So here's my take for what it's not worth of course - been playing the game a year+ now and spent a pretty good amount of real money over that time. First I want to say I grew up loving mechwarrior - remember when we couldn't wait for the next game to come out? Hell even Mercenaries was ok lol. I was extremely excited to play mechwarrior online and it started out AWESOME but now it has been a steady decline until the rock bottom 2.0 patch - Did any of the developers actually try to use this?

1. It feels almost impossible to find the mechs I own and see their loadout in any reasonable way. I still don't know how to see the engine in my current mech without going to another screen other than the load out.

2. Selling things now is just plain stupid.

3. Why does everywhere I look say Buy Buy Buy Buy Checkout Buy Buy Checkout Buy.

4. I do not own trial mechs so why can't i filter them out?

5. Why can't I see the loadout on my mechs in some meaningful way other than have to click right arm, left arm center torso right torso left torso - friggin awkward.

And last but not least - why didn't the Devs spend time improving the content rather than continuously nerfing every aspect of the game. E.G. - lets speed up the AC20 lets slow down AC20 lets decrease the damage of the AC20 lets decrease the dmg on the Gauss lets add a charger to the Gauss lets change the range of the lasers lets increase the heat lets decrease the heat on and on and on - is this suppose to constantly make me want to relearn how to control my mech and spend more in time game??? I just do not understand it. IMPROVE THE CONTENT IMPROVE THE CONTENT IMPROVE THE CONTENT.

I loved mechwarrior like most people because I got to tweak my giant robot with all kinds of goodies and then head out onto the battlefield for some fun and loot. I spend dorking around the UI than on the battlefield. I hate to say it but the game is significantly way less enjoyable now than it ever was - and I don't think I'm alone in that sentiment.

Now to all those "hardcore" folks who will call me a hater etc... and I should go find another game to play blah blah.. fine I will and I understand this is just my opinion. But at the same time that is ashame - if all that is left are the "hardcore" "**** the casual player" guys left then the game WILL fail and no one will get to play. One last thing for thought - I had two friends try the game within the last week and they were TOTALLY lost on the UI and treated RUDELY by many during the match - so many of you act like your an expert (and I'm sure you are) but alienating new players will once again only result in the demise of what could be (and was) a GREAT game. Not a hater - just dissapointed in how one of my favorite games is going.

UI 2.0 Mechlab bug:

Mech lab rearranges weaponry on Catapult arms.

Explanation: I've been trying to customize my Catapult but found that the Mech Lab automatically rearranges my arm loadouts. This causes my Streak SRM2's to be behind the door bays instead of my LRM10's.

Hi PGI:

My opinnion. The effort of making the UI a most friendly one was unsuccessful.

It is pretty, you can rename mechs (good point), you can see the mech while rebuilding it loadouts (but no change on the picture of the mech itself at your right).

It seems that everything here points to the "buy" button, which, i guess, its good for people starting with this and having a lot of money.

Regular users wants to buy and sell (still do not know how can i sell one mech) whenever they want, so you can put that on the same "store" tab that , shockingly, has the same information that the mechlab for battlemechs. (duplicated info)

So we are being a little redundant on the information, which is pretty much annoying, since filters are not working properly (owned mechs vs Trial Mechs).

Don't blame if i say i like the new UI design, but it has so much flaws (not easy to understand, learning curve too high , filters not working, unable to sell owned mechs, unable to do a search for a specific item or type of item, etc) that the taste and all the work done well, dissolves into complains.

I haven't bumped with so many bugs, except:

a) Disconnect players no longers are marked as disconn (i.e if you are on skirmish, you will still need to find those guys disconnected and kill them, annoying)

:) Advanced Video Settings are no longer feasible to change. This leads to FPS drop and lead me to anger in such way i cannot even express myself with good words.


Please get that hotfix soon, ok ?

even PGI can't be dumb enough to think people who own 40 or 50 mechs are going to buy a copy of every non-consumable module for them.

Well I made a list of feedback I've gathered since the patch with my mates.


