how does one sell weapons and such in the new ui? and does it seriously need to be this complicated to use?

From the main screen, click on the Inventory tab. This is where you sell your equipment/mechs/engines.

this new ui is rediculous, why take a good, functional, intuitive interface it and replace it with something completely opposite for?

No it doesn't.

First, the old GUI was neither good nor intuitive. Functional yes, the rest no.
Second, The reason why the new GUI is so much needed is that the old one was too intertwined with the rest of the software. This made it extremely difficult to change something without affecting other parts that had nothing to do with it. Imagine you are in your living room and move a chair to another position, and suddenly the lamp falls down in your kitchen. Not good.
The new GUI is supposed to have much better modularity, allowing them to modify something without affecting other parts of the software.

Now about being too complicated: I've been in UI design for a while, and from what I've seen so far, there might be internal reasoning for not spending noteworthy resources on a dedicated UI designer. But of course I can't be sure, because I'm not a PGI employee. Might as well be that there really isn't any good reason to give us this...thing.

PS: Keep in mind that design and eye candy is not the same - the art team does its job.

This. Pretty soon, UI1.5 will become the pinnacle of interface design in some people's minds. It really was not.

which goes to show exactly how borked 2.0 is. When people WANT to go back to a not good UI.

community complains and complains so PGI gives them what they want non functioning NEW CONTENT. as long as the community remains impatient and cries I want new content PGI will use them as guinea pigs. Hopefully the community will shut up and let PGI test internally and give us working content instead of trying to rush them.

The Devs need to hire a UX designer... or fire the person describing themselves as such.

If it does indeed take 6 clicks to get from the Loadout screen to the point where you can sell an item, that is 6*N clicks where N is the number of items you wish to sell in a single configuration session. While linear, that is still a painfully annoying burden to put on the User.

The Developers left the ability to purchase equipment integral to the Loadout Screen, so clearly they understand that buying/selling equipment is part of the configuration process. It looks like the Graphic Designers couldn't figure out a clean way to add a Sell feature to the GUI, so they just ripped it out and created an unnecessarily (and inconveniently) separate workflow.

Think about Six Sigma. They even specify where your damn trash-can should be in your office, for maximum efficiency. This mess, however, is not optimized for the user at all. I can't imagine how this could have passed internal user testing.

And so why are we here to understand how to sell equipment?

Seriously. This new UI 0.2 also takes a lot more clicks to accomplish simple things.

You got me wrong. I said it doesn't need to be that complicated. Problem is: it is, because the use flow of the UI sucks.

Problem!
Able to sell mechs before the last patch. (18.02.14) I sold one at the weekend.
Now unable to sell mechs. Have two that i cannot sell.
Anyone else having this as a new problem or should I log it with the support?

yeah i had trouble finding this. it seems to configure you go to the mechlab... fair enough but you can also buy mechs here. so you can buy and configure in mechlab, then the store is purely for buying but the mech lab won't double up the inventory's job of selling stuff. many buy buttons around the UI but the sell button is tucked under 2 tabs... great.

Having to resort to an internet forum to figure out how to sell a mech equals a failed UX.

UI 2.0 is a joke.

lololol, yeah, this UI really is awful.

Click Home on the top.
Click Inventory on the left.
Click the category you want on the left.
You have the option to Sell on the right (I believe).
