I feel all weapons should have a maximum amount of damage they can take throughout its life before it is permanently destroyed and then has to be replaced. I feel this will help make players more cautious in battle. For instance if a Gauss rifle is destroyed in 30 games it can no longer be repaired and has to be replaced.

yeah, sounds great. now instead of playing 100 hours for a mech, you can play an extra 10 hours for that LBX10 you busted up.

thanks but with the current game situation it really isn't that beneficial to anyone.

maybe we'll eventually get some form of Repair & Rearm with community warfare, but we already saw before that in general PUG play R&R was a bad idea.

Sure, as long as you agree to pay for all of my replacement weapons.

First, those hours are a bit of an exaggeration. It shouldn't take more than a few matches to earn enough to cover the cost of any weapon currently. Secondly, Cbill earnings per match can be raised to cover the average loss attributed to weapon failure. And good pilots who rarely take too much damage to their internals would actually come out ahead.

As for the OP: It all comes down to convenience. You could add a new feature that adds a small amount of strategy to the game, but in exchange you have one more thing to check before entering battle. As it stands, there's no lack of strategy in the game as is, and many new players feel the mech lab is too complicated even without the additional mechanics. Plus there would be plenty of times that your ac20 calls it quits, but you forgot to rearm before a match. The first time it happens to the average player, they'll scream bloody murder and demand a rollback.

If there were ever a 'hardcore' mode (and there likely never will be) it would be a great place for this kind of thing. For the standard game, though, I say no.

Rand R wasn't a joke. It stopped people from LRM boating and running DDC's every match. Mechs are an expensive upkeep and it would make players think twice before always running that Assault Mech.

Exactly this.
Not only would R&R help reduce the amount of Assualt Mechs on the field (they're expensive to upkeep and re-arm!), it would actually force people to be more cautious in battle.

Right now there are way too many people playing the game like suicidal maniacs - it doesn't matter if you over extend yourself while chasing a kill, it's not as if losing your Mech has consequences. Just run straight up to all of your targets and face-hug them until one of you blows up.

Really, really hoping that PGI brings back Repair and Rearm!

No, it would reduce the amount of 100% functional assault mechs, people would just Zombie them then which is even worse.

Tonnage limits are coming, that will help reduce the amount of assault mechs just fine.

I think the reason you say R&R was a bad idea in PUG drops was because of the way it was implemented. I would suggest R&R should five incentives for faction players fielding faction mechs. Ex If you are playing Kurita faction or have a contract with Kurita if you are a merc. Mechs like the Dragon and Jenner should be 75% cheaper to repair and rearm than non Kurita mechs. In fact this could be used in CW. In addition to mechs each faction should have specific tech that their players get bonuses for. For example Marik could have worlds that produce Ballistic weapons. Any faction that controls one of those worlds will be able to R&R ballistics cheaper than factions that do not. Control of certain worlds should also give a performance buff to particular tech.

We had it, it was called repair and rearm, too many felt it cut into their earnings so they did away with it. I'd go for R&R being implemented again.
