BS.

The Stalker is one of the best mechs to learn XL engine in. Torsos are harder to hit. A Cat 3d would be mean.. but an XL Stalker is fine.

hahahahaaha - no. No, no, no: XL in a Stalker is guaranteed death. I don't wholly agree with the OP because it seems like I've been having a lot of games lately that come down to the last 2-3 guys, than the 12-2 stomps. But no - a Stalker is not a Catapult: it's a walking barn door and unlike nearly every mech out there, you have to point your blimp-like nose right at the enemy almost the entire time.

It's actually one of the strongest new trial mechs in the game. I recreated it on my own STK-3F since I had one already. I've had some ridiculously good games. The upgraded speed helps the turning radius too, which in turn helps you survive lights. If you dont' rush, it's become a killer weapons platform with plenty of ammo and no shortage of alternative weapons.

why all the XL hate on missile platforms? they can stick with the group and pack more punch! tag so you can always get a lock. artemis for CTing line of sighters. lasers for when somone closes the 180m bubble. thats how i build my missile boats :)

The problem isn't building missile boats with XL's.

The problem is building a STALKER with an XL.

I get more and more matches like this.

Not only is that trial stalker ridiculously bad designed, overcomplicated to use and a death trap.

The matchmaker matches at least 6 new players against what looks like 2 3man teams and experienced players.

I'm really no one who rants on these forums and there is really much QQ - but please fix this.

At least fix the Trial mech, build a simple stalker and hotfix it in. PLEASE!

And not for me. For those new players. Who get humiliated out there. Slaughtered.

We the players can write guides and make videos and what not but this won't help those poor souls.
If you let us, we will make those damn tutorials for you but this needs to be in game, not in a thread in the forums. Help them PGI. You're our last hope!

I for one refuse to shoot at another trial stalker from now on till they are fixed.

I don't care if I lose but I won't help frighten off new players anymore.

Humility is a good quality to have.

the trial stalker is bad because it has LRMS, and if you run into poptarts and ECM it doesnt matter how good you are, you will be lucky to do more than 200 damage or see a lock or 2 the whole game.

And it was developed for chess, where a new player's pieces are exactly the same as a grand master's.

This is not the case in MWO, where a new player's mech is basically trash compared to a long time player.

I would like to point out that almost every single chess player that starts in the Elo system, already knows the game and has advanced past beginner. Therefor it is safe to assume they have the basics mastered and can then be safely placed at a starting Elo that is based in the middle.

IN MWO it can be safely assumed that a new player will have an unmastered mech, often a trial mech unless they spent real cash. has never played MWO, may not have ever even heard of BT before this, Why are they started in the middle ranks, using an old and outdated single player chess system in a multiplayer/Team based computer game?

This is fact.
Any half decent pilot can and will take an XL stalker apart in very short order.

To finish your quote :
.... If that stalker has a newb in it.

Key point is, the other pilot must be as good or better then the stalker pilot. But that pretty much holds true for everything.

If your stalker has an XL engine, then it has a newb in it.

By moving your mech, Preferably utilizing this mechanic called jump jets, so you may take a shot whilst minimising your chance of receiving fire in return.

Sandpit is from arkansourceofcancer. Explains a lot about his rationale.

haha no wai man! In fact, I've been Protecting with Banananutmuffins as of late and pooping on kids with with my 3 LL 2 A5 Orion. Someone even called it a cheese mech!

Then we pulled our Wangs out. We can show them to you. You'll be shocked and awed by the girth of our cannons.

But wait... isn't it not about calibre? Isn't it how you use your cannon?
