Re-spec FS9s with flamer quirks. Really good flamer quirks.
Problem solved.
Why on earth did a 'Mech known for (and named for) its incendiary weapons get laser quirks? It was already the best light in the game. Let it do what it was meant to do, and give it quirks that make flamers a viable weapon system. Since flamers are so terrible otherwise, it'd actually kill two birds with one stone: FS9s wouldn't be the scourge of the light queue, and there would be a chassis on which flamers would be somewhat viable. Win-win! ...and let the other lights get back to being decent, which they would be after quirks if it weren't for the ludicrous FS9 meta.
It's a gorram flamethrower with legs. It's supposed to torch infantry and light vehicles, and set forest fires! It was never meant to be equal to front-line scouts and strikers. It is bloody annoying to run into one of these little buggers as any other light, and know that it's got 75-25 odds of punching your brains out your a%%&$)#. Worse than running into a streakboat Ryo or Madcat, because at least those SOBs you can run away from.
Nerfbat the suckers. Then give all lights some general buffs if necessary. Just do something to end the idiotic dominance of a second-line support 'Mech over front-line strikers, scouts, and harassers.
