing me to have eye strain and headaches
ie: physical discomfort

a toggle feature is a simple way to solve this for both sides

A big NO to the option to turn cockpit glass on/off!
That's kind of legal cheating. Why should someone turn it on, if he would get a disatvantage? That'd be stupid!
You'll all get used to it. Maybe they change the look or the intensity.

Some people really like to be a cattle, no offense.
I don't understand the logic of coming to play a game for enjoyment and being forced to get used to features that negatively affect you in real life. People always have an option to stop playing if annoyances outweight enjoyment. However, who will lose in the end if many people would leave due to non core gameplay mechanic's features being forced?...

+1
Im not playing the game for 3 days now (actually I played 1 drop yesterday, but it felt disgusting and i dropped). I spent a lot of time and money on this game (have 100 mechs including all heroes, most of them are master) until this patch. This **** ruins everything. Game is not enjoyable anymore. I have to peer thru all this ****, mud, dirt, mold, cinema grain effect etc to actually see something. My eyes feel the ******* PAIN in 5 minutes of gameplay. The ****? Right now I tend to drop playing the entire game if they will not remove this. It is sad.

I have never been able to "get used" to feeling nauseous when trying to read a book whilst in a moving car. So no I can't just "get used to it" with the similar effect cockpit glass gives me.

legal cheating? no its not, because EVERYBODY has the same options. Now People who change their FOV in the config files, that could be considered legal cheating to a small degree, as that's not a readily available option through the menus.

And that's the part that makes the whole "(only) cockpit glass is making me ill" agrument questionable to me.
Because, in case you hadn't noticed, the complete cockpit (also in your peripheral viewing area) is moving, and
because it's massive, far more noticalbe than semi-transparent scratches, that are mostly noticable in the corners
of the windscreen.

And to those who say "Toggle is the only option", please do what you already demand of others and look beyond your own noses.
Toggle is NOT the ONLY option. Tweaks / options that could be possible without interfering too much with immersion and/or balance (in my opinion):

- Overall reduction of the effect, i.e. make it more transparent
- make the glass less reflective to reduce the amount of highlights on the windscreen
- keep the center of the windscreen around the crosshair area cleaner
- slider option to reduce the cockpit movement ("head bob") as a whole from 30% to 100%

Shrug, You can question it as much as you want, that is your right. Doesn't change the fact of how it makes me feel, and how I cannot play the game.

I have played this game for a good 3 hours each night sinced close beta fine, Now cockpit glass has been added and I cannot play the game. Hmm must be me hey.

The difference with the rest of the cockpit contros as you pointed out is I am not focusing on that as much, whereas through the cockpit I am staring more intently even with peripheral to try and spot enemies, combined with the fact the cockpit is "static" and not transparent, whereas the transparent scratches etc, have motion going on as i torso twist and move "behind" the scratch if that makes sense, compounding the effect drawing attention.

I actually do feel nauseous playing the locust even pre Cockpit glass, hence why I dont play taht, the reason for that is I'm guessing is because of the "tighter" cockpit more of it is bobbing around for me and more is in field of view, only mech I have had that issue with pre cockpit glass.

I just want to chime in here and mention...

...the last time I played this game was during the so-called "launch." I was disappointed PGI spent their time developing features nobody asked for instead of developing the promised game. It seems as if now they've implemented glass cockpits. Have they given us clan warfare yet?

Nothing has changed in months!

Bye (again). I'll be back if anything changes with this silly development cycle.

Ah yes.. another feature nobody asked for, nobody seems to want/like and which doesn't add anything to the game.

3rd person
Ready-button
Cockpit glass

.. I wonder what sort of cool new feature PGI are working on at the moment. I'm sure it'll be magic!

All kidding aside: What's the point of this thing? It makes the game look worse since it's completely overdone - like sitting inside a badly maintained 60+ year old WW2-fighter whose plexiglass has degraded badly. It's distracting, makes long range gunnery a lot harder on certain maps (Forrest Colony comes to mind) and, most importantly, it doesn't *add* anything to immersion. In fact, it actually takes away from any sort of "illusion" IMO, since it constantly draws attention to itself.

The fact that it seems to cause a lot of people headaches/nausea should be the final nail in the coffin, but, yeah: Those guys probably all are cry-babies and "just need to get used to it". ;)

And on a side note: Why are we still seeing this {Scrap} with advanced zoom? I was under the impression that was a feature provided by some sort of HUD inside my neurohelmet. Or is the neurohelmet's visor scratched and degraded as well?

lol all the crying is making me have a headache, this is by far the most negative forum I have ever seen. Just give them the on/off switch. I can play the game just fine with the glass on, and I don't feel that it would put me in a disadvantageous position if other don't use it. Good job on the glass btw, it may not be perfect but its the right direction. For me it made it feel alot more like the player being inside a mech, and not like the player is the mech.

edit* font size got all messed up...

There can't be a toggle. Because the percentage of people disliking the glass that are just veiled "I cannot shoot as good as before" whiners are going to take advantage of it to satisfy their stupid "I want to win no matter what" mentality. These are the same people that play any online game with all graphical options set to "Low" even if they have ******** GPU power in their PCs in order to cheat their way out of graphical immersion 'obstacles'.

That's just the thing though. It doesn't hinder your ability to shoot at mechs AT ALL.

Theres also a large variance between mechs of course too. This isn't supposed to be an aiming hindrance like JJ shake, this is purely cosmetic to make the game look better.

It has about as much effect on combat as the miniature models on your dashboard.

Goddamit PGI, why don't you listen to your players? Maybe you should play mechwarrior as long as your players play it, AND MAYBE THEN you'll get sense of what is usefull, what is useless, where you must change something to reduce amount of clicks or moves. Because, I'll repeat, it is WE, who PLAY MW:O. Take a look at other MMO projects. World Of Tanks is getting better, and MWO is not, War Thunder is getting better, and WMO is not, WoW, LoL, DotA(MWO is my one and only MMO game), many of my friends are playing those games and they don't feel so ******** mad about their gameplay like MW:O players do.

I played only 2 battles with new cockpit glass and I DO NOT WANT play MWO anymore, guess why. Sure, I'll take a part in the last season of RHoD because my team needs me(probably, I'm not quite sure), but I don't whant to play the game, which is getting worse because of sh***y management.

Just take a look how a cockpit glass should look like: http://youtu.be/vs-iHpom6UQ?t=2m
