I thought there was a problem with my case/GPU fans when I tried to play MWO for the first time. My GPU temperature goes all the way to 100. I tested many other games right after to see if it was a hardware problem, even cleaned up the interior of my case to be sure. Any other game I play won't get my GPU over 85 on max graphics, only this game makes my GPU overheat even on low graphic settings, any idea why?

Iwould like to know why this is also.

I've noticed my GPU fan going nuts when in Mech lab if I say there for a time, but if I'm in a match it's ok. So just wondering EchoZeero is that the same for you?

I've noticed the new UI is extremely GPU intensive and makes it run at almost max. The old UI was similar but was not such a resource hog. In a match, the game distributes the load between CPUs and GPU so the GPU doesn't run quite as hot.

You may want to report this to support@mwomercs.com if the heat is major problem.

Incidentally, if your GPU runs very hot, I strongly recommend that you do not stay in the UI for extended periods of time as the heat will shorten the useful life of various components quite rapidly.

You obviously didn't read my post. I said I opened my case and cleaned it up. You're not helping. If you want me to go into the details, I removed the CPU, its heatsink and fan, cleaned it, make sure the thermal paste was ok, then put it back together. Then I removed my GPU, opened it and cleaned the fan.

I didn't try to get in a match because I didn't want to take a chance that my temperature would damage my GPU, just about 20 seconds of being in the Mech Lab skyrocketed my temp to 100. First time I've ever seen a single game do that, and I play Skyrim with ENB and a shitton of mods with no problems.

I played Crysis, Crysis:Warhead and Crysis 2 with that card and it never did that.

Maybe you can create a custom fan profile using MSI afterburner so you can beat up the fan(75-85%speed steady) for MWO instead of the GPU cooking.

I am already using MSI afterburner and my fan is already maxed up way before I reach 85 degrees.

My card is not overclocked why would I downclock it? That's the most ******** thing I've ever heard, downclock a GPU to be able to run a game? How would that even help?

If you've cleaned out your CPU/GPU and case with compressed air, then maybe it's time to take a look at the case cooling itself. Is your case out in the open, or is it tucked into an enclosed or restricted space? How many intake/exhaust fans do you have, what size are they, and are they quiet, slower moving fans? Perhaps it's time to invest in some more robust, heavier CFM pushing [and granted, louder] fans?

How is your cable management inside your case? Are the wires just shoved in all willy nilly, or are they kept to a minimum, organized and wire tied back to allow air to freely flow through the case?

Is there adequate space between your GPU and the wall of the case...and/or are there holes to allow it to draw in cold air? [may not be applicable to many towers, more common with horizontally sitting cases]

How old is the card? Perhaps it's time to take it apart and re-paste the GPU [don't forget to order the foam heat transfer pads in advance for the ram--if applicable]

The Cryengine make a lot of stress to the GPU. My friends and I played Crysis, C2, C3 and MWO and we live with the heat.

My old GeForce 8800GT (noise like a jumbo jet) reached the 112°C played Crytek powered visuals and she lives 5 years.

These need of power (more power-more heat) make the console versions of Crysis look so ugly.

And remember, if you removed the cooler from the GPU/CPU/chip to clean it, you must clean the contact surface and apply new thermal pad/gel/paste/compound/mengambrea.

I do repasted between 2 or 3 years.

You really do not need lots of fans (more fans more dust and noise). You need better air flow:

Ok wow. I made this thread thinking I could get help and some answers that made sense, but all I get is trolls. I already said I cleaned up my tower, ALL of it, CPU, GPU, PSU, case fans, etc. Now comes in the all-knowing idiots that don't read my post and ask if it's cable management and case air flow...

NO OTHER GAME MAKES MY TEMEPERATURE GO OVER 85, NONE HAS EVER DONE THAT EVER, IT'S NOT MY HARDWARE.

Now someone's gonna say "Well if it's not your case, have you considered maybe it's your dirty underware? Or the garbage in the back alley?"

I was contemplating maybe it was a specific card driver issue/incompatibility or a known issue, but it seems it's just a shitty game engine. Unless you have USEFUL information, please don't post, and stop trying to blame my more than adequate and very clean hardware thank you.

Sorry bro... Is not your hardware, is only the games's graphic engine.
