New player. Loved (love?) the Centurions. Bought them because I have a PNP block against Shadowhawks.

Mastered.

Fun.

Bought a Shadowhawk which, while it doesn't zombie the same, is basically very similar but with jump jets. Wolverine and Griffon promise to fill the same niches as well, leaving Cent to (essentially) zombies.

Shadowhawk makes a better balistic poptart
Wolverine a better close range bralwer
Griffin a better missile boat
Centurion a better JOAT-MON.

All of them are fun in their own way. :)

Yes. Exactly why I want the Wolverine to be GA.

The Centurion used to be globally faster than Hunchbacks

Other than the 9-D, (and Yenlo) all the Centurion use the same 200std that the Hunchbacks do....

As one of the very few individuals who run non-high dps output builds (min-maxing), I enjoy the heck out of my Cent. I run my AL with 2 medium lasers, 2 small lasers, and 2 SRM 6s with Artemis. They are by far the most fun of the mediums, and I happily run around killing people while the team focuses on the assaults. Another cool thing about the Cent is that it's a great light mech hunter once you unlock speed tweak.

Fixed. Though for some reason the Centurions were given a generally higher engine rating long before the Hunchbacks were. Probably due to size (larger) and inferiority when missiles got nerfed into the ground prior to their fix. Oh right. It was around the time when the Centurion's arm and torso twist ranges were significantly cut, preventing the Centurion Charge from being able to take place by reason of "arm clipping."

I miss throwing the shield forward, hooking the cannon over the shield, opening the doors for the LRMs, and hammering into someone as I charged at 64.8 kph.

The epic flamer stalker vid just finished uploading, please check this post in the first page for it.

They bore me. I want to face down my prey. :)

There is a reason I use a mix of LRMs and other weapons. I prefer to be able to still deal damage even if I can not see the target, or mostly while I move into position to see and shoot the said target. I like the flexibility a few LRMs can provide. Especially on my Stalker, which means it helps to mitigate my slower speed by giving me some reach, till I can get into line of sight and start shooting more of my weapons... (AKA: I don't boat them, so I can still face down people when and where I need to.)

I also like not having to take a slot up on a crowded ridge line, letting the jump snipers, snipers, and other mechs of my team take up places better for them, and all the while I remain effective still and can guard their back sides from any fast mechs that might try to break threw. (Don't know if you saw my Stalker build...)

Ok I've read these all I think the two mechs out of those now are the battlemaster and the stalker and I said centurion and stalker because I think stammers are all around brawlers maybe and the centurion I wanted to give some credit to it how good the design was and stuff like that

Wolverine was available for pre-release with the Phoenix Package. Should be coming out in the next month (or two?)

55 ton medium - fairly good close range jump-brawler.

And with that, now I'm readying mine up to field and record. :) I confess I haven't done any recording of it.

In fact, if you want/can add me and I'll bring you along.

Best of luck though!

Aw. Welp I'm in the field regardless. Back now. Got some recording of all 3 Wolverines. Did good in the 7 and the 6R. But I was awful...AWFUL in the 6K.

AWFUL in the 6K.

I am one of those that is extremely hesitant to write off a mech as "bad" but..... everything the WVR-6K does...... others really seem to do better. ;)

Yes it has better up-down arm/torso compared to the Shadowhawk and Griffin.... but the lack of JJ really hurts it's ability to USE that. :)

(In all honesty I have it set with a crap-build that I threw together out of what spare parts I had - and I am honestly debating selling it now that it is through the basics)

Right now my 6K had an ER PPC, 3 smalls, a medium, and a streak. Not the best loadout. And it ran too hot. Far too hot. The lack of jumpjets didn't help either. Can't put them in. I haven't got mine through the basics either yet. But at the moment it doesn't have any merit-worthy abilities.

If max armor per chassis per variant was based on stock armor + x amount instead of a set amount per weight class... then the Wolverine 6K could shine. Stock the Wolverines get a LOT of armor. Meanwhile Shadowhawks start with very little.

Wasn't that single variant supposed to be faster than the others? Maybe that can be taken advantage of.

Nope - same 275 engine the others got.

5E (1 in H,4 in RA) 1M (LT-10 tubes) 1AMS (RT) for hardpoints.

What about it's max cap? Or is that it's max cap...?

Max cap is based off the stock engine - so same cap as the other Wolverines: 360
