Didn't they something about un-movable heatsinks, endo steel, and ferro slots, as well as certain weapons being unremovable?

I understood it as armour type and structure type cannot be changed, not can heat sink type. But I have seen nothing about heatsinks construction rules being changed.

I did see you can add heat sinks, but you cannot reduce below the 'standard issue' that comes with the chassis.

So since there are 5 extra DHS mounted in the engine of a Timber Wolf and they're fixed, they cannot be removed.

The Dire Wolf has 2 DHS fixed in the engine, as well as a DHS in each side torso and one in the legs. Those can't be removed since they're fixed to the chassis.

As mentioned above, players can add additional heatsinks, but can't remove heatsinks past what's fixed in the chassis.

Someone should post screen shots from MegaMekLab or SolarisSkunkWerks to show the fixed equipment locations for an empty chassis. I think that would give players a better idea of what to expect from each chassis.

They may end up shuffling them (sorta like what they did when they gave ECM fixed slots) but I doubt it'll be to the players' advantage when/if they do.

The ECM hardpoints are one thing, since I'm certain those 'mechs mounted ECM in those locations in-universe.

I really hope they don't mess with fixed criticals. I think PGI can make these configurations work without stifling customization or throwing game balance out the window.

Yes to all, with clarification.

You won't be able to change armor type, structure type, or heat sink type. If your Mech has standard armor, standard structure, and double heat sinks, that's what you're stuck with. You cannot add endo to that Mech.

Some number of heat sinks (whether single or double) will be fixed. You won't be able to remove (or move) those heat sinks, but you should be able to add more. Omni pods can hold just about anything including heat sinks if you want to use the tonnage that way. For example, the Daishi carries 2 fixed heat sinks in its engine plus two additional fixed heat sinks, one in each side torso. You can't move or remove any of those heat sinks, but you should be able to add more to the side torsos if you want to.

Certain weapons will also be fixed, such as the head-mounted Flamer on the Puma. That flamer is an inherent part of the chassis so you can't change it or remove it. I have a vague recollection of some Omnimech having a pair of MG in the CT that are fixed, but can't remember which one that might be off the top of my head.

PGI Favor IS over clans. Everyone in Dev vlog are IS and these are lead designers of the game. So they couldn't care less a bout clans. Just wait till Rotary comes out and IS is like LOL clan tech balance? nah if clans were as powerful as in lore then this rotary would be balanced but we nerfed clans into the ground so that IS can just stomp the super restrictive clan omnimechs into the ground. lolololol

Fortunately (for the guys on the other team) the Dire Wolf can't fire all of its Primary configuration weapons at once. It only has 22 double heatsinks :D

22 Fake DHS :)
