I've the same issue, but luckily I don't have to restart my router.

Strange thing is that 7 hours ago I was playing without any problem.

EDIT 1: After 2 hours since the first issue, now it works.
EDIT 2: After a the end of a match I lost connection and I can't reconnect as before...

I wonder how long it will take to get me online again... I kinda paid for the game and with every passing day I am more worried that my investments (MC) went down the drain...

I am not so sure that the issue will ever be resolved, since only "a very small percentage" of users is affected. At least that is what I read in the official statements.

Same here, but with the extra bonus of having my ADSL connection going down as soon as i exit after this "unknown failure"..???

I have to reset my modem/router every time after trying to play.

I was able to play on one of two accounts (on the same computer!) but now neither works.

Im am also having this problem..Unknown Failure error when connecting to mech lab after logging in. And like Rederk23 i also have to reset my router after trying because it disables my internet even tho it says im still connected. Very strange

I'm having the same problem, but resetting my router does not work, I have to restart my computer. I've sent a support ticket, and my dxdiag / omicron.log files after being requested. Still waiting for a reply. It's at least a little bit comforting to know I'm not the only one suffering from this problem...

I have the same problem. It crashes my router. I have to power it off and back on to get it back online.

Uhmm, right now i'm having the same issue.
I was playing with no issues a couple hours ago, then after a match, the game got stuck in the mechlab loading. i've force-closed the client via alt-f4.
Since then, i'm getting the unknown failure pop-up.

Hope it gets ficed soon.

I was also getting this error. Turned out my firewall is blocking something in the passing of bits.

The only way I can connect now is by disabling my firewall. I use Zone Alarm, hoping a fix is in the offing from someone at ZA.

It's weird because i have the same UNKNOWN FAILURE issue, i did everything from running the repair tool, deactivating the firewall, to a complete reinstall(uninstall, wipe registry and reinstall) of the game, nothing worked. Since you can't quite tell what type of error it is i decided to reinstall/update my graphics driver and now it works for me, hope this helps ! (I have a ATI HD6870)

I played this game fine for days after the patch, but I tried last night and got this error logging in. Tried again and got online. I started a match with my friend and got d/c half way through. I then attempted to log in again ~6 times and got the "Unknown Error" message each time. I'm just gonna step away from MWO until this gets resolved. My patience for the game is as thin as toilet paper already and it doesn't take much reason to convince me not to play it for a bit.

I think it is time based. At home I could at least log in sometimes before 8am and after 10pm without getting Unkown Failure every single time. That means that I can't play for 14 hours of the day. This was based on attempts to log in almost every hour from 7am to 11pm for 5 days (Feb 7-Feb 12).

Today I moved back to college with ~40MB/s download and rock solid NBN fibre connection. Still getting the error :P during the day. I will keep trying to work out the workable times from this location. I really hope this gets hot fixed ASAP as although this may not affect many Canadian/North Americans, it prevents many players from Europe, Asia, Australia and Oceania from even logging in at all. I will report back when I have more data.

I saw some people posting about router problems and firewall blocks, though I hadn't had any of these problems myself. So I thought about what connection problem fixes I have had to use in the past... Windows Defender real-time protection.

Updated and disabled Defender: login successful. Then... re-enable Defender: login still successful?

Maybe they resolved the issue just now, this was around 1230pm EST.

It doesn't work for me again, getting the same error. Up until now i have tried everything from deactivating the firewall to using the repair tool, to reinstalling the graphics driver and the game as well, i did this several times and i have to agree with JayZ with it being time based.

I'm not getting an "Unknown Failure" error, but I'm getting a "Server Connection Lost" error, which I've posted about. I feel that's time-based too. I can't get on before 7:30 AM or after 10:30 PM EST.

As a follow-up:

After some research at ZA forums, the recommendation was to reset security settings to default, which I did -- now I have no problems connecting to the game through the ZA firewall.

Tools --> Preferences ---> reset to default.

After returning to college I have found that the error occurs between 9am and 5pm on weekdays which is OKish as I often work then, although it is frustrating on my days off. I think that is actually network traffic related and that UI 2.0 is more sensitive and fragile than UI 1.5 (in terms of network stability). Australia has very outdated and overloaded infrastructure hence this error been seen even in large towns and some cities. That's as good an explanation as I can think of.

Edit: This also explains why running the repair tool, reinstalling, restarting, rebooting (kicking side of PC), turning it on and on and off again and crossing fingers has not worked.

Me too.

Played much of the day. Quit for a couple hours to eat, came back, and now I am stuck at the connecting prompt, when it doesn't crash out with that error.

I'm having the same problem. At first I thought it was due to the fact that I play at a LAN center on a rented computer, but I guess that isn't the case. The owner of the LAN center has been nice and let me run the repair tool and reinstall on multiple computers, but no luck...

Same Problem here, repairtool failed, reinstall failed.

Are there any Plans to solve the Problem with the upcomming patch?