Outfitting mechs (not sure how much of this is to be introduced with the widget though I know some of it is)

-No warning of incorrect ammo equipped.
-Need a filter for displaying ammo for equipped weapons only.
-No general equipment overview of mech including modules (maybe even cockpit items, these are a pain to find along with everything else).
-No range numbers, only a graph. The exact numbers could easily be placed on the x axis of graph
-Armour is split between each individual part rather than all armour on one page.
-The grid view seems pointless for equipment and weapons, why a giant grid for 5/6 weapons, why a giant wall of engines with the same pictures. There's a list icon at the top of the grid, get it activated fast!
-Check out is a confusing term for save and poorly placed, it's very irritating to find the first time. (Why not Confirm Loadout and Purchases?)
-Check out does not back you out of mechlab, once you've saved your mech you still have to back out.
-Changing tab does not allow you to save like before. Why not have 'Do you want to save your loadout? Yes/No/Cancel'. Then you have both current changing tab and previous changing tab options.
-Takes 3 clicks to back out from loadout to mech grid, 2nd click just highlights back up rather than clicking it.
-Unequip buttons/double click to un-equip are desperately needed!
-Equipment can be shown for head though it can't be mounted such as double heatsink and BAP.
-No comparison between mechs/weapons/equipment. Just need a tick box for compare. You select item, tick compare, select another item (or several) and the stats are shown side by side.
-Engines don't say internal heatsinks (seriously it's getting a joke going to smurfy to find out info all the time, I'm thankful for finally seeing turning speeds and angles in game but the fact that has trumped more important information is beyond annoying).
-No heatsink or free slot counter.


Mechlab

-Shop shows no mech info but does show when you own a mech, purchasable mechs filter shows the opposite. Why not just have the purchasable mechs filter and have it show amount you own as well as mech info?
-Mechs only filtered by hero/champion/standard and alphabetical (sort by weight, name?).
-Renaming mechs doesn't allow apostraphes so you can't call the Death's Knell by it's actual name once it's been changed.
-Switching between owned and purchasable mechs takes you off of the current weight filter and puts you on all mechs, going back to owned puts you on trials filter.
-Why don't founders and phoenix mechs have F/P rather than champion? Or new tag for to group them? Not that important but it's a tad annoying to have them grouped with champions.
-Armor dist/heatmit/speed/firepower graph seems pointless, it takes up what could be useful space, doesn't display information well and the same information can be seen beneath it.
-Mechbay tab with one item in store...why? If you want to be really nice, just remove purchasing mechbays and refund everyone MC for their mechbays :).When UI2.0 came out I almost forgot you had to buy mechbays as the empty mechbays can no longer be seen.
-Current mech info doesn't show hardpoint/weapon distribution.


Social

-Why not have it so sending a group invite starts a group? What's the need to start a group first, just have the first invite do it automatically.
-Should be able to click off social tab (click the mechlab in the background to close it) and not have to hit [x].
-Unable to send group invite message when person is in a group, why not say they're already in group?
-Play now for single player, group launch on social screen for multi? I just find that arrangement strange.


Efficiencies

-Buying a mech efficiency shouldn't take 4 clicks, you can easily half that.
-Effiency buying should always show XP and GXP and just grey out whichever cannot be used.
-Basic/elite/master doesn't seem to make sense. Mech shows elite when it's been basic'd and is unlocking elite skills and shows master when it's elite'd and has master skill left?


General

-Closing the game shouldn't require log out first.
-Having stats bottom right corner is annoying, have to look everywhere for info.
-Have to move the mouse all over the place to do anything.
-Everything is so small.
-Wasted space everywhere.
-Inventory should show everything, I mean everything you own!! (with filters! Currently sell-able, currently equipped/unequipped, etc.).
-Option to skip opening videos, this can be done in almost every non-launcher based game I swear.
-Statistics opens browser. Redeem code opens browser. Buy MC opens browser. Why no in-game interface for them?
-Shop and efficiencies can be damn slow to load.

*Edit* missed an important one here!
-Increase in resource use since UI2.0. I've had a 10 degree increase in GPU temps and I'm stuck with low graphics. I used to be able to run the game on mostly high and have lower temps in game than I get with UI2.0 now!


Graphics problems

-The obvious, graphic settings not working correctly, this was in the beta test for UI2.0 as well I believe.
- LOD mechlab problems on low! I've had others confirm these to be sure. They were also present in UI2.0 beta test I think.

