I think it will finish Tuesday same time as they patch, at least that's how I remember it working before.

Not every sale is going to be for everyone, some weeks I buy something most weeks I think I don't, but I think it's good they have them.

This time I bought the spider champion, but why?

I don’t have the spider, I think I might want to buy the others some time, and it comes with a really nice engine.

The chassis + upgrades would cost 4M cbills
The engine alone another 4M cbills

Now I've got a pimped light ready to use and an engine I can use in the rest of the chassis variants (and a lot of other mechs 255XL is a nice engine) for around the cost of a weeks premium time (or the cost of 4-5 standard paints on sale), with the amount of playtime I have I don't think I'd see that much in the way of cbills from a weeks premium time. So for me it's a great deal.

ps looking forward to the new light hero / chassis

I bought a PB, against what everyone on the forums recommended, against my own nagging feeling of "will I regret this?"..

and guess what:

It's actually pretty fun :)

Seconding this: I do not own one (YET!) but between my buddy Gwilliy and Koniving's reports of it....

Let's just say I am planning ahead :)

Still don't remember the community being MOCKED, other than one unfortunate comment by Garth in-game.

Well, there was this one time when he used a player's stats (then unknowable to players) as an argument against him on the forums. That was pretty bad.

Then there was the whole "You're on an island" debacle.

And the unfortunate "the Founders/anyone currently playing isn't our target demographic" gaffe in 3PV/1PV.

Not to mention the 3-second Jenner, the 6 MG Spider, and other ridiculously stupid stuff they've managed to put out - but those aren't mocking per se, just insults to ones intelligence.

I put on endo-steel first to free up some tonnage.

As my memory serves (at work right now, workin' hard obviously ! ;) ):

Fitted with a Standard 300 engine. AMS, LRM15, 2 ER Large Lasers, 1 Medium Laser, and 2 SRM 6. Fitted on Artemis as well mainly for those SRMs but is nice to have with LRM as well.

Gotta remember to play it as a support role. Stay with your friends, especially ones who can fight off those pesky lights! I sometimes forget what I'm riding in and try to brawl with it which yields predictable results :)

Whipped this up, seems about right to what I made:

Well that is a somewhat different direction for that mech. :)

Sounds a lot like how I run my Centurion though - so it will probably be fun for me as well. ;)

My usual procedure for buying a new mech is to gut it first and rebuild from scratch ;) I did try the XL for awhile but... I like the enhanced survivability

I usually run them stock at least once before gutting them. :(
Usually being the key word. :)

Ehhh...you're talking to a person who agrees with those opinions, so that won't help your argument there. :) I'd be more interested in hearing greater depth on the heat sinks philosophy, though.

I'm not a designer, but I will say that DHS at 2.0 heat allowed me to core a fully armoured Atlas from behind in roughly 3 seconds. In my Jenner. Keep in mind that the 1.4 times boost isn't just to cooling DOWN, it's a boost to heat THRESHOLD as well.

This was shades of the SL Jenner of F+F beta past, and we reacted to it quickly, because well, we'd already seen what happens.

And remember everyone - we're still open beta, so weapon changes will still occur.

- Garth, in this post.

That was their reason for making external heat sinks 1.4 and not 2.0 as they should be.
