Suggest me a mech please

However...now I've run into a fairly large issue. The first Uziel doesn't show up in the universe until...what was it...14 years I think after the start date of MWO. Unless they plan on doin huge jumps in the timeline really soon, it'll be a very long time before I even get to see an Uziel, let alone pilot one. Bein that I only have experience with the Mechwarrior games I have very little knowledge about mechs outside of the very few that I bothered usin so I figured I'd ask the community here a question.
If the mech I'm most familiar with usin is an Uziel, are there any mechs that will be available durin the current timeline of MWO that I would actually feel comfortable pilotin or am I just outta luck in that regard until it actually shows up in game?

For medium IS 'mechs the Assassin and Clint come to mind as capable of striking at near and distant ranges while moving fast. The Pheonix Hawk is also decent for this, but is currently "unseen" so it may not be an option.
EDIT: Stats
The early Assassin can hit 118 KPH, and carries a medium laser, LRM 5 and SRM 2. Can jump.
The upgraded Assassin can go as fast, and carries a medium pulse laser and LRM 5 w/ Artemis IV. Can jump.
The early Clint can run up to 97.2 KPH, carries an AC/5 and two medium lasers. Can jump.
The upgraded Clint goes as fast, and carries an ERPPC and two medium pulse lasers. can jump.
The early Pheonix Hawk can run up to 97.2 KPH, carries a large laser, two medium lasers and two machine guns. Can jump.
The upgraded Pheonix Hawk runs as fast, carries two ER Large lasers, two medium pulse lasers, an AMS, and an MG.
Can jump.

You might also look at the Trebuchet if you want good dual long range weapons, but it is more like a smaller Catapult without the jump jets but slightly faster. In addition to the tried and true designs others have posted try the Centurion a good all around design with strong weapons in each range bracket.

Edit - If it does make it into the game, the Phoenix Hawk would probably be a go to choice though. I love my energy weapons, heh.

The Vindicator is also a good choice, as well as the Griffin.

The Enforcer is a Solid all rounder, and both its AC and LL have the same range envelope. the Centurion is also Excellent, as it can provide some solid LRM support wile still being a good front line machine (fluff wise it is meant to work in tandem with a Trebuchet).

Its the cheapest mech ever produced. It has decent armor for its size. It has a good gun. And it has jump jets.

ER-PPC and twin Medium Pulsers, moves at 97kp/h and jumps like the Uziel. This is just by the BT canon, Mechwarrior usually amps up mech firepower and armor significantly.

If you want to go heavier and slower, Grasshopper can jump and packs a lot of energy weapons.

If speed is a must look at the Pheonix Hawk (if we are lucky) or Clint, fire power and armor are lighter but they are good scout leaders.

It's one of the old unseen, but it is IIRC a Crusher Joe unseen, so it's legit again and thus likely to be in game.
It's a shade slower than the Uziel (86Km/h vs 97Km/h) but fully jump capable.
It was considered the staple mech of the Lyran Commonwealth, to the point that a pair of Griffins were kept in the Archon's throne room until the Fed Com civil war when they were replaced by Fafnirs.
The most common variant in 3050 was the Marik designed 3M, which had an ERPPC, an LRM/20, and a backup small laser.

Could easily swap the LRM/20 down to a 15 or 10 for some more secondary weapons.

This one trades the AC/2's for large lasers.
Its not stupidly fast but it is jump capable and has paired large and med lasers. (with extra heat sinks)
edit: It even becomes an omni mech in 3058

If you would like my advice, I'm a long-time player of the tabletop, and have been a religious follower of the Mechwarrior series since I first tried Mechwarrior 2 as an eight-year-old child. When it comes to 'mechs, I have many memorized by heart.
First of all, considering when this game will be set, to get a nice idea of what kinds of 'mechs you will find in this game, I suggest you take a look at Battletech Techical Readout 3039, or the articles as listed on Sarna.net

As for a 'mech sufficient to your tastes, I'm going to point a few of the following things out
In this era of play, finding 'mechs that move faster than 64 kPh is actually rather rare, as the engine weight used up by such designs ends up handicapping it in every other regard. This means that many Mediums are just as slow as the heavies, and sometimes, the assaults.
If you like a good scoot-n-shooter, I would recommend the Vindicator. One PPC, backed up by an LRM5, medium laser, and small laser, but it's very heat-efficient, has great mobility, and the PPC has above-average hitting power for most medium 'mechs. It's a bit slower, but I'd also recommend the Enforcer. It's got a large laser and an AC10, meaning you've got a lot of punch on that chassis. It's slower, but it's also jump-capable, so it's worth noting.
If you're more into skirmishing and outrunning your opponents, the Dragon is probably well suited to your needs. It's got an LRM10 and AC5 for hitting at range, backed up by a medium laser, with a second one on the back (We'll just wait and see how MWO addresses rear-firing weapons). Still, at 86kPh, it's a good and speedy design with adequate armor. All depending on how it works, you might want to try something like the Quickdraw. It's a very different weapons profile than the Uziel, but in spite of it's derpy-looking design, it's quite durable, the most maneuverable heavy in the (early) game, and is well suited to short-ranged brawls that I think this game will focus on.
Lastly, I have a feeling that if it appears at all in the game, the Crab would be a ride you'd enjoy. Twin large lasers, backed up by a medium and small. It can have heat issues and it's legs look pretty silly, but it's a good, solid 'mech with no ammo-explosion concerns.

The design is just what your looking for, and with some modification can do what the Uziel does, only better. With the added bonus of some short ranged back up firepower and the ability to replace the AC/5 with a PPC and extra heat sinks, all with those jump jets and armour your looking for, its should be in your top 5 list.

Jokes aside, most 'mechs of this time and tech level will go a max of 64-84kph. You can expect most heavies to be 64. Classic designs like the Warhammer and Marauder have this speed and legendary reputations as fan favorites, workhorse designs seen in every faction and that they are just plain good. At point blank to extreme range these are the two most iconic "Unseen" 'mechs and arguably just as iconic as the Timber Wolf despite being out of circulation for 10 years or more.
Other great heavy designs are the Orion the original "Assault 'Mech" and the Grand Dragon a long range 'mech that is faster then average.
Also take another look at a lot of the mediums posted in this thread, everyone above has done a great job of posting the big names in that weight class.