There's more than this but I'm tired from just typing this out! I'm make another post or update this one if I think of anything major to include.

Get it together PGI and I'll likely get at least the basic clan pack before the 28th, any later than that and I probably won't bother.

"Store" .. "Cart Total" .. "Check Out" .. C'mon Piranha, this is a mech bay in the future and we're building KILLING MACHINES! We don't want to feel like we're shopping for decorative pillows at K-Mart. Earn your paycheck and use some imagination!

Does anyone have any suggestions here?

I'm not talking a module free-for-all for every mech you own.. I try to have must-have modules for each line of mech I own.. eg.. one target decay for all my Trebs.. one seismic for all my Kintaro's.. etc.. makes it easier to find and saves time.

Not sure those wouldn't confuse the heck out of people though, I'm not even sure what I'm talking about O.o.

Suggestion:

Add a filter to allow trial mechs not to appear
Add a filter to separate between Inner Sphere and Clan Tech (later in the Game)

The same button that is used to enter friends view, should also be used to exit friends view. VERY annoying having to go from one spot to another to do a quick view of friends status. Remember the KISS principle and you won't go wrong!

When I hit Escape button from anywhere (social, mechlab, skill, etc) it should pop me back to the Home Screen. When I hit Escape from the Home screen it should pop up the "do you want to log out" box.

You cannot see any mech details while in store by hovering your cursor on top of them. Remove the hovering thing and give info when the mech is selected.

ALT+TAB does not seem to work if the only MWO is open.

So, I had to watch the FYI video to figure out how to sell a Mech (Home - Inventory), can this be moved to Store or MechLab?

I had to stumble around to find out how to "save load-out".

I feel the information you really need to know, are in small areas of the MechLab (i.e. C-Bills, MC, Current Mech selected, vitals of a mech [armor,tonnage,etc]).

The color selection screen for painting your mech confuses me greatly, could use a separation line of sorts between the colors.

Good changes that I like since the last time I tested the UI, is that the metal clank was removed from every click you made.

Full screen is much appreciated.

Skill trees are easily accessible still.

Huge portion devoted to Mech visual. Love it.

Can't wait to see updates to the UI for more ease of use. :rolleyes:

-edit- On another note, master and elite colors look too close for me to be able to tell what's what in the mech tree section.

If colors can't be changed, at least make the shapes completely different from one another. :D

I just want a return to a full slot view of the mech where I see every componant and every slot in place like UI 1.5 and Smurfys. A lot of this information is interesting in the popup screens, but generally not visually laid out to maximize functionallity, and lots of interesting but relatively irrelevant data that could be best done on a different roll over tab. Ultimately, my dream would be nothing is further than 2 clicks/rollovers/drag and drop away from changing your mech. Looking pretty is awesome and that's a stellar job, but relevant information to be able to swap components and modules in and out of inventory between matches in seconds is critical. As bad as the game Master Of Orion 3 was, the one thing it did do right was keep everything 2 clicks or menus away from access from the main screen. Just something to consider in the Usability aspect. ;)

I know much of this you PGI guys have mentioned will be coming up in UI 2.1 or whatever is coming up in a month, so I look forward to what improvements come. Keep plugging away. Your hard work is appreciated.

What is the point of even having the very similar icons for things like lasers, equipment, ammo. All of the icons look the same. Instead of the awesome, efficient, easy to use lists we had in the old UI, now we have a see of similar looking icons that all look the same.

The mech selection is horrible as well. Not only are variants of chasis u of order, when I try t filter I'm stll stuck looking at garbage trial mechs that suck.

IRL, I'm a quality engineer, would you like some help? Maybe first we should start with a healthy dose of user acceptance testing?

Make the fonts readable for fig´s sake. Seriously.
You had one freaking week to increase font size.
You did nothing.

That drives people away. They couldn´t even give you money if they wanted, because they can´t find the button.

YES, YES, YES. I never really noticed it before.. but I'm always struggling to see if that's a pulse laser or regular laser icon i'm lookin' at. I hate having to read the infinitesimally CROWDED font to figure it out. Make them look different, or change the color of each class of weapon. eg. green for laser, orange for pulse, red for PPC. Make it so we don't have to READ, make it more I N T U I T I V E.
