#1: A new MWO integrated VOIP exclusive to clan players to help team work/coordination since team work/coordination is very OP in this game. Thus the Warhorn helps PGI fulfill the lore mandated OP nature of the Clans (clan players begin rejoicing)
#2: A MWO exclusive transmission technology that will allow clan players from anywhere in the world to have almost no ping, incredible connection stability, and priority in the internal server HSR system ensuring those Clan players shots always hit in the best possible way in all situations. Thus the Warhorn helps PGI fulfill the lore mandated OP nature of the Clans (clan players begin rejoicing)
#3: A MWO feature that once employed will allow the clan player to summon any star mate to the sounder sector on the map, allowing Clan players to have extremely flexible movement on the battlefield and ensure that Clan players always have a distinct edge in all combat situations. Thus the Warhorn helps PGI fulfill the lore mandated OP nature of the Clans (clan players begin rejoicing)
#4: A MWO technology that once sounded, imparts damage reductions, weapon buffs, and double heat disapation on Clan Onmimechs, ensuring Clan players never have to concern themselves about pesky things like game balance, fair play, ect. Thus the Warhorn helps PGI fulfill the lore mandated OP nature of the Clans (clan players begin rejoicing)
#5: A MWO feature that once sounded calls in an orbital strike from a Warship against any and all Red team mechs with in 1200m of the sounders mech. The special part of the feature is it will not directly kill those red team mechs (that would be lore breaking) it will only strip every piece of armor effiently off those red team mechs, allowing the Clan player to properly dispose of those pesky IS mechs themselves. Thus the Warhorn helps PGI fulfill the lore mandated OP nature of the Clans (clan players begin rejoicing)
#6 A MWO item that might allow clan players to "tag" areas of the map alerting allies where enemy contacts is, or conversely alert allies where the Clan player is in danger and in need of assistance. Thus the Warhorn helps PGI sell packages to players who hope the Warhorn is one of the other options (clan players begin chanting "let it be 1 through 5" over and over again)...

That's a non-sequitur.
First off, while Paul is indeed a wind up merchant he always makes it clear that he is joking. As there are no hints whatsoever in his post to indicate that it was a joke the only logical conclusion is that on this occasion he is being serious. While in time it may become evident that he was indeed joking to assume that he is without any actual evidence is illogical and just wishful thinking.
Secondly, even if he is joking it doesn't follow that it is "virtually certain that warhorns are consumables". Had you said warhorns "could" be a consumable it would be different but you didn't. Instead you have made a rather large leap in logic which simply doesn't follow. As such unless you can provide something solid to bridge the gap in your logic I'm afraid I will have no choice but to dismiss your argument as fallacious.

PGI knows exactly what warhorns are. The reason they don't want to commit to a definitive answer at this time will be so they have room to change their minds.

just a thing to focus the attack on single planets on the global map. how would you be able to launch an invasion without such a horn?

It's far more likely to be a cosmetic (whether visual or audo) that is limited to those who purchased the pack.

costs MC and lets you say one sentence to your teammates before getting used up. everyones been asking for VOIP so it makes perfect sense for PGI to add pay2talk.

Maybe it broadcasts [literally, map ping included, not just follow the sound] the player's location as an invitation to commence zellbrigen - now that would be awesome. Like an in-game 'come at me bro!'
