Need a sale for fang and flame 50% and I'd get both. I already own most of the heroes and am not really interested in the others left except these two.

I want this -in part because of OCD, in part because Orions are high on my list of "To buy and Master", in part because... Kerensky Dagnabbit!

I bought the Protector, M, and V simultaneously. With premium, it took me basically 50 matches apiece to hit Master. This compares comparably to my experience with the Victors, even though Orion doesn't have jump jets. The Protector is a solid, easy to manage build.

(And much better than, say... Locusts, which took me into the 70's match counts to master, and I hated them so much I would only play each variant until I got a win to maximize the 2XP boost, and it still was painful.)

It's a good, solid mech. Owning most of the heroes, this is among my favorites and is essentially a mini Heavy Metal.

Truth be told, so is the Dragon Slayer.

But unlike those two, in an Orion you can run an effective, fast-enough build with autocannons, missiles, and lasers and still bring forth a standard engine.

To get decent speed, you have to have a much bigger engine with a Victor or Highlander. More speed = LOTs more weight, more weight means you gotta convert to XL.

For the same engine rating from 75 ton Orion to Victor, you lose about 5 kph. Closer to 7 after speed tweak is unlocked for both mechs. It's more like 10 before and then close to 15 after speed tweak going from Orion to Highlander.

And the higher the engine, the bigger the loss in the swap from Orion to Highlander.

That and apparently swapping from 80 tons (Victor) to 90 (Highlander) requires a swap from 1 ton jumpjets to 2 ton jumpjets.

Bought mine and changed it to how I wanted... then played a half dozen matches. I am happy with it so far as a brawler build. CT is big but it seems to do ok.

Well, I couldn't pass it up, 50% off. It is a nice mech and its only my 3rd Hero so far. Also don't expect after this series of hero sales that 50% off will come back. I think its PGI's way of giving back for us waiting so long for UI 2.0. So thanks. Love the sales and most likely will get a couple more, maybe the Flame will make my list.
