Neg, i am actually referring to the latters.

If you buy an AC20 for an Atlas, i am not sure it would be compatible with a Blackjack.

Besides, IIRC "AC/10" is a designation for all the autocannons who deal 10 damage: in the lore, different weapon manufacturers built different ACs within the same class.

i'm just thinking about what PGI does to the sizes of weapons being changed so as they don't dwarf the light mechs they get attached to. it "justifys" the non critslot restricted hardpoints customisation of MWO.

is now this

god knows how the awesome will look like let alone an atlas ac20. or have i been out the loop so long that they've already shrunk the original ac20 down to raven 4x size like the ppc's have been shrunk down for locust/spider snipers.

Probably their position back then. Cause this post http://mwomercs.com/...47#entry3120647 says nothing about armor values.

Part of the problem that I am seeing is that, at the moment, MWO lacks sufficient diversity in combat roles that players have shoehorned the available light mechs into roles they were never intended for, and are basing their assumptions about clan lights on those preconceptions.

The Commando (or at least the variants available) was intended as a Striker.
The Jenner as a guerilla warfare hit-and-fade combatant.
The Spider for the SLDF SpecOps for fast strikes at the enemy's rear.

All three of these mission profiles are similar in effect and well-represented in-game. The others, not so much

The Locust was intended as a purely reconnaissance platform, aside from UAVs there is little point to this role.
The Firestarter is effectively a combat engineering mech with a specialized support role. With a dearth of forest and buildings it can set on fire it is reduced to being just another machine gun/medium laser boat.
The Raven was designed to be an electronic warfare escort and force multiplier. Instead, the Atlas D-DC is the most common ECM escort and the Ravens have become just another set of striker/harassers.

The two Clan light OmniMechs thus far revealed have roles they are well suited for in-game, but that role is not the one that it seems all IS lights have been crammed into.

The Adder is deigned for direct and in-direct fire-support and excels in this role. It is capable of launching massive LRM salvos (even for a mech twice its tonnage) and moving to support any attack. As a sniper it has a number of long-range weapon fits that even an Atlas would wish to avoid, and then capable of relocating before taking another shot.

The Kit Fox sacrifices speed for armor and a very heavy weapon payload that will make it a devastating in the counter-light role. The W- and S-configurations would be particularly devastating in this regard, and the C-configuration, if released, looks to be extremely useful as an escort for heavy/assault stars (one possible change, swap the A-pods with machine guns). I'd also like to see the U-configuration, but then I've been hankering for an underwater map for a while.
