That LRM 20 that you insist on using on the 9M gets totally suppressed by a single AMS since it comes out 2 missiles at a time... You also have the potential to go much faster with that mech.

There are a few fun builds throughout the list though.

Laugh if you want at LRM 9m
but it works in pugs and 12 mans well for me

A neat thing about this is when someone see's you spewing out lrm's and pop a shot at you they don't usually expect Twin ppc as return fire ;)
This build also allows for either sniping or LRM'ing if not many AMS is present or both if your not too hot but do note only 15 doubleheatsinks
- the LRM 15 can be dropped to LRM 10 with dropping AMS to add 1 heatsink with extra tonnage but no extra slots
2 PPC - 1 Er large laser - Lrm 25 total - TAG - AMS - BAP
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...9c93e79af92a250

Same weapons as above but slower 8T version - lame 8 Series engine restriction wouldn't let me get the same build speed
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...1f338448f4ca9ed

2 PPC - 2 mediums - 2 LRM 15's - TAG - XL 280 - 62 kph - drop to XL 265 for 1 heatsink
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f85df4a1f1066a6

and me most beloved flamer awesome :D
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3b675b3fad6e442

NON AMS version - xl 370 - 22 doubles -432 armor - 400 srm ammo version
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...5cfe0da2379aa6e

You could always switch the flamers to mediums
but that would be HERESY

awesome is under rated. DOnt have smurfy but in the arms on mine i have in left arm twin er large. in right arm used to be twin erppc now its erppc and ppc. the ppcs are on chain fire to control heat. round it out with a srm 6 and srm 4.
The key to this build is of course taking advantage of the nice range of motion you have with the arms on the awesome.

Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.

I run this build all the time and usually break 400 damage pretty comfortably. Split your shoulders and your arm into separate firing groups and hang back just behind the front lines, pounding everything in front of you with a constant stream of PPC fire. It's terrifying.

The SRM bug has this one hurting a bit right now, but I've leveled every assault mech in this game but Victors and this remains one of my top scoring and most enjoyable mechs to run.

Use your left side during the feeling out phase, playing peekaboo back and blocking shots with your big empty arm. Once the fight dissolves into a brawl, waddle in with your fresh right side and SRM everything to death.

And last, but not least... it's fast, it's heat efficent, it loves popping up where you least expect it, and it's the best zombie in the game bar none. This is the build that got me in to Awesomes, and I love it to this day.

You can alpha for nearly 40 seconds straight before you even need to think about heat. You move like a heavy mech, only you're tougher. You're huge arms block shots all day if you twist well, and you've got the speed to make medium mechs panic.Honey Badger does not give a ****.

I didn't bother to adjust armor values. I just assumed everyone sprinkled those to taste.

My values are 58/10 LR and 88/12 CT.

Any builds on the Pretty Baby? Would like to see a few. Some of those builds sound fun, though hot. :(

I like the look of this, I don't have the 8T yet. Might get it. :( (Edit: I like the look of this because the 8R with LRMs is my only Awesome that seems to get anything done.)

But! You have 14 empty crits. Add endo, switch to 300STD, take off 14 points of armor, and it's both faster and has one extra DHS. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...d71f8756173d5af

At the time I didn't have oodles of money to spend so I kept the upgrades down unless I needed them. By all means go for the STD300 and get the extra speed.

Did I mention I regularly score higher in my Awesomes than any other assault but the Atlas (and by extension, any other mech I play, as assaults are my best class).

For the fella asking about PB builds, here's mine before the developers unwittingly yet utterly killed the one thing the AWS line was good at by increasing the side torso sizes:

XL 380 + 5 DBL Heatsinks
Endosteel internals
1 x ER PPC
1 x Large Laser
1 x Medium Laser
3 x SRM 6 with 2 tons ammo
All remaining slots filled with heatsinks

It was a great build, but the torso adjustment means that losing a side torso is just so damned easy now. It's funny how the developers actually managed to jam the nail in the Awesome's coffin through none other than an attempt to buff it. Sometimes I get the feeling that none of the guys at PGI are terribly good at this game...

I go between a 3 PPC, 2 Large Laser build and a 4 PPC, 1 Medium Pulse Laser build on my AWS-8Q. I also swap between a STD 240 and an XL 300, depending on how durable I feel like being.

I can't just run 4 PPCs alone. The medium pulse laser has saved me on numerous occasions, and helps me get kill assists on light 'mechs that stray close enough to it.

I started firing 3 PPCs at once for shots I'm sure to make in order to inflict as much damage as possible. Sometimes a 20 point alpha firing the PPCs in pairs isn't enough for the kill shot. But despite the extra burst of heat generation, my 18 DHS can handle it and dissipate the heat quick enough, but I need cover in order to sink that heat.

All other shots, I fire my PPCs in pairs.

The 3 PPC 2 Large Laser build is very versatile. The lasers are great for reaching out and touching smaller, faster-moving targets, and for enemy 'mechs that get too close for the PPCs to work. However, the PPCs are the main firepower of the build. I think it's a good bracket firing build.
