I just got out of a match where my mech was literally the ONLY one with a custom paint scheme. I feel they really should be making paints and patterns cheaper / a better value than they are currently. If only so it gives us some more (and I feel much needed) visual variety on the battlefield.

Barring a blanket discount on the paint, perhaps offering them in packs (I.e. the camo pattern, plus three colors for a net discount) so you could set up theme packs.

Theme packs are a good idea.

A better game and you'll see people with more paint.

disagree, I don't think there is a major correlation to higher quality of gameplay to purchasing paint schemes. While it may entice some people to buy into the game, paint is purely cosmetic. If a person enjoyed gameplay, the most likely outcome is purchasing mechs, garage slots, or premium.

It's certainly has its flaws, but if anything, getting more crazy paintjobs out in the playerbase will at least help show off the game's nice graphics and mech design.

Personally I disagree with the very notion of "premium" colors and camo specs only purchasable via MC. They should be available for c-bills too. Or perhaps each month they make a limited selection purchasable for c-bills.

Unlocking Camo should be permanent for all chassis once bought. Make it cost like 1000 C-bills..

paint prices should be a bit cheaper and have different mechanics

the painting mechanic is {Scrap} compared to games like Teamfortress 2 where I can repaint an item for less then 2 bucks and use it on nearly ANYTHING I wanted.

but here it feels like I'm locked inside some Gamer-Claustrophobia.

I've only gotten 3 paints and 1 scheme thanks to PC-Gamer Magazine (Red Black and White, which were changed from a vibrant temper to a muddled appearance because PGI thought that the colors were "too good").

so yeah, cheaper prices and universal application would be nice.

IIRC you can buy some basic paints for c-bills, so it is for free. Therefore I think they will not change the prizes.
But I would not mind if they supply a full MC-bill refund and lower the prizes, so I get moar color and patterns out of my money!

Btw, if you like painting mechs you may want to support my thread with a tiny post:

Cheers and gl!

The 4 cbill colors are okay but 1.25 million cbills is expensive for new players. Especially since none of the colors go particularly well with olive. Saving for a second mech or investing 1.25 million cbills so you can be dark rust instead of olive?

A better idea yet would be to offer those colors for free! why? because why not! it would offer immediate diversity to the battlefield.

Give them away free for completing a this is how you play tutorial with a satisfactory score. then give away a batch of consumables in a this is how you move and shoot tutorial. Finally give away a centurion AH stock, for completing the putting it all together tutorial. Yeah you just gave away 10million cbills worth of stuff but the impact on the new player experience will be great.

First I have colors to express myself. Then I get some consumables to learn how to use them, and potentially choose micro transactions. Third I get a not terrible mech which everyone will have to start with so I can learn to play in something I own.

Plus it'd be a give back to the whole community who went and tested out the tutorials for you.

Seconded for free colors, one for each faction. I'm also thinking, why not assign custom paint jobs to Trial Champion 'Mechs? Doesn't have to be a unique skin or camo, just change the default colors to something more interesting. Could even be a c-bill color, and when you purchase the Champion you get that color unlocked as well.

It would also 'pretty up' the mechs if they had colors matching their faction/House somewhere other than the camo paint.

For example, Steiner could have the gun barrels of their mechs have blue rings or blue components on them.

...and/or maybe have the House/faction logo displayed in the rear CT or in the legs somewhere in bright house matching color.

Personally I don't consider 'painting' my mech to be of any importance and not worth a cent. When I see enemy mechs with bright colorful paint camos I thank them because it makes it SO MUCH EASIER to see and shoot them.

It amazes me how many people feel so much should be free. The game itself is free. You want to look pretty? Drop a few bucks.

Spent money on a few mech bays. Not going to buy paint or patterns or mechs with real cash. Don't care if I make 20k a year or 1 million I wont spend money on this {Scrap} or the idiotic cockpit stuff for current prices. Lower Mechs to these prices - $5.00 for a light, $10.00 for a medium, $15.00 for a heavy and $20.00 for an assault. Drop patterns and paints to a buck a each and see money come in. Prices currently are too high.

Yes. If you take away PGIs cosmetic source of income, they'll have to make it up with a pay to win source of income.

Forgot the entitled players for a minute

No, no they shouldn't. They get a cbill boost. That's what premium is for. It doesn't entitle you to anything more than that.
